For those of you who don't have this book yet, The Language Of Fear by Del James will be reprinted by March 2008.

For those of you who have no idea about this book, it includes the story that inspired the #1 hit video November Rain by Guns N' Roses!!!  : ok:

Excellent.  I still have my old copy, though.  I wonder if there will be any updates, though, especially any mentioning of "Shattered Illusions", that biography Del was going to write on GN'R.

Besides, I'm pretty sure Del will have many more chapters to write in the near future, if he ever decides to publish a GN'R bio.

That's fantastic news.  I've been trying to get my hands on a copy for 14 years but never wanted to pay the ridiculous prices found on ebay and other sites.  Can't wait to finally read the story.  Doesn't Axl write the forward?

I've been very interested in this book for a long time now and I only see the ones on e-bay and other various websites selling for 100+ dollars. I anxiously anticipate reading about one of my favorite songs.

The book isn't about November Rain. 'Language of Fear' inspired the video. Though I guess the main character was based on Axl.
I read the book some years ago and wasn't impressed.

The NR video was inspired in a short story called "without you" that D.J. wrote inspired in the relationship of Axl and Erin, inspired not based (just wanted to clarify this) and this short story is in the book " Language of fear" with other short stories as well. :)

A few years ago I was trying to get a permission to translate it to Greek for my site but I was told that Del would reprint it in 2 years or something. I believe his previous contract (or book deal) expired or something so now he could reprint it.

Then someone told me about this reprint thing about a month ago.

Apparently it would be available online by January but I haven't seen it anywhere yet.

But it will be available in book stores by March 2008 (ofcourse if all goes well, reckless road got delayed cause shit happens in life).

IMO Del is a modern day Charles Dickens. His stories are brilliant! He totally exposes the dark side of LA, the same way that dickens exposed the dark side of Victorian London.

Well, at the time I made the request through a 3rd person and I don't have any idea if it ever reached Del.

Even though I had a chance to ask Del himself, I never tried again...

It's a story I love but given the fact that it's someone's hard work (and Del is a person I respect very much) and it will be on sale again very soon, I wouldn't want to give it to people for free.

The only reason I wanted to do it, was cause the book had sold out a long time ago and GN'R fans should get a chance to read this story...

I bought it in 95 or 96 on paperback, I think-it was good-there is an introduction in the book, kind of long, by Axl, which was neat

For anyone that is doubting this, I coincidently asked Del about this over the weekend (before this thread was started) and he told me had been hoping for a Christmas release, but that obviously hadn't happened. Hopefully by the end of January it will be available to order online for somewhere in the ten dollar range, and it will be in bookstores by late March. Contrary to what I had heard, he implied that he is still putting the finishing touches on Celebration of Pain (a novel, not a collection of short stories).

In any event, I'm looking forward to it, as I simply couldn't afford the 100-150 on Amazon.

Del has been riding the tidal wave of GnR since the beginning. I dislike the guy, If id met him maybe i would like him but from what im aware he has been an ass licker for years. I couldnt give a shit about the guys book. Thats just my opinion, flame on.

I'm in no way challenging what you say...this is good news all around.  Still, I find it odd that Amazon.com has no reference to the book being available in just two months.  They always list books far in advance - often up to 6 months or more - and have pre-sale prices, advance notices, etc.  As of right now, there's nothing referencing a reprint...

Guess we'll have to wait and see...

Heard from Del today, that the book is going to hit Amazon.com any day now.

EDIT - Here is Del's direct quote "The Language Of Fear is slated for re-release anyday now through Amazon. Do not pay the jacked up Ebay prices! Wait til it's available for around $10."

Yeah I am surprized Del didn't try for this before. I got lucky and ordered several for friends and I when It first came out. I am not much of a Horror reader (love movies and some Steven King). But Dels book is great. It's been years now sense I last read it, but I bet i have read it 5 times. I never did that with any other book. Its a good one to carry around. Short stories always work for airplanes and doctors offices. Always wanted to see this some of it on film!!

I believe the main problem was his book deal... They keep you tied for several years, I think that was the case with Del's book...

I got the last new copy of the book they had. They only have the used copies now.

I don't understand why you can't order it. Usually you can order it even if it is back ordered. It doesn't even come up.

I like the fact that B&N shows a cover marked "all-new edition," but still find it really odd that Amazon doesn't reference or list this new edition in any way.  Hopefully that changes soon...

The Boarders website kind of confused me to be honest, but I but it my zip code and 2 stores have it locally, so it's out there if you guys want it. I'll probably pick mine up tomorrow night.

Up until a few years ago I'd never even known much about Del or his involvement with GNR let alone this book. Sounds like Stephen King meets James Patterson, and I like both Authors, so me thinks I'm gonna be picking this up.

I don't read books very often, and usually they're about a band or an actor. But I really like Del's stories, I like his style.  :beer:

Am I the only one here who thinks Del should drop a couple interviews to help promote the book, more so then just Guns fans, and horror sci-fi fans - I feel like if he was to do an interview, it'd be all over the net on various sites, and might have more publicity.

I don't know it is the second pressing. I think maybe he should get it up there on other sites like dread central. You need to promote where your audience is.  In the mean time just spread the word.
