I hear Johnny rotten asked if there was anyone under 40 at a pistols reunion show. jimmy page was there deafened and very impressed by the superb performances.

Hey everybody... check it out... there's this thing called an opinion. I, like everyone else, have one. I like Led Zep alot. I do not care what every bandwagon review says. I watched the same YouTube footage you all did and was not impressed in the least.

Sorry if that breaks your heart. Sorry if you think I'm wrong. It's my opinion of what I've seen and heard.

And again... I could care less what Axl was doing yesterday unless it had to do with CD.

With all due respect, youtube clips are hardly a good barometer for measuring how good/bad a performance is.

Actually, I think if you watch enough youtube clips they do represent a good barometer. I checked out scores of "Van Halen" ones to decide I wasn't going to lay down the money for that shit.

As far as Axl checking out Zep? I don't know. Think I might post a thread wondering aloud whether Axl read a book yesterday. Or drank a beer. Or listened to the radio. Does it make a difference?

I dunno. I don't think Axl is the type to try to steal any thunder by showing up. I think he knows since he has gained some mythical status over the past decade or so and his appearances are so few and far between a big deal is usually made whenever he goes anywhere.

I doubt Axl would steal any thunder from those guys  not on that night.

He probably was, everyone from Elvis' grandaughter to Mick Jagger to Pink and Oasis were there, wouldn't suprise me if he was.

It was an unnecessary opinion. You say you answered his question? How? By providing your opinion that Led Zep were overhyped? Jimmy played his ass off.  He is about 30 % of what he was back in his prime, but at this show he was a lot better than he had been.  I am happy for them.  Plant did a really fine job!   : ok:

Youtube videos are pretty bad quality when taken from a pretty average video camera/ from a pretty below average view point (nose bleed section)

Plants voice is still awsome, although he looked a little uncomfortable at first being on such a huge arena, but he quickly found his feet (judgin by the footage)

Personally, I think Axl would avoid a show like this at all costs knowing that many famous people will be there. It was more like a benefit for celebrities. I don't think Axl likes to hang with mainstream Hollywood. It"s more his style to just show up to something that wasn"t planned or kept very low key Plus, he is probably still dealing with insurance adjusters and landscaping crews from the fires. Not to mention worrying about mudslides if the land is not built back up fast enough.

I would have loved to see this show just because I was too young to go back in the day and they quit touring before I was old enough.

Led Zeppelin sucks. There, I said it, too. And last time I checked, we were all entitled to our own opinions. Stop tearing people down for sharing theirs. God bless Axl, I'd have gone to see a Queen concert with him any day, but I can't get on board Zeppelin with him.

Nope Axl wasn't there, he wasn't on the list of celebs at all. The show does not sound bad at all, I would've liked to see it anyway.

A  bit OT, but I don't there's nothing wrong with reunion gigs. Although I don't know just HOW painful it was and if they're ever gonna do it again.

Springsteen & co can pull it off. They have been touring and making albums again since 2000 (after a long break)! They're 60 something and they rock. 8)

they did it to pay their respects to the founder of their label who happened to be a good friend of the bands who passed away recently......they just happened to be the headliner............Axl may not have been interestyed, but 30 million other people were

I don't know what you mean by reunions like this but in their case, there weren't differences among them  they were unanimous in the disbandment and I think they've kept  friends with each other.

Once CD was roughly described as somewhere about modernized zep + a few others (pink floyd +NIN?)  by a RS writer that had a listen to it at an earlier stage.

Zep is awesome. I honestly don't know how you'd wind up on a GNR board if you didn't like Led Zepplin. Early on, they were compared a lot.
Listening to Zep, I realized that most of the stuff bands do to be different, to sound unique or whatever, is stuff Zepplin already did, only better.
