DUFF MCKAGAN's LOADED To Enter Studio This Month - Apr. 1, 2008

LOADED, the band formed by current VELVET REVOLVER bassist Duff McKagan (on guitar and vocals) after he left GUNS N' ROSES, is currently working on a new, yet-to-be-titled studio album, to be released in the summer, with tours to follow.

Commented McKagan: "I'm currently finishing up the UK/Euro leg on the VELVET REVOLVER tour and we have played some of the most inspired gigs of my lifetime in the last couple of weeks. Been writing a ton of music too and generally have just been wholly re-inspired music-wise."

He added, "LOADED looks to record a follow-up to 'Dark Days' here in late April or so and we are totally looking forward to just hanging with each other again."

LOADED was formed in 1999 and has morphed several times, releasing two albums: 1999's "Live Episode" and 2001's "Dark Days". The group's current lineup includes drummer Geoff Reading (NEW AMERICAN SHAME, GREEN APPLE QUICKSTEP), bassist Jeff Rouse and guitarist Mike Squires (both formerly of ALIEN CRIME SYNDICATE).

Glad Loaded are writing a new album, I can't wait. Always loved that band, nearly got to see them in London a few years back.

I would be just as happy if Duff stuck with Loaded on a full time basis. Dark Days is one of my favorite albums. I really hope they do a tour in the US in smaller clubs.  : ok:

That's good news to me. I always liked Duff's vocals. I have "Believe in Me" and the Neurotic Outsiders album, and in both he really rocks! It's time for him to shine a little too.

The 1 or 2 songs Ive heard from Loaded are great. This will be a nice break from the VR drama. Too bad Scott could not just drop the shit and leave things alone and leave open the possibility of reconvening a year down the road.

Coming out of the VR tour/album maybe more mainstream people will pay attention to Loaded this time around. 

I think Believe In Me is OK, and I love the Neurotic Outsiders album, but for some great Duff songs you should check out Dark Days by Loaded and Beautiful Disease is probably my favorite post guns album by any former member.

What, Beautiful Disease was ever released, I thought it haven't.. I'll check out this Loaded album, thanks for the tip!

Duff had stated a while back (before the VR mess) that VR is still his main band-he said in a post on the VR board that he is simply into making a lot of music right now-I have a feeling things would have been quiet on the VR front for a few months anyway-I think Loaded is the type of band that can record an album pretty quick-btw, where did Duff mention writing with Izzy?

Well, tonite we start the Loaded trip?Mike, Geoff, and myself will get in a room and start the writing process (we all have a ton of stuff to work on already, so well be busy). Jeff Rouse will join us Thursday. Im f#ckin jazzed!
Other news: I got to play on Izzy?s new record yesterday in Ojai?another stellar outing by that dude I must say. Always a pleasure hanging with that guy, a true gentleman.

Isn't it great that Izzy doesn't take sides (unlike most members of this board)? He can record with Duff, Slash, ... and join Axl with the new lineup on tour. That's what rock 'n' roll is all about!

About 'Beautiful Disease', yep it's a great album. Sometimes you can find it on eBay but you'll have to pay about 500 USD to get it. I got my copy years ago when it still looked like it was gonna be released and only paid 20 or 30 USD for it.

Yeah Izzy does come off as the most mature out of all the original members by far to me. One thing i've always wondered that doeesn't seem to get mentioned is whether Duff and Axl have spoken since he left. You always hear about how Slash hasn't spoken to Axl since 96' but no one mentions if it's the same case with Duff. Beautiful Disease is a great album. I downloaded mine tho, guilt free since no album is worth 5 hundo.

i got home from the first day in the studio a couple of hours ago and i'm just starting to come down. we got drums and most of the bass for three songs. it was a f*ckin breeze. it was so much fun. our good friend and dark days producer and studio owner ( and keyboard player in all the japanese videos) martin, is a dream to work with and its so good to spend time with him again. it sounds SOOOOO HUGE. can't wait for you guys to hear em.

But the Velvet Revolver bassist also had some more to say about his own band's upcoming album. "Lenny Kravitz wants to record us. Daniel Lanois, we want to do a track with. Pharrell will probably do one," said McKagan. "And then a myriad of others are doing two or three songs each." As for his favorite track thus far: "A song called 'Wasted Heart' is great. Kind of a back-to-Exile on Main Street-type of song." . . .

Former GUNS N' ROSES star DUFF MCKAGAN is a massive fan of British pop band GIRLS ALOUD - and has offered to support the group on an upcoming tour.
The rocker, who now plays bass for Velvet Revolver and sings in his own band Loaded, recently admitted to being a follower of the Biology hitmakers and even got in touch with the girls to offer his backing.
Bandmember Cheryl Cole admits she was shocked to hear from MCKagan - but was flattered when he told her the five-piece could use his band on their next string of live dates.
She tells Attitude magazine, "He offered to give us his band to take with us on tour. I mean Guns N' Roses? What's going on?"
