Title: Eric Clapton Thread Post by: Malcolm on February 29, 2008, 02:22:59 PM Only seen one for Cream so I made one...Not a huge fan...but I love the acoustic version of 'Layla'...what are some other of his biggest mainstream hits beside Tears,Wonderful and Cocaine?
The first couple of dates have been announced for Eric Claptons upcoming tour of North America. The guitar hero is expected to visit nearly a dozen cities in the US and Canada, starting in early May with shows in Tampa and Hollywood, FL. Clapton and his band will also pass through Atlantic City and Holmdel, NJ; Noblesville, IN; Uncasville, CT; Wantagh, NY; Cleveland; Boston; Toronto; and Montreal, according to his website. The Florida shows, listed below, go on sale to the general public this weekend. The rest of the dates, details for which have yet to be announced, are expected to go on sale beginning March 8. Tonight (2/28), Clapton will wrap a sold-out, three-night stand with Steve Winwood [ tickets ] at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The performers, who played together briefly in the 1960s supergroup Blind Faith, had not performed a full concert together in nearly 40 years. They connected last summer during an impromptu reunion at Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago. Clapton is also featured on Winwood's latest single, "Dirty City," from his forthcoming album, "Nine Lives." As far as his hits:
Bell Bottom Blues Lay Down Sally I Shot The Sheriff Foreverman After Midnight HE's got alot and at the moment I'm having trouble remembering what were his solo hits and what came with Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, Blind Faith, or the Yardbirds. Im going to try to make that Tampa show. Tickets at the Hard Rock in Hollywood are ridiculously overpriced. I said it. They had good songs, but he was a vagina face by then. Once he left the Les Paul to Marshall combo, he started writing pussy songs like "lay down sally" or lame covers of KOHD, or "I shot the sherriff" and "Wonderful Tonight". Are any of those songs good? Sure.. but a Guitar God like Eric shouldn't be associated with those neutered messes. Its like he was running from his fame. After Cream I have zero interest. I agree totally, my wife loves him and always has it going. I think everything he did after cream is highly overrated as well. Title: Re: Eric Clapton Thread Post by: russkwtx on March 02, 2008, 08:49:29 PM National Public Radio (USA) is reporting that Clapton has been invited by NORTH KOREA to a concert there.
After that, one can only hope GNR is next! Imagine the chaos Axl could cause to that commie country! : ok: Title: Re: Eric Clapton Thread Post by: fuckin crazy on March 02, 2008, 10:02:29 PM Eric Clapton bores me to death. Here is a good bio: http://www.dinosaurrockguitar.com/bios/Clapton.shtml It has been a while since I thought about it, but wasn't the Dominoes an early 70s band, and work you "mentioned" late 70s? I saw him in 76 or 77 with some chick, and I don't think anyone left the hall without their jaws hanging slack. EDIT: Maybe not appropriate(delete if it isn't), but that day was the first time I ever paid over $100 for an lbs Title: Re: Eric Clapton Thread Post by: Kujo on March 02, 2008, 11:28:32 PM It has been a while since I thought about it, but wasn't the Dominoes an early 70s band, Yep Title: Re: Eric Clapton Thread Post by: Genesis on March 03, 2008, 12:12:44 AM I just like him in Cream and D&D.
