These fucking ebay and stubhub ticket sales are just ridiculous. All the grubby assholes soak up the tickets and it's US.....the diehard fans that have to crash and burn to scrape together usually double or 3 times the ticket value just to see the acts we generally support.
Just like Pearl Jam's battle with Ticketmaster back in the 90's, I think a mainstream act should take a stand against shit like Stubhub or even ebay for fucking fans over. Didn't Axl do a couple rants about scalpers in some UYI tour shows? I remember reading something on where he was asking people in the front row how much they paid for their seats. Exactly, now that creepy guy outside the venue peddling tickets has become a corporate conglomerate. As a sidenote, I wouldn't pay 1 cent to see Madonna, let alone over face value. I heard she won't even put AC on at her shows because she thinks it messes with her choreography, is this true? Title: Re: StubHub Enlisted in Resale Of Madonna Concert Tickets Post by: mdttkk on May 15, 2008, 02:12:57 AM In a way these ticket sites are both good and bad. I am a poor student but not cheap. If your favorite band came to town and they are a big act, 200-350US a ticket is not that bad for getting seats you pretty much choose. I just spent a buttload on Oasis tickets to get row 3, I think I would rather have people shelling out big money for the good seats instead of some casual fan that got lucky in his ticketmaster search.
Title: Re: StubHub Enlisted in Resale Of Madonna Concert Tickets Post by: axlrosegnr on May 15, 2008, 12:10:57 PM I agree, stubhub and ebay suck....it should be first come, first served. If you want front row, stand in line.
Title: Re: StubHub Enlisted in Resale Of Madonna Concert Tickets Post by: leatherebel on May 15, 2008, 12:23:14 PM Having a decent size GA section solves some of the problem because it puts the spoiled lazy rich fans out of the picture and thus reduces the demand a bit and the price people who want to be in the pit are willing and able to pay.
When they have seats only, the people in the front row end up being mostly celebrities, friends and family of the band, and people working in the media....not necessarily the die-hards the performer would like to see in from of them. Just like axlrosegnr just posted above, that is the point of standing in line and being amongst the first to buy the tickets. You get awesome seats by showing how truly dedicated to the band you are and how long you're willing to stand in line. Not by having the biggest bank account. I also agree with leatherebel and the large GA section. That is what it's all about. That way tickets are devalued and not sought after like dead sea scrolls. Unfortunately in this day and age of albums no longer selling like they used to with downloading and such, band and artists make their money on live shows. If they're able to squeeze more and more out of the consumer by basically scalping their own tickets, they're going to continue to do so. True, but artists like Madonna certainly don't need the money at all. I'm sure theres some kid out there who absolutly idolizes Madonna and would love to have the chance to see her, but won't be able to because the tickets are astronomically priced. Title: Re: StubHub Enlisted in Resale Of Madonna Concert Tickets Post by: TAP on May 16, 2008, 09:07:00 AM Try looking at it from the point of view of artists you don't want to see. Y'all spend a lot of time on the net - buying tickets for huge shows when they go on sale can make you a 100%+ profit in hours. You won't make that on the stock market or anywhere....you may even be able to fill up your cars with gas : ok:

Same here, I only use ticketmaster when absolutley necessary, otherwise the box office is the way to go. Like it or not, Madonna still can put on one helluva show, just as much as Axl can put on one helluva show. Some may say that singing about heroin addiction at 50 is sad as well. Is that adding up yet for you ? Personnally, I wouldn't go to a Madonna show if it was free, BUT, you can't possibly be that close minded to think that nobody would want to. Not everyone in the world is a rock fan.
