Yeah, it?s an incredible thing. The world has been waiting for Chinese Democracy for a good 15 years and if you want to get a taste of what Axl actually sounds like as of last year, then get Angel Down because he?s on three songs. He sounds incredible! I just can?t believe that in the history of rock he would choose to collaborate on my album.

?Axl texted me right away and asked if I was joining Velvet Revolver, and I said, ?No, not that I know of.??

What have you learned from your friendship with Axl?

He?s a fascinating individual and he does things a lot differently to what I do. He doesn?t do any interviews at all and I do millions of them. It?s an incredible experience to be talking to him before he goes on stage. I?ll be backstage in his room and he carries on a conversation as we?re walking to the stage. The whole [arena] is going nuts and Axl will be telling me about what he did last night or the day before, and he doesn?t break a stride. I?ll be like, ?Well, ok, you?re going on stage now,? and he?ll say, ?Ok, I?ll talk to you later.? He?ll walk out there and all of Sydney?s Acer Arena crowd is like, ?Ahhh, there he is. Oh, my God!? People can?t believe that he?s actually standing there. It?s such an intense moment every night.

It?s a crazy situation, because he doesn?t show himself to too many people and he?s always been there for me. I think it?s funny that when Scott Weiland left Velvet Revolver, the last thing he said was, ?I think Sebastian Bach would be a good choice for you guys.? I think that?s because he?s eluding to the fact that you can?t get away from Guns ?N Roses. They?re like The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. I?m sure he felt frustrated in trying to fill Axl?s shoes. Axl texted me right away and asked if I was joining Velvet Revolver, and I said, ?No, not that I know of.? Axl has been so nice to me, I wouldn?t want to do anything to jeopardise our friendship.

I?m in the middle of all these huge rock icons who are calling me at the same time, and I?m sitting there thinking, ?How does this f**King happen to me?? Axl said to me, ?Dude, the way that you sing is rare.? The way that Axl sings is rare too. There?s not a lot of guys anymore that can sing in the range that we sing in.

Would Axl be unhappy if you were to sing for Velvet Revolver?

I think it would be awkward. I opened for two Guns ?N Roses tours. Axl sang on my record and I sing on Chinese Democracy. We?re very close friends. For me to join a band and then sing all of his songs would be kinda weird. But, Angel Down, is what?s in my heart and I can?t wait to get out there and tour it. That?s what I?ll be doing for the foreseeable future.

He says NO to vr because he already wanted to play there and wasnt even invited to audition. And because he picks every chances he has to mention how great is Axl, and to mention his new album.

I would like to see Axl finally put out the record as much as anybody on these message boards

HOWEVER: If the album doesn't come out by the end of 2008, Baz needs to reconsider his role in the GNR universe and shift into a middle-man position in order to reconcile Axl with his former bandmates.

I believe his pandering to Axl is sincere and that Axl showed him very high-quality and excellent recordings of new GNR music. But if the record label is nervous to release a new GNR record because of lack of identity (missing Slash) and therefore missed music sales (especially with a sluggish economy and record sales), something must be done to have a reaffired GNR identity that the entire public can dig in. Considering that Axl has all his songs and VR have their songs, they already have the material to work on together.

I'm sorry, but Fall to Pieces or most of VR songs has more arrangements, fixes, and creativity than... madagascar, for example, wich are 3 chords for 5 minutes with a DJ mix of voices in the middle.

Both bands (vr, and gnr 2008 lineup) are great, I like vr songs and madagascar or other "new" songs, but it's a little risky to say that about VR songwriting.

Baz doesn't have to join VR. Axl does or vice versa or should eventually consider it.

Given Baz's relations with both parties, he has an ability to do more to mend relations that any fan or GNR website can do. Axl can only beef with his former bandmates so long and be hindered in his progress to achieve his own name with new players that come and go through a revolving door before time becomes a serious liability and undercuts any musical statement that Axl ever wanted to achieve.

There is no precedent to what has happened to these new GNR albums in music history or the history of any published item in all of Western civilization. Its already May 2008, over a year and two months since Axl himself put out a release date for the new albums. He should either find a new label, make his own label, or follow Baz into the conference room with his former bandmates and try to bring it back together if that gets record company interest to release anything with GNR on it.

Considering the success of the GNR Greatest His album with most of these older players on it, I think the record company wouldn't hestitate as much to release an album with Axl and Slash on it again.

I don't care one way or the other about a reunion, but I don't think he really cares who supported who and who didn't.  People who support a GNR reunion only care about what that group did when they were together....which is some pretty incredible shit.  Yea, Slash didn't want to go Axl's way with GNR, no biggie.  People don't always see eye to eye.  But the thought of another GNR album by original GNR is mouthwatering to some.

