Title: Hookers N Bumblefoot (NY)
Post by: Jay Tea on April 14, 2008, 01:24:00 AM
Ron played some songs with Hookers N Blow tonight.

Used To Love Her (dizzy on rhythm, ron on lead)
Crazy (same)
SCOM (dizzy rhythm, alex lead, ron piano)
KOHD (dizzy piano, ron and alex switch off on lead/rhythm)

he also played about 3 seconds of Guitars Suck after i yelled it out.

Ron also shouted out Dr. Pepper and mentioned that the guy who orchestrated the Dr. Pepper promotion was at the show tonight.

HNB also played the second half of Estranged!!! According to Dizzy this is not usually on the setlist.
Zigi, ISE, Sympathy, Bad Obsession, Dust, Don't Cry, and Locomotive Outro were also played.

I walked in during It's So Easy but i'm pretty sure that was the opener.

One of the openers was a GNR Tribute that I've known for a long time called Appetite For Destruction (NY).
They played alot of Appetite and November Rain.... dressed as 1991-93 GNR.

GREAT SHOW HOOKERS!

Sounds loke a great show..I planned on going..Mostly for HNB, but AFD and Love Hate were reason enough to attend.. Can you have a more GN'R tribute night than that? Dizzy and B-Foot, a GN'R tribute band and former Adlers Appetite/Suki Jones lead singer Jizzy Pearl...
Would have gone but was to tired from yard work so I stayed home and watched the World Champion Red Sox beat up on the Yankees...Good night over all....Perhaps next time..

Mark and John weren't there, I'd recognize them.
There was a lot of photo being taken, didn't see anyone filming.
I really wish more people came. Jaz has a viable excuse.
But I was hoping to see more people from here at the show.

Dizzy's voice sounded very very good last night. Like Axl at times, but with altered phrasing. On Estranged he went for and hit most of the high notes (ie "the storm is getting closer.."). Bumble sang harmonies on SCOM and Used To Love Her and also sounded great.
Crazy started with a call and response guitar riff by dizzy/bumble.

They will be booked there again next time they tour.
The place is The Crazy Donkey www.clubloaded.com
PLEASE GO NEXT TIME AND BRING A FRIEND.

I've was making jokes to my co-workers all day like "Last night is the most fun I've ever had with hookers and blow" or "Long Island is a great place to go for hookers and blow" etc etc.

Dizzy and Jizzy ready to jam at Mo Doggies

by Timothy Flynn | The Flint Journal
Monday April 14, 2008

While the musicians behind the Dizzy and Jizzy Tour take their music very seriously, expect the show to be pretty loose when it hits Mo Doggies on Tuesday.

Fronted by Guns N' Roses keyboardist Dizzy Reed and former Love/Hate vocalist Jizzy Pearl, the show also features backing from a well-traveled hard rock supergroup: Quiet Riot guitarist Alex Grossi, House of Lords/Quiet Riot bassist Chuck Wright, and Puddle of Mudd drummer Dave Moreno.

But while the group, operating under the catchy moniker "Hookers and Blow," is basically a side project, Grossi said the tour is a nice change of pace for all involved.
"It's a combination of goofiness and musicianship," Grossi said following a soundcheck in Richmond, Va. "It's not what people are expecting.

"It's not a sloppy cover band, although we can sometimes be that," the guitarist said with a laugh. "This is a jam band. When we go out with our other bands -- we call them our day jobs -- you have to do the same songs every night, for the lighting guy and the sound man. But with this band, we've never used a set list. Nothing is choreographed, so it's like a big frat party. You never know what's gonna happen."

Given the impromptu nature of the gigs, Grossi said attendees can expect plenty of classic rock covers, as well as a few Love/Hate songs from Pearl. And, of course, the show is sure to be filled with plenty of Guns N' Roses tunes, which suits Grossi just fine.

"We're doing some deeper cuts from the 'Use Your Illusion' albums," the guitarist said, "and we do certain songs that Guns N' Roses have never played live. We do stuff like 'Bad Obsession' and 'Dust and Bones," but I'll leave the rest as a surprise.

"We do the hits too," he added. "You've gotta make everybody happy. But it makes me happy too. Guns N' Roses was my favorite band growing up, and 'Appetite For Destruction' was my first album."

Yeah that is unfortunate more people don't come.  I try to support live music as much as I can because for one, the music biz is pretty tough these days for small bands.

HnB always give 100% and put out one hell of a show. I'm glad they are on the road so others get to see them but I miss having Dizzy here in LA where you can catch him and co. nearly each week.  BTW Jizzy's been posting random tour shots on his myspace.

He is their tour manager.

Looks like Estranged is becoming a regular on the setlist. Last night they've done it again (without Ron).

Somehow by me saying that it must of been a great show, it automatically promoted me to their manager.

No, I was not at the show - hence the "must of been"...

I think their tour is over for now.

Possibly they'll have more shows later this year.

I SOOOO want them to come back to Connecticut.

The last time they were around, and I could go...I snagged tickets.  I can't remember if it was a the Webster or at the Hard Rock down in Foxborough...

I never made it to the show though (which is probably why I block out where it was).  Something "exploded" at work and I got stuck pulling an all nighter trying to put the pieces back together.

Next time they schedule  a show, though...I'm gonna try to go again.
