Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: clau68 on January 23, 2008, 12:12:39 PM I always like shotgun blues, I also think is an underrated song.
Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: Eclipsed107 on January 23, 2008, 02:33:55 PM Shotgun Blues was never one of my favorites, but it's alright. It's not a track I'd ever have the urge to put on, but not a track I'd skip either.
Gn'R should have played Don't Damn Me live, at every concert. That's probably my favorite song. Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: Alpachiris on January 23, 2008, 03:09:32 PM this song is fucking amazing!!
Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: 1badapple on January 23, 2008, 03:19:58 PM I'd love to hear Don't Damn Me live. One of my fav GnR tunes.
Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: Feel_The_Burn on January 23, 2008, 03:26:25 PM Correct me if I'm wrong but I read somewhere about those songs not played live , I think Axl said that artistically he felt he got the message across enough in the songs and didn't find a need to do them live. I'm almost certain those are the only 3 not played!
Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: bodine on January 23, 2008, 03:36:46 PM Correct me if I'm wrong but I read somewhere about those songs not played live , I think Axl said that artistically he felt he got the message across enough in the songs and didn't find a need to do them live. I'm almost certain those are the only 3 not played! I recall that Locomotive was going to be played live with Jeff Beck in Paris I believe, but he couldn't make it and they didn't do the song... I didn't think they played that song live any other time but I could be wrong. Guns is really unique in that , i don't think i've seen many bands play as many songs as they did , as in like out of 3 albums they played all but what 3 or 4 songs? thats a really crazy thought. Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: burnz007 on January 23, 2008, 09:54:48 PM It surprises me that they've never played Shotgun Blues live.
Don't Damn Me I can understand, it's pretty difficult song to play (well, for me it is) and seems tough vocally too. But Shotgun Blues is pretty straightforward... can't imagine why they never played it. I've always liked the song It's one of the UYI tracks that were never played live. Others are Don't Damn Me, Get In The Ring and My World. /jarmo Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: clarkwork0 on January 24, 2008, 04:05:46 PM Speaking of Don't Damn Me, I have always wanted to know the story behind Axl saying at the end "alright that sucked". Has there ever been anything said to explain that?
Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: Feel_The_Burn on January 24, 2008, 04:17:44 PM Speaking of Don't Damn Me, I have always wanted to know the story behind Axl saying at the end "alright that sucked". Just off the top of my head (I didn't bother looking through all my old tapes and cd's): Breakdown - Madison Square Garden, December '91 The Garden - numerous shows in early '93 during the Dust N' Bones tour Garden of Eden - Austin I think, early '93 Don't Cry (alt) - summer '92 in Prague I think, also one of the Inglewood '91 gigs with Shannon Hoon perhaps? Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: demo23nz on January 25, 2008, 03:59:16 AM Lol bad apples makes me  idk why. Guns is really unique in that , i don't think i've seen many bands play as many songs as they did , as in like out of 3 albums they played all but what 3 or 4 songs? thats a really crazy thought. There are plenty of bands that play as many songs as GnR, but what makes them standout a bit is the fact that they were playing huge, long stadium headline slots so early in their career... So they really had to play most of their material from those albums just to keep it interesting, whereas most big bands like the Stones/U2/Springsteen etc have so many more albums to choose tracks from that they're more likelyly to only wor up some of their newer tunes to play live. Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: Megaguns on January 25, 2008, 06:06:00 AM ive adored this song for years....
"Did you think that anyone with an IQ over 15 was gonna believe your shit...... fuckhead.......nothing but a fucking pussy" that is so fucking cool.... cmon... you know it. Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: ShotgunBlues1978 on January 25, 2008, 09:00:00 PM Shotgun Blues is a funny song and a cool rocker. I chose it for my username because the title sounds cool, not one of GnR's best but a fun and entertaining song
"You say I walk the line FUCK! You move it every time" Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: Feel_The_Burn on January 25, 2008, 11:25:42 PM An while your rippin' off children

Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: Feel_The_Burn on January 26, 2008, 01:22:09 PM lol shotgun blues is by far the gn?r song I dislike most (My World doesn?t count)... I always skip that song! :P Really?! It's not that bad of a song , the solo is blistering too , decent lyrics.... Sounds a bit like something that should have been on AFD maybe.. Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: Will on January 26, 2008, 04:29:44 PM At a show in Saratoga in june 1991, Axl actually made the audience sing the words "Get In The Ring..Get In The Ring...Get In The Ring..." several times in a row so they could record it for the song. They never did play it in its entirety. That's too bad. ;D
Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: judaskennedy on January 27, 2008, 03:55:04 AM fuck ya that songs the shit.

Axl is obviously directing the anamosity at someone.... Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: demo23nz on January 27, 2008, 06:52:47 AM Big chunks of it are about Vince Neil I believe.
Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: whiny on January 27, 2008, 10:49:53 AM i always liked the fact that axl played rhythm on this one. decent rocker. bad-boy-macho-lyrics. but way better than get in the ring. hemingway for paranoid rockers.
Title: Re: Shotgun blues the shit Post by: BlowUpYourVideo on January 27, 2008, 10:53:18 AM Big chunks of it are about Vince Neil I believe. As is Aerosmith's Dude (Looks Like A Lady). Some people really have it in for Vince. :hihi: |
