Title: Good Idea that may be better, less confusing than the Karma
Post by: D on February 11, 2008, 08:47:07 PM
Instead of the karma, Since no one has any idea how many means u are banned, how bout u use soccer type rules.

If someone is in danger of being banned they get a Yellow Card.

Last Warning u get a double Yellow card.

For a month with the double yellow, u aren't allowed to do certain things "Maybe start threads or something, I don't know* and if u don't break any rules within that month u go back to a yellow, nother month u are back to being free.

If u have a double yellow, the slightest infraction warrants a ban.

I believe the karma system works fine for us...

Besides, whoever gets banned, he's/she's been warned a few times.

Those who haven't been warned, knew they were trying to get banned.

So I've yet to be warned, does that mean I can continue arguing with the Westside Story Street Team in that one thread without worryin bout being banned?

Everybody I've seen get banned, was warned out in the open a few times. To me, it seems like you really have to try and get banned.

If I remember I've seen people get suspended from the forum for a few days to cool down too.

I support this new method. I cant respect it though until I can see the contributions it brings to HTGTH for myself. I mean it is replacing a legend. Karma brought us some of the best bannings of all time. You just dont replace that. Just because it has worked in other places, doesnt mean it is worthy of working for Jarmo on this legendary sight. All these people ready to annoint this as the greatest thing ever really piss me off.

Correct in both cases.

People think we use the karma feature as some kind of popularity contest. like I guess it was originally intended, but it's just a way to keep track of who has been warned.

In the past, we might've warned the same guy ten times and nothing happened. Now we can see exactly how many times the person has done something we think deserved a warning.

yeah, it's actually really easy to "stay unbanned"

i've been warned 2 or 3 times in PMs just sayin' that i should stop whatever bullshit i was on about, it's all cool, i'm glad jarmo does it this way with warnings 'cause i can't imagine a day with access to a computer but no access to htgth

I'm confused.  All I know is that Yellow Card was never in The Pretenders.

The system does this kind of shit. It's got a mind of its own.

I mean, who'd blame it?

You keep on trying to fuck it, replace it... with yellow cards?

I'd give you -20 if I was the system.

Yeah , till he accidentally drops something and bends over to pick it up . Then He hears D's pants hit the floor.

Or he wakes up dressed as a sheep with a sore bum.

Reminds me of that scene from 'The Whole Ten Yards' with Matthew Perry and Bruce Willis. ;D
