Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Hey everyone

Need some help - or/and a keen eye!

I'm (finally) making my five frames/posters of the five GNR shows I've been to (two with the old band, three with the new).

Forum 91, Gentofte 93, Budapest 06, Roskilde 06 and Oslo (second show) 06.

They're kindda collag?s, 30 by 50 cm and mostly audience and city (the given city or venue) pics will be in each, along with date and year (and my rating for that matter). A band member here or there also, sure.

But I need a good pic of Axl (just one) from the 2006 tour. It has to be indoors but other than that.. just bad ass.

There are so many out there, but I'm at a point where I can't see the forest for all the trees now, and some are very obviosuly from specific gigs (Hammerstein shows, Rio 5, RAR, Dublin etc.) and that won't do..

The picture will be used in the Oslo show poster (as I have no good looking shots from that show).

Anyway, Globen is a GREAT venue/arena. Maybe the best in Scandinavia. It's formed like a globe; perfect for hockey, even better for rock n' roll shows. Saw Rush there in 2004.

Hey Rainfox, you could mention that to Lars.  Framed it might make a good birthday present.  That one and the one of Robin bending over backwards.  Any George Chin pictures are good.  This Dizzy and Lars picture is kind of lonely here on my desk--lol

HBK, thanks for the enthusiasm. But like Jarmo says, what I'm searching for is an indoor shot. As I'll be "cheating" a bit with the one Oslo frame and using a picture from another show. But the posters will not be Axl or GNR "tributes", but collag?s, and if tributed to anything, the shows themselves!

- Ha ha, yeah. Actually, I've had these frames planned for a while. I think they're gonna turn out great - mostly pics of the venue, given city and the vibe and then a GNR member here or there. We'll see. I'm getting an offer from a pro computer graphics artist today! He looks expensive, but I think I sweet talked him on the nostalgia of the job!

I just got the review from the 1991 Forum show faxed in  8)

Written by Kim Skotte (now on the famous Danish newspaper Politiken, he was at Fri Aktuelt back then). He was one of the two best rock reviewers from that time in Denmark. Maybe in the last 20 years.

He goes crazy for the show (headline: "Pure, heated rock breath"), but he will always mostly be remembered for his comment in the review of hearing NR for the first time and seeing Rose at the piano for the first time: "Billy Joel on the shithouse/shitter at the Honolulu Bar."

It's meant in a positive tone BTW; he goes nuts for Rose as a performer, singer and songwriter and he compares the band to The Doors.

Anyhow.. I'm getting some of that fax copied in to the collag? - some readable, some not. Think the effect will be great.

Turned in all the pics, clippings and text to the artist this morning... we held a two-hour meeting shooting ideas and getting to know each other. Cool cat. Graphic designer and artist. He'd recently done some commercial work for a major Danish company also - saw some of it. Amazing.

Anyhow.. now the waiting begins..   8)

It'll be five frames, one for each show and printed on canvas. Each frame will have a center or main pic. Apart from that, it's anything goes.

I'd say around 80-90% of the pics that are band related are from the given shows. However, the center pic for the Forum show will be a shot of Axl and Slash back to back (Finland, I think) and the main one for the Oslo gig will be the one above here of Axl at the piano a few nights before in Stockholm. The Gentofte one will be the tour poster, the Budapest one will be of a statue in the city and Roskilde one of.. a dear friend  ;)
