Lycos Announces the Most Popular Internet Search Terms of 2007

Everybody's counting and reporting these days. Lycos Inc. (www.lycos.com) announced its eighth annual list of top search terms for 2007.

The key rankings?

The Lycos top search terms for 2007 are: poker, MySpace, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and golf. It was the second year in a row poker drew the top spot.

The top five women: Spears, Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Anna Nicole Smith and Vanessa Hudgens of "High School Musical" and nude scandal fame.

Top five men: Clay Aiken, Tupac Shakur, Nelly, Akon and 50 Cent. Our man, Detroit rapper Eminem, was No. 8.

Top five bands: Green Day, Pussycat Dolls, Fall Out Boy, Nickelback and Guns N Roses with the grand old men of rock, the Rolling Stones, at No. 6.

Poker is one of the biggest things in the world currently.

I mean, fucking look at how many poker rooms there are now, and not to mention/shameless plug; The World Poker Store is...well, we're fucking booming right now. :D :D

I wonder how many of those top internet searches include the word "nude" with it.  I'm guessing:

Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Anna Nicole Smith, Vannessa Hudgens (who had even heard of her before news broke of some nude photos floating around).

Man that's sad when a band/act/forumlae/boardroom creation (I'm not really sure what to call them) like the Pussycat dolls gets in the top 5 hits for music. Or maybe it wasn't for their music ability either...

Though Green Day didn't even have an album out this year ? not counting their new rumored side project, Foxboro Hot Tubs ? the band topped Lycos' list of most-searched bands of 2007. The rest of the list included the Pussycat Dolls, Fall Out Boy, Nickelback, Guns N' Roses, the Rolling Stones, Evanescence, Black Eyed Peas, the All-American Rejects and the Fray.
