I wonder if there will be any updates, though, especially any mentioning of "Shattered Illusions", that biography Del was going to write on GN'R. Besides, I'm pretty sure Del will have many more chapters to write in the near future, if he ever decides to publish a GN'R bio. Title: Re: The Language Of Fear REPRINTED by March 2008!!! Post by: Christos AG on January 22, 2008, 07:44:05 AM Where did you find this information at? where did you hear about this and where will it be available? A few years ago I was trying to get a permission to translate it to Greek for my site but I was told that Del would reprint it in 2 years or something. I believe his previous contract (or book deal) expired or something so now he could reprint it. Then someone told me about this reprint thing about a month ago. Apparently it would be available online by January but I haven't seen it anywhere yet. But it will be available in book stores by March 2008 (ofcourse if all goes well, reckless road got delayed cause shit happens in life). Hes making a reprint on something that happened with the old band, and hes axls friend? Wouldnt Axl want to try and just focus on the new band, etc, as he is Dels friend, he must of had some say in this... after all Del is working for axl In Del's words: Quote "Maybe I can't always share or convey my feelings like other people but under the guise of a fictional story, I can vent or express myself or at least try. Thats what happened in 1986 with a short story called "Without You." Along with a pack of wonderful alcoholic degenerates, I was living in a place off Santa Monica Blvd known as "Hell House." I was 22 and bullet proof. During this time I witnessed something that inspired me to write a story about a musician who writes a love song only to be haunted be his own fame. His success becomes a curse that drives him toward suicide. I nervously gave this story to Axl hoping he'd get the message, the warning. He did and since he ever so kindly acknowledged me at the end of the "November Rain" video, that's essentially how I landed my book deal for The Language Of Fear." So, the story was written about Axl and his troubled past. Not about GN'R. Then it inspired the November Rain video, which was "guess who's" idea... I'll give you a hint, he wasn't playing lead or rythm guitar, bass guitar or drums at the time in GN'R... And no, it wasn't Teddy Zig Zag Andreadis or Dizzy Reed... ;D And as leatherebel has already said, Del is finishing up his first novel A Celebration Of Pain. Title: Re: The Language Of Fear REPRINTED by March 2008!!! Post by: Thorned Rose on January 22, 2008, 10:07:45 AM What exactly is in this book? i'm interested, never heard of it until now.

