Title: CD sales and the US economy Post by: spaghetti_incident on January 16, 2008, 06:38:22 PM Just am watching the news and we (the USA) are entering into a recession period. Our dollar is weak, people are getting laid off left and right from their jobs, the mortgage industry is at it's worst ever.
Just wondering how will this impact CD sales? If people are unemployed, they won't have the extra $10, $15, or $20 that it will cost to buy a music cd. Personally, I'd budget for it but then again, I am financially well off. Would this even enter the minds of Universal if they were going to release CD this year knowing that if the economy is in a recession or entering into one that they'd risk not getting their return on their investment? Thoughts? Besides there are other countrys that love the hell out of G'n'R so i don't think that it would really have that big of an effect personally. :peace: Title: Re: CD sales and the US economy Post by: SLCPUNK on January 16, 2008, 09:28:51 PM Well according to some posters here, the economy is in great shape! :hihi:
Title: Re: CD sales and the US economy Post by: Chief on January 16, 2008, 09:37:13 PM i don't think they'd decide one way or another to release based on the economy but the state of the music industry may affect decisions... either way, it sucks!

I'd be more focused on the music industry as a whole rather than the economy. Some people are just WAY too into GNR. Imagine seeing this discussion on Jim Cramer's show or CNN Money  Title: Re: CD sales and the US economy Post by: SLCPUNK on January 16, 2008, 11:49:35 PM I think I'd be more focused on the economy as a whole than Chinese Democracy. Well that's a given, just not around these parts. :hihi: Myself, I'm very concerned... Title: Re: CD sales and the US economy Post by: Chief on January 17, 2008, 02:54:51 AM well yeah, i'm more concerned about the economy definitely.. all this waiting has me focused on other things for the time being...

Title: Re: CD sales and the US economy Post by: The Dog on January 18, 2008, 12:11:56 PM Phew with the new tax relief Bush Co. is working on we should all be able to afford Chinese Democracy!
THANK GOD!  Title: Re: CD sales and the US economy Post by: SLCPUNK on January 19, 2008, 12:35:36 AM Bush's America has come home to roost: An Enron state that sent jobs overseas and manufactured debt (which according to republicans is a "good" thing) instead. Looks like all the liquidity for the ponzi schemes is drying up, and down, down, down, down we go. Chumps. Title: Re: CD sales and the US economy Post by: The Dog on January 19, 2008, 01:14:42 AM Not to mention the TRILLIONS we spent on Iraq...
Title: Re: CD sales and the US economy Post by: SLCPUNK on January 19, 2008, 01:25:41 AM Not to mention the TRILLIONS we spent on Iraq... Trillions so far, and trillions later. Another similar day of the Dow's downward spin and the market average will be the same as when he first took office. Think about that. |
