Title: Promoting

Is it me or does it seem that there is more promotion for Slash's autobiography than for VR's album?

seems to speak more about Guitar hero and GNR than his current band ......

Same impression I've gotten lately.

That interview from Las Vegas, he spent a lot of time talking about Guitar Hero III and his book, then quickly mentioned VR having finished the US tour and going abroad to play.

I understand that he's focusing on the latest things he's involved with (the game and his book), but it's interesting how he chose to do the book now.

On one hand, he gets more publicity for it now since he's in a somewhat successful band and GN'R/Axl have been active, but on the other hand it's taking focus away from his own band.

Jarmo, I dnt post much mainly read but I completly agree with you , whatever you are promoting and however new it is I find it very strange that he doesnt take the opportunity to promote his current band........especially with the poor sales ...should be a great opportunity for VR

Maybe he figures the ship has already sailed on trying to get Libertad off the ground.  He's on to the next thing.

Their management sucks - if that's who's in charge of promotion because they dropped the ball with this whole last album business.

Not uncommon-you've seen more of Nikki Sixx promoting his book than you did or will if he were to release another Motley album-also with a band on a show more than likely there will be a performance rather than an interview

Interesting comparison.

Nikki released his book while Motley wasn't really doing anything? Or were they, like VR, on tour? I'm not really keeping up with the Crue so I don't know if they released an album after the Greatest Hits one....

I still think if Motley released an album 6 months down the road-minus Tommy-it's not going to get as much pub. as Nikki's book-I like Velvet Revolver but the promotion of the album is over-as far as sales it is dead in the water-Slash is not going to go on Leno to promote a Velvet Revolver concert-the show would not book him-with talk shows also it is obviously pre-screened and the show is going to want Slash to talk about a book, not about an album that has been out for six months and is not even charting-it's common sense

Of course I understand that it's easier to sit down on a show to talk than to have the whole band to play. Especially if the music isn't the flavor of the month.

Do you think he would've gotten this much attention if it wasn't thanks to VR (and GN'R being back in people's minds)?

He goes on the talk shows and pretty much talks about his former band.

Yet he's going to play in Australia with his band to promote the record nobody wants to buy.

I guess it's just a bit weird seeing this guy promoting a video game and a book when I think of him as a guitar player.

Six months ago, this album was great, now he barely wants to mention it.

Nikki Six released an album to go along with the book, but I don't recall hearing about that before I saw it on Amazon when I ordered the book. I haven't been exposed to much Brides of Destruction publicity either.

I understand what Jarmo is saying, but he/the book company already know diehard fans will buy it-casual fans will still associate him with GNR, so I'm sure they would rather have him talk about that-he went on Howard Stern and they mostly wanted him to talk about GNR-do I agree with it? Probably not. Do I wish he would talk about VR, focus more of his energy in promoting VR? Of course, but I'm kind of a diehard fan, so you might be talking to the wrong person-like with GNR, I would rather have the band go forward with the new lineup, create new music-same with Slash and his band-but if I wanted to make money off his book, I would probably push him to talk about GNR
