The Beatles!  There were talks to reform in 1978 when Lennon and McCartney patched things up, but it never came to pass.

Stone Temple Pilots haven't gotten back together yet, with the Army of Anyone project pretty much over, all they need is Scott.

Skid Row and Bach, then again, Bach doesnt really need them.

The dire straits havent reunited ever since mark knopfler disbanded them in the mid nineties.

Yeah, we know that you dislike pretty much everything... :hihi:

Seriously, though - they might've been overrated to some, but they're still the biggest band ever, and they haven't reunited. (Which is what the topic is about)

A few that haven't been mentioned...

1. The Runaways
2. The original Fleetwood Mac (the pre Stevie Nicks) lineup.
3. The full, original lineup of Great White never reunited.? 4 of the 5 originals are back together, but original bassist Lorne Black never returned to the fold.

Also, I may be wrong, but I don't believe the original five members of the original Alice Cooper group ever reunited.? And they won't, since one died in 1997.

I believe they have played occasional shows-they havent gone on a full tour or anything.

The Beatles are obviously the biggest that I can think of, I'm surprised Soundgarden haven't even played at least one show-the original GNR would probably top what Springsteen and Van halen are doing right now, as far as sellouts

Didn't a member of Great White die in the tragic Rhode Island night club fire years ago?  Was he not an original member?

Didn't a member of Great White die in the tragic Rhode Island night club fire years ago?? Was he not an original member?

That was guitarist Ty Longley, who was not an original member.

Great White original members are as follows....

Jack Russell: vocals
Mark Kendall: lead guitar
Audie Desbrow: drums
Lorne Black: bass
Michael Lardie: keyboards, rhythm guitar

All five of those guys are still alive, and only Lorne Black is missing from their current lineup; he left the band after their second album in 1986 and never returned.

I just saw Great White over the summer, and it was a great show and thought it was great to see a band from that long ago that still has almost all the original members.

Correct.  The four original members of Kiss reunited in late 1995 and released a reunion album in 1998, Psycho Circus.  They continued to tour with the four originals until their final show on October 7, 2000 in South Carolina.  Peter Criss left the group at that point, while the other three originals continued until 2001.  Peter rejoined the band for their 2003 tour, but Ace Frehley was gone by that point.  Now it's down to just Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons again, with two replacements.

Fairly? :P

It would be the biggest reunion in the history of the world.

I wasn't aware that people (any people...anywhere) liked ABBA.

Then I looked on Wikipedia, and it said they've sold like 370 million records.   :o

Man.  When the people who bought those albums die, and their kids inherit them, imagine the size of the pile of garbage that could be created solely of thrown out ABBA albums.

So there you have it.  ABBA is the primary cause of landfill being used up too fast.  New Jersey should sue ABBA.

I don't think it's offensive at all, nor do I think the vast majority of those who post here would ever disrespect anything the Appetite / UYI lineup accomplished, or the tremendous musical legacy they left in their wake.

That said, HTGTH gives the majority of us a place to focus on the active GnR of here and now.   I'd say the majority around here who are thrilled with the modern-era Guns, and occasionally, it gets insanely frustrating wading through references to reunions, the old lineup, etc..    I'm not sure "stupid" is the word I'd use, but I know that there's enough to be happy about with the touring GnR of the past two years that I'm more than happy to leave the old lineup in the past, where they belong.   Here's to CD, whenever that glorious day arrives...   :peace:

Please don't take me for someone who's opposed to the current lineup, because I'm not.  I've gone to see them live, I listen to the songs, and I can't wait for CD.

I agree that the constant talk about the old lineup in threads having nothing to do with them can get tedious at times.   But to talk about a reunion in a thread about band reunions seems reasonable.  The quote didn't imply a preference for the old lineup(s) over the new, but simply stated a fact: the original (Appetite) lineup of Guns N' Roses has not reunited, and the same is true of the UYI era lineup.  You don't find this idea offensive, and neither do I, but anyone coaxed to insulting other users (as you said, is it really necessary to call him/her "stupid"?) seems to find it thus.  And, considering that the quote is nearly a month old, and isn't even a part of the ongoing discussion, it seems that it was sought out for the purpose of making a point.

Anyway, I don't usually comment on these spats, but when the same users, again and again, insult others because they happen to disagree with something they say then it gets just as obnoxious as those who inject the "old band v. new band" junk into every thread in the first place.

? ?

Thanks for the well-written and reasonable response...kind of refreshing around here from time to time! ? :hihi: ?I agree with all that you said, and - like yourself, I try to avoid participating in any of these non-stop spats that pop up over the same old things. ?But, playing Devil's advocate, the original post only said "Guns n Roses," and it's not unreasonable for that to be interpreted as yet another poster pretending the current band doesn't exist, and worse yet, trying to take a shot at all the current band has accomplished. ?Had the original poster said it as clearly as you did - that the original (Appetite) lineup has not reunited - I imagine it would have been far less likely to have come off as abrasive to anyone. ?

So, back to reunions, then... ?

Thanks for the well-written and reasonable response...kind of refreshing around here from time to time!   :hihi:  I agree with all that you said, and - like yourself, I try to avoid participating in any of these non-stop spats that pop up over the same old things.  But, playing Devil's advocate, the original post only said "Guns n Roses," and it's not unreasonable for that to be interpreted as yet another poster pretending the current band doesn't exist, and worse yet, trying to take a shot at all the current band has accomplished.  Had the original poster said it as clearly as you did - that the original (Appetite) lineup has not reunited - I imagine it would have been far less likely to have come off as abrasive to anyone.

So, back to reunions, then...

Fair enough.

Of course, we've gotten to the point that ALL GNR fans reach.  We're nitpicking over the exact wording of a statement, looking for clues about the author's intent, mindset at the time, and, if possible, what he/she had for lunch the day it was written.

CCR was a great one I never thought about....NWA couldnt because Eazy E is dead

Hey, that's not stopping Alice in Chains, is it?

No but I think were talking about a true reunion of original members...or at least the core...
