Title: Sennheiser 555 Headphones (HELP) Post by: mrbucketfoot on May 30, 2008, 09:57:41 PM Hey everyone,
My question is to the audiophile crowd. I'm debating on getting the Sennheiser 555s or the Sennheiser 595s. I have a great surround sound system so I have no need for headphones for movies or games too much with the exception being at night. I really just want a set that plays the music very crisply and clearly, to hear all the subtleties, and enough bass so it won't sound "empty". I've looked at a lot of different headphones and these two seem to be the best within a decent price range. Any comments or tips would be awesome. Thanks. The magnets take awhile to warm up but when they do they sound great. All the ranges are covered well with the 555s, although if you're into lots of bass these are not the headphones for you. For $99.99 the 555s are a steal! Make sure you have equipment that can drive these, the impedance is high.

What do you listen to primarily? I ask because I listen to a lot of jazz/classical, so subtleties are a must. A lot of bass isn't important as long as it is there when needed. Not like "rap music" amount of bass, haha, but when the drums need a kick and the riff needs a punch, I need the bass to be there. Are you satisfied with how it sounds with Rock/GNR-type stuff? And I have a MacBook Pro. So that should handle it just fine. Even though I realize that $99 is an amazing deal, I'm skeptical how good it will sound. Like will it be worth it? I have a nice surround sound system and I can detect small nuances but there are a lot of things on the shopping list you know? Anyway thanks, anymore help would be much appreciated. I listen to a lot of classical and I must say the Berlin Philharmonic never sounded better. Rock music also sounds great. Gn'R sound amazing on these. Also while not studio grade they are damned close. Remember these are open so to much ambient noise is a no no.What do you listen to primarily?
