Title: Computer Problem Post by: AxlsMainMan on January 13, 2008, 11:25:56 PM Occasionally my computer screen will become really grainy with static lines, and then a few minutes later, it's fine.
This is driving me absolutely insane. Is this probably just a loose wire, or could something be broken in the screen? The screen is less than a year old, so I'm hoping it's just a loose wire. Any ideas/suggestions? :peace: Thanks in advance. Title: Re: Computer Problem Post by: tim_m on January 14, 2008, 06:24:47 AM Could be a few things. It could be the monitor itself. It could be the cable. It might also be the display driver or maybe too high refresh rate. It could also be interference from something else nearby. Check all those things and you should be able to narrow it down.

I've tried pretty everything, so I guess all that's left to try is a new video card. My computer is almost 12 years old, so I guess it's maybe time for a new one.. ;) What's the price range on a new video card these days? $60-$100? Will any type of video card do, or is there one particular kind that's superior to the rest? Thanks in advance folks  Title: Re: Computer Problem Post by: tim_m on January 14, 2008, 07:36:54 PM Thanks for the advice everyone. Since your computer is so old don't replace it with anything great. I would instead save up and get a new one.
