Title: Career Dilemna
Post by: Jessica on February 18, 2008, 07:53:31 PM
Hi guys

Right,

Here is my problem :

A while back, i have started this assessment, a professional one.
It's to re evalue all my skills and try to find myself professionally speaking.

After being tested, a few leads appeared and i was talked about being ideal for the scientific police department.

In itself, it is fascinating, that's not the problem.

The second leads, as important, were extremely artistic and i am not decided because there are too many types of job around and the assessment is not over ( i have 10 more hours to do).

My problem is that i feel like the woman who does the assessment has decided i'd join the SCI ( like you know, you feel she is almost paid to make you enroll ?) and i feel threatened by it now.

AM i stupid ?

Well, it depends on a variety of factors.  Family comes first.  What job down the road will allow you the time you need/desire with your children?  If I was a woman that would be my 1st concern and it would weigh heavily on my decision.

Is money a big issue?

Is training/education time a big factor?

Well, with the SCI, there is one year of training before knowing IF you can stay or not.

As it is the police, the positive thing is that you are salaried for " life" and have a pension as early as 50 and helps to get a home ( although, i would die if i had to live in police surroundings/neighbours) .

The negativity of it is having weird duty times.

With a family, the good aspect is a not so good salary but never worry about being laid off and do something fascinating and the negative one is having to say " sorry darling, mum won't be here all night because she has to work".

The change of caree is not immediate anyway, as the national tests are in october and i have to find an assisting job and work for 18 months before i can start any full time training anyway.

well.. it seems like a good idea to have a fellow gunner in SCI, just in case I commit a crime, so go for it :)

 :peace: : ok:

Crede quod habes, et habes.

Follow your heart girl, only thing you can trust.
