Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. GNR Mentioned Post by: kobys on March 28, 2008, 11:50:02 AM Slash comes off as being very intelligent and well spoken. Also, he didn't even smoke during the interview!
Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. GNR Mentioned Post by: cyllan on March 28, 2008, 02:08:36 PM Cool interview...... GNR Mentioned among other things... Yes, but just as interestingly, in my view, was the fact that his current band and its future (or lack of it) was not addressed directly at all, nor was there any mention of his proposed solo album. I only managed to discern a veiled reference when the interviewer asked his opinion on internal feuds in bands like The Police and he replied that he wasn't really aware of it and anyway "[he'd] got enough issues of his own". The fact that he didn't appear to make any effort to promote VR makes me highly suspicious of his remark earlier in the week about this not being VR's last tour. Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. GNR Mentioned Post by: AdZ on March 28, 2008, 02:11:18 PM Did he basically call Amy Winehouse an amateur?

In reference to her drug intake, I think. Not in so many words, though. Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. GNR Mentioned Post by: cyllan on March 28, 2008, 02:47:11 PM Did he basically call Amy Winehouse an amateur? Well by his standards of "recreational chemical" use*, she probably is. ;D * In former years, I hasten to add. I'm not suggesting that he currently indulges to the same extent. Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. GNR Mentioned Post by: Smoking Guns on March 28, 2008, 04:00:36 PM Great interview.

Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. GNR Mentioned Post by: SpiritDave on March 28, 2008, 08:13:30 PM Did he basically call Amy Winehouse an amateur? Absolutely not ... there's no such thing as a pro or amateur drug taker ... what Slash was saying quite clearly, was that he doesn't see her drug taking as that big of a deal. I suspect he was baffled at why the question was even asked. Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. No, as far as I understood it he was referring to the ridiculous media over exposure and sensationalism. He said her situation didnt seem that big of a deal to him, and it doesnt seem like a big deal to me either. She is just another junkie who uses drugs, big fucking deal. Curse these camera phones, you cant take a dump and read the paper in peace now without it turning up on News 24. Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. Why do I have to give you a break? I was hardly insulting you :) Chill out. And professional drug users can be classified as someone like a student who takes a pill or two for a few dollars for medical research. But rock stars? No. Never. It's never been a profession. It's been a result of being a professional in an industry that is surrounded by those things ... but never a profession. :) Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. Well, I regard this as way more interesting than Gordon Brown's latest shit... so hardly shame on Sky :) Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. My late uncle was a heroin addict from the age of 14. Towards the end he started getting bad stuff. He would punch himself in the face until he was bloody. He would scream himself hoarse. He would go outside and run in circles and turn somersaults. Anyway, I hope Slash and Co. can keep themselves clean. Drug addiction's no good for anyone. Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... Cool interview stream. GNR Mentioned Post by: FunkyMonkey on March 29, 2008, 09:06:21 PM ^^From an US Magazine interview with Scott Weiland in 1998...his take on heroin:
You compare heroin addiction to being a vampire. How so? When it starts out, you go to these great places at night. And you become part of your own secret group. But after awhile it stops being like that. Because you're like, 'I gave this up for my real life and for my soul.' And it becomes something you need just to stay well. If you don't have it, you're sick, and you long for the life you had before. You stop going out... stop wearing flashy clothes... and you stop caring. [Starts eating roasted vegetables from a silver tray with his Vamped fingers, which become very shiny with oil] I don't eat very much, you know. I eat, like, salad. Do you remember how it felt when you first tried heroin? I fell in love with it right away. It scared me for a long time. But, um... [Pauses] It ruined the relationship with my wife. I turned my brother on to it and cursed him. I turned him into one of the undead. How long was it a good experience? It was fun for about two years. With brief periods of pain and misery. But I bought into the myth. After about three months I didn't even care about having sex. I didn't have sex for six months with my wife. [Pauses] You don't age. You don't age until you stop doing it. Keith Richards looked great until 1981. Um, but...um. I love to do it. I'd love to do it right now. Oh? If I had some of it on me right now, I guarantee I could get you to do it in a second. How would you do that? I have some dope. Do you want to do that? Then I would say, "Nah, I'm too afraid." And I'd say, "Afraid? That's OK. I'll show you how. I've got two clean needles in my pocket. If you don't want to shoot up, you can snort it, or smoke it. It'll give you the best high you'll ever get. It's like you're being embraced and called by God." [Leans Forward] The first time I ever did it, I felt like I found the keys to unlock the doors to all the secrets. It's like... it goes right to the pit of your stomach, then it crawls up to your lungs, then it rushes to your head. And it's warm; you just close your eyes and smile. And... it's hard talking about it. [Looks around the room] I wanna smoke a cigarette or something. http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Arena/7587/usmag.html Title: Re: Slash on SKY NEWS...... GNR Mentioned Post by: FunkyMonkey on March 30, 2008, 12:32:03 PM damn shame he turned his brother into it.. didn't his brother die of an overdose last year? From an interview with Scott in Blender August 2007... What was the single worst day of your life? walter.pk, Benton City, WA I have two. When I got arrested for possession for the fourth time, I felt beyond a shadow of a doubt that I would lose my wife and kids. I was either gonna get clean or hang myself. The other was the day my brother died, earlier this year. It was an overdose, but it was horrible not knowing whether it was suicide or not ? we just assumed it was due to the state he?d been in. The coroner?s report finally came back, and it was cardiomyopathy, the same thing that killed Jim Morrison. He was four and a half years younger than me. We were always really close as kids. We?d get kicked out of the house and hole up together. But then we hit this stretch where I?d get clean and he?d be using, then he?d get clean and I?d be using, and that sort of made the distance grow between us. Finally, three and a half years ago, I got clean, and we pretty much stopped talking. I said I?d never be judgmental toward anybody, but I started to be toward him ?cause it pissed me off so much. He was losing his family right in front of his eyes. The police found a message he?d scribbled across his fridge, telling himself to stay alive for his daughters. |