He's actually lower.  The people in the band now, in addition to former members like Buckethead, Josh Freese, Paul Huge, and so on have actually written songs for GnR.  Even if the songs haven't been released, they've creatively contributed to GnR songs that have been recorded and played live

Hell, people who have never been in GnR like Del, West Arkeen, and Chris Weber have more writing credits for GnR than Sorum.

This is why it's always hilarious to me when Sorum tries to act like he was a "real" member but Paul Huge wasn't.  Paul Huge actually co-wrote a song that appeared on UYI, and co-wrote another official release with Oh My God.  Which is more than Sorum can say.  Sorum is to date the only person who has ever been "fired" or kicked out, which is why he's been referred to as a former employee and why he's listed as an additional musician on Live Era

Of course there's a group of "fans" who think that Sorum and Gilby were "real" members but Robin, Richard, Tommy, etc are not, but most of them don't let logic get in the way of their arguments

Sorum's a "Gunner" for the YCBM intro and November Rain drumming alone IMHO.... Back on subject.....Baz only said that Axl asked if he was joining VR.  We are really jumping to conclusions to assume that he wouldn't want that.  Baz said he would decline out of loyalty to Axl but we really don't know what Axl's thoughts on the matter would be.

He has managed to reach some sort of impossible breaking point in Space/Time Continuum where amount of people who know Axl Rose appears on Bach's solo album is larger than amount of people knowing Bach has a solo album out.

I think Baz joining VR would not be in his or VR's best interest at this point. However, do you think Baz could get Axl and Slash to speak after all these years and quash their beef? Not for the purposes of a reunion. This is not a reunion question. Just to reconcile and finally make peace with each other and clear the air.

Baz seems to be outspoken and says whatever he has on his mind. Baz is very careful with what he does these days not to upset Axl, probably because he does not want to ruin his relationship with Axl since they seem pretty tight these days. Even though he drops Axl's name every 5 seconds.

I also would have thought Baz would be pissed at Slash to the point of not speaking to Slash after Slash picked Scott for VR and there would be a rift between them. But apparently Baz will at least take his call and hear him out. That leads me to believe Slash and Baz are somewhat friendly or talk from time to time considering Slash has to have felt a little guilty of not picking Baz originally and then picking up the phone to offer him the job now.

Slash has to know of Baz's relationship with Axl these days. Could Slash be trying to get Baz to help him reconcile with Axl? Axl is friendly with Izzy, he performed with Gilby, he has bumped into Matt and they spoke briefly and said their peace. Slash and Duff are really the only guys that he has yet to speak too (that we know of). Ultimately, I think it is up to Axl to be willing to speak to Slash. I think we know Slash has tried in the past but Axl would not even entertain the idea of speaking to Slash.

Baz has Axl's ear now and is speaking to both lately. I am just wondering what people think about this possibility. If you were Baz would try as a mutual friend to mend this relationship between two former friends and bandmates? I can't help to think this feud has to come to an end sometime and perhaps Baz could be part of the process.

Not a Baz fan by any means but I think the guy gets a lot of unnecessary flak on the boards for being an "Axl mark".  To me, the guy is just genuinely expressing his gratitude toward a man who has been very generous to him over the years.  Nothing wrong with that.

If Baz wants to go out and spread the word of Axl's greatness and support Chinese Democracy at every opportunity, I say go for it.  He's very active in the media (press interviews, radio, etc).  He can certainly contribute to the buzz and generate added interest.

Well said Lord Kayoss.  I don't get why people get so upset at Baz for bringing up Axl's name.  It's not hurting anyone.  Just because people on this board have heard Baz say the same things over and over, that doesn't mean the rest of the world has.  If you go out and talk to 10 random people, I doubt any of them have any idea that Axl is on "Angel Down", or even what "Angel Down" is.  It's not like he's been interviewed by Larry King for the whole world to see.

From an interview with Sebastian that airs today...

Jess: You're pretty much best friends with Axl Rose, aren't you?

Sebastian: Ummm, I'd say yeah, we're very good friends, and we text each other all the time - silly nonsense...

Jess: Does Axl ever say "LOL" in his texts?

Sebastian: (laughs) No.

Jess: Good man. I would have been quite concerned about that. So obviously you've heard all of Chinese Democracy, I'm assuming?

Sebastian: Yeah!

i stil don't understand why a topic about Axl asking Baz if he joined VR is 7 pages long in the GnR section.  It has nothing to do with GnR.   The point was made, Axl was curious, Baz isn't joining the band, the end.

Maybe because VR is the Slash's band and Slash is the historic GNR guitarrist and the most great GNR icon after Axl Rose?
