Post by: norway on December 31, 2007, 01:08:23 PM Wouldn't that be privately owned companies doing infringements towards your freedom? :P Title: Re: now its illegal to rip CDs to your computer... Post by: von on December 31, 2007, 02:58:00 PM Once again, like I've been saying for more than eight years now, it's time to go back to vinyl.
"We're unhappy that technology has allowed you to rip off our cheaply made and manufactured, imperfect and outdated 80s product, but we'll continue to release music in that format in the hopes that you'll heed our warnings and stop." vinyl > CDs > mp3s > tapes Title: Re: now its illegal to rip CDs to your computer... I think you should be able to listen to it in anyway you wish, but i agree you shouldn't be able to do as you please with it. If he was just ripping it to his computer cause thats how he prefers to listen to it i think that should be ok. Unfortunately the law currently states otherwise. Anyway...fuck the music industry. Their resistance to change and pushing of crappy products makes them deserving of their pending downfall. Title: Re: now its illegal to rip CDs to your computer... They are scum. I'd be the first to toss them a bag of lead weights. This will never go anywhere, and they should be sanctioned heavily for wasting the Courts valuble time with this pathetic brief. Post by: Dr. Blutarsky on January 05, 2008, 10:11:25 AM The record companies want you to buy the same music twice. Once on CD then again on a digital download. It's greed - or a desperate attempt to save their slumping industry.

Title: Re: now its illegal to rip CDs to your computer... Post by: 1badapple on January 14, 2008, 12:10:37 AM It'll never hold up unless they can prove that he distributed songs online. Courts have previously ruled that we have the right to make a backup copy for personal use. They're taking things too far, and it will ultimately lead to their demise. It's all about these big-wigs being scared about losing their 2.3 million dollar yacht, personal airliners, etc....
Funny, back in the day they didn't say shit about people recording songs off the radio. Downloading isn't that much different. Notice the RIAA never says how much money they're pulling in from ringtones and all that other shit you can get for your phone. A full song on most legal download sites costs 1 dollar. A ringtone of the same song, and only about 15 seconds of the song will cost you 2.49 or more. I have a feeling they're not as bad off as they would like for us to believe. |