Well, at the time I made the request through a 3rd person and I don't have any idea if it ever reached Del. Even though I had a chance to ask Del himself, I never tried again... It's a story I love but given the fact that it's someone's hard work (and Del is a person I respect very much) and it will be on sale again very soon, I wouldn't want to give it to people for free. The only reason I wanted to do it, was cause the book had sold out a long time ago and GN'R fans should get a chance to read this story... Now they can!!! Post by: Negleyjj on January 23, 2008, 04:44:28 PM For anyone that is doubting this, I coincidently asked Del about this over the weekend (before this thread was started) and he told me had been hoping for a Christmas release, but that obviously hadn't happened. Hopefully by the end of January it will be available to order online for somewhere in the ten dollar range, and it will be in bookstores by late March. Contrary to what I had heard, he implied that he is still putting the finishing touches on Celebration of Pain (a novel, not a collection of short stories).
In any event, I'm looking forward to it, as I simply couldn't afford the 100-150 on Amazon. Cheers :peace: Title: Re: The Language Of Fear REPRINTED by March 2008!!! Quote Jacob, I hope all is well on your end. It's been pretty hectic on my end. My book "The Language Of Fear" which contains the short story "Without You" just got re-released after being out of print for years. You can order a copy of my book thru Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble.com or Borders.com or any major online retailer. Take care, Del I checked, and indeed it is. On Amazon they don't have it themselves (sold out), but the under the "new and used" list there are a handful of new ones available. The Boarders website kind of confused me to be honest, but I but it my zip code and 2 stores have it locally, so it's out there if you guys want it. I'll probably pick mine up tomorrow night. By Del James After being out of print for ten years, THE LANGUAGE OF FEAR, a short story collection by Del James is now available once again as a Dell paperback by print on demand. One of the top-ten most sought after horror/sci-fi titles, THE LANGUAGE OF FEAR featuring an introduction by W. Axl Rose, the book contains fifteen terrifying tales that run the gamut from a married man about to murder his wife on the command of a dial-a-porn hooker, to outlaw zombie bikers, to a stoned teenager locked in a savage war with his television set. THE LANGUAGE OF FEAR also features the short story ?Without You? which was the inspiration for the Guns N? Roses video ?November Rain.? About the Author: DEL JAMES is a meat-eating, pro-choice, sober, atheist. He writes horror fiction, screenplays, and music. As a lyricist, James has co-written songs with groups such as Testament, The Almighty, The Outpatients, and Gun N? Roses, including two songs on GNR?s Grammy-nominated Use Your Illusion album. James has directed several music videos and written live television for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is currently finishing his first novel, A Celebration of Pain. He likes to ignore his acquired wisdom and do things against his better judgment. When he?s not touring the world, James lives in Southern California. Visit him on the web at www.languageoffear.com THE LANGUAGE OF FEAR A Dell Mass Market Paperback ISBN: 978-0-440-21712-1 Price $7.99 -Available Now Wherever Books Are Sold- Praise for THE LANGUAGE OF FEAR: ?Del James has a personal knowledge of most of the situations he writes about, and has a love of the gutter from having been there.? ?W. Axl Rose ?Del James is fun. Of course, Hell is fun?if you?re one of the demons. That?s Del?s day job. After a hard day in Hell, he writes down what he saw. Good reading.? ?John Shirley, author of Living Shadows "Del James writes like a cross-fire hurricane. Full of primal force and awesome energy, his stories leap out from the page, grab you and won't let you go. It's a shame horror didn't wake up and get the message of THE LANGUAGE OF FEAR back in '95. There might be a genre left now if it had." ?Paula Guran, DarkEcho.com ?The Language Of Fear could best be described as an updated Night Shift, the contemporary tales being short and nasty.? ?Cindy Baum, SCREEM MAGAZINE ?If Herschel Gordon Lewis had turned up with Black Sabbath and Charles Bukowski, it would play like Del James. Post by: Regibold on March 04, 2008, 02:39:32 PM Up until a few years ago I'd never even known much about Del or his involvement with GNR let alone this book. Sounds like Stephen King meets James Patterson, and I like both Authors, so me thinks I'm gonna be picking this up.

Post by: Mr. Redman on March 09, 2008, 11:54:26 PM Am I the only one here who thinks Del should drop a couple interviews to help promote the book, more so then just Guns fans, and horror sci-fi fans - I feel like if he was to do an interview, it'd be all over the net on various sites, and might have more publicity.
JMO. Title: Re: The Language Of Fear REPRINTED by March 2008!!! Post by: willow on March 10, 2008, 09:15:13 AM I don't know it is the second pressing. I think maybe he should get it up there on other sites like dread central. You need to promote where your audience is. In the mean time just spread the word.

After being out of print for ten years, "The Language Of Fear", a short story collection by Del James is now available once again as a Dell paperback by print on demand. One of the top-ten most sought after horror/sci-fi titles, "The Language Of Fear", featuring an introduction by GUNS N' ROSES frontman W. Axl Rose, the book contains fifteen terrifying tales that run the gamut from a married man about to murder his wife on the command of a dial-a-porn hooker, to outlaw zombie bikers, to a stoned teenager locked in a savage war with his television set. "The Language Of Fear" also features the short story "Without You" which was the inspiration for the GUNS N' ROSES video "November Rain". About the author: Del James is a meat-eating, pro-choice, sober, atheist. He writes horror fiction, screenplays, and music. As a lyricist, James has co-written songs with groups such as TESTAMENT, THE ALMIGHTY, THE OUTPATIENTS and GUNS N' ROSES, including two songs on GNR's Grammy-nominated "Use Your Illusion" album. James has directed several music videos and written live television for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is currently finishing his first novel, "A Celebration of Pain". He likes to ignore his acquired wisdom and do things against his better judgment. When he's not touring the world, James lives in Southern California. Visit him on the web at www.languageoffear.com. It sounds like Del has a lot of projects on the go at the moment but I still hope that one day he'll get to write the authoritative Guns N' Roses biography - or maybe even the screenplay for Axl's first foray into acting. :D Title: Re: The Language Of Fear REPRINTED by March 2008!!!
