BSW, bullshit worker, and then I got street smarts.  Neither one pays very well but the later one helped me survive.

Oh wait there was all the sex and partying in college.  Didn't get a degree but I turned pro.

What is that old college saying?

BS = bullshit
MS = more shit
Ph.D = Piled higher and deeper ;D

I remember my last semester of college, I would hit the college bar on campus and have a glass of wine before class and my professor who was a recovering alcoholic would walk by me and just shake his head.

Another story is that I had to read The Scarlett Letter.  Well, I didn't.  I didn't even buy the cliffnotes.  So when it came time to write an essay on it, my professor knew I had bullshitted it and he gave me a C- and said, "I really should fail you since you didn't read it, but you did such a wonderful job creatively bullshitting this, I am passing you with a C-" :rofl:

Also, in British Literature, we had to read Ulysses by James Joyce.  The same professor who was extremely intelligent...thank god for that man because he was able to actually make my college years fun and bearable.  But how he summed up Ulyssess and this is the absolute truth....... he said

"She was fucked by him, he was fucked by her......life will fuck with you".

My chin dropped.  I was like, "I just paid $300 to hear that?"  But let me tell you, he was dead on with his commentary.

It's weird looking back at college because netscape navigator was just coming out when I graduated and so was telephone registration.

Now, I hear a lot of people who say they don't have the time to go to school and they can take classes online.

I think they were tired of seeing me walk the halls of college.

I got a Bachelor's at Ball State in good ole Muncie, Indiana. Marketing and theatre - double majored. Payed for everything and am still paying. That's why I won't go back - some friends did nothing and make more money than me and some friends did more and make less or just a little higher. I don't get it. And it seems experience means more to companies than school these days - well it depends on the field but as much as I loved college, I could have bullshitted my way to where I am now in life. Seriously. Instead I have to pay for something that really wasn't worth it. Not telling you guys to quit school because I believe there are some things you need to learn there. But I guess I'm just a bit jaded about college.

Oh....you're smart to figure that one out!

There are two things I do whenever I want to feel smart: 1) Go to Walmart at any time of the day and/or 2) Take that peg IQ test at any Cracker Barrel.

If it ain't a top (ten) school in the field you are interested, don't bother going in debt. Instead, find the cheapest next alternative - scholarships/assistantships or if that can't happen, go thru a community college for awhile.

And yeah dolphin, your definition is really smart...except that the higher you go (and in more shit) the cheaper it gets to get that education and the more opportunities you get afterwards.....I am yet to see one person who paid a penny for getting a ph.d.

By the end of this year I will be a Certified Apple Technician.  I also have a 4 year teaching degree from The University of Technology, Sydney.

Teaching is quite shithouse IMHO.

I'm an incomplete Petrol Engineer, Economist and Mathematician.

Good way to go 30k in debt.

These days I'm a conspiracy theorist historian psychologist philosopher.

And I have a phd in pick up lines and rolling joints.

So my advice would be to not graduate anything. Who are they to tell what you know or don't know?

Alright!!  LOL!  Put that in your pipe!   :rofl:

You know what?  It doesn't matter.  You can have this huge awesome degree and be working at fucking Big Boy.  You could have quit high school and be a millionaire.  Is it all that?  I think not.  I don't give a shit about someone's "degree".  Interesting to hear what people are about, but I'm not so sure it's all real.

Ok, seriously, like anyone really cares here, I put in 2 years of college, drifting.  Then went to a business school.  Why?  I had nothing better to do.  Very few options there, and I had no clue what I really wanted to do.  I ended up graduating, two years later, with a certificate, and ended up working as a legal secretary for a couple different attorneys.  Great experience that I do not regret - pay sucked ass.  So, I ended up in a 1 yr nursing program - why?  Never wanted to be a nurse.  But, hey, the program was totally paid for, as well as my housing, gas, babysitting, etc. because I was a single parent.  Hey!  So, I ended up being a nurse, only because I knew I needed to find something with better pay & benefits. So here I am.  Was it better?  At first, no.  I chose to take a 9-5 job at a local doctor's office - for shit pay - but I was home with my kid at night & on wknds & holidays.  Now, I work for twice that in a better place, but my kid is grown up & on his own.  Now, I'm in the process of going for my RN license, hopefully with bachelor's degree.  And if anyone, here, really gives a shit about all that & actually read it....well..... :beer:

College is so worth it if you get the right degree.  Threatre is useless for most.  Marketing should land you a decent job.
