It May make deciding easier... : ok: Title: Re: Getting A New Guitar Soon Post by: Neemo on June 18, 2008, 12:16:39 AM depends on what kinda sound you want to get out of it :-\
the humbuckers will give you a totally differnt sound then the single coils fender has tremolo, gibson doesnt gibson is a thru-neck, fender is a bolt on the only thing similar to each other is that they are electric :hihi: my suggestion is to figure out what kinda stuff you wanna play on it then from there you will be able to determine what one is best for you : ok: Title: Re: Getting A New Guitar Soon Post by: JimBobTTD on June 18, 2008, 01:55:38 PM The Gibson is a set-neck, not neck-through. Big difference!
The two guitars are, as Neemo said, very different. Which style do you prefer? Have you played an SG before? Some people can't get along with their necks. Also, if you get a buffer, a few moments underneath it and you'll have a nice shiny finish (I think - I haven't seen one in a while, but a few coats of lacquer first will do the trick). The Faded finishes are not to everyone's taste. Title: Re: Getting A New Guitar Soon Post by: MR. GNR on June 18, 2008, 03:08:04 PM Ya what im playing is the biggest question..... which is a bit of everything.... Rory Gallagher Blues to Heavy Metal.... Im just going to have to come to a compromise... I have played an s.g. and liked it...... Thanks everyone...
Title: Re: Getting A New Guitar Soon Post by: Grouse on June 23, 2008, 12:43:22 PM I'd go for the SG it is in my opinion the most versatile out of the two but if you decide to go for the SG make sure you get a decent strap 'cause they are a bit top heavy and they will dive head first if they pop out of the strap...
