Title: Adobe doesnt work with Windows Vista, Is there something else I can use?
Post by: D on February 01, 2008, 03:38:19 PM
I need to access an important document on my brother's computer.

He has Windows Vista and the Adobe writer isn't compatible with it.

Is there another program I can download and use to open it with?

I know that the Adobe Acrobat Reader is compatible, and that is free

do you need the writer for anything specific?

I'm very ignorant when it comes to these confounded machines, but when I try to access something like this, it won't work. I have adobe 7 on my box?

Adobe Reader works fine on my Vista as well. What is the extension of the document you're trying to open? .PDF? If that's the case, it will work on Vista.

That works fine on my Windows Vista machine. Maybe it has something to do with what browser you're using?

I downloaded the latest Adobe that is compatible with Vista

Everytime I try to open the .pdf document, the internet explorer restarts and everything automatically closes down.

Its a student loan form that has to be signed and faxed in and it will not open it.

That did the trick. Apparently I had an older version on this machine. Thanks.

That problem is easy to fix, get rid of IE. I have Firefox on my Vista machine and I've never had a problem opening .pdf files with it.
