Title: Kix
Post by: RebelRose89 on April 12, 2008, 03:18:10 PM
80's Pop Metal Band from Baltimore...  their stuff is pretty catchy. It's a mix between AC/DC and 80's metal... I'm addicted to it right now though.

Anyone else fans???

Here's some of their clame to fame videos

http://youtube.com/watch?v=A_Qg2dSHzgA  - cold blood

http://youtube.com/watch?v=q0mbH7W5bzg - blow my fuse

http://youtube.com/watch?v=eivyAnydJ5E&feature=related - girl money

Thank you.  No Kix thread would be complete without it.

Awesome, much better song title.

Man, I never thought I'd see a Kix thread on a GN'R board!

Don't lose Your Eyes is an okay song. I couldn't listen to anything else by them though.

oh come on! there are def leppard, bon jovi, etc threads. I don't see this as that big a leap - quite possibly a step up.

and on the relation to AC/DC - You can see with the vocals they sound Bon influenced as well as the lyrics.
The music (guitar driven) at points has that Angus riffing with flashes of 80's pop metal. More like Money Talks AC/DC than anything.

Anyone see them recently? I know they tour now and again - but I'm wondering how Whiteman's vocals have held up before I go and see them.

Kix a step up from Bon Jovi or Def Leppard? You're an idiot.

Where's Kix's Slippery or Hysteria?

Kix are about ten steps below someone like Pretty Boy Floyd.

hey no need to be so harsh man, all in all your right in that their no Def Leppard or Bon Jovi in regards to mainstream popularity and overall album sales (my taste got the better of my judgement on that - my bad!!!) - but their Slippery / Hysteria was Blow My Fuse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blow_My_Fuse)  Now I'm not saying their a better group  than Def Leppard or Bon Jovi, but their a steady middle of the pack kind of group.

and that Pretty Boy Floyd jab was pretty deep    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6dAlp-1CHU - still say that bassist isn't fully a male!

we all have the first PBF album im some format. (glam fans)

whether we like it or not is a different question. Personally i feel i could just listen to poison as PBF seem like a rip off of them, but they do have some fun songs like 48 hours to rock! XD

personally my favourites of PBF include Backseat Shake, I Wanna Be With You, Set The Night on Fire, & Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz.

oddly enough anyone readin' the thread would assume a Kix - Pretty Boy Floyd tour would be in the works! :hihi:

I know Whiteman... I used to work at a radio station in Pennsylvania/Maryland, the same area where Kix is from.  They still play a couple times a year and draw a decent sized crowd.  His other band is called "Funny Money."  They released a new album about a year and a half ago.  You can find them here http://www.funnymoneyband.com/  His voice still sounds great (he does vocal teaching) and he told me 1 time about playing with GNR in LA before GNR got signed.  Said Axl was very cool and polite and wanted to learn everything that he could from Steve since Kix was signed at that point.

PS... their best song, IMO, is The Itch and if you want to laugh hysterically... find Kix's "Body Talk" video on youtube.

oh cool thanks man for the info; I'll deffinitely catch a show or two when/if they come around town!
love 'The Itch' - the line that gets me everytime is when Steve sings before the solo "I've Got Ants In My Pants....Let's Dance!" the way he sings it is f'n hysterical  :hihi:
