Title: Breakdown Post by: Irish gunner II on October 28, 2007, 04:45:02 PM Right I've listened to this song literally hundreds of times in my time as a GNR fan and I just listened to it there again and I was amazed how really really good a song this is. I mean I knew it was a good song, but having not listened to it in a long time I seemed to see the song in a clear light, as if like the first time I listened to it.
Some of the lyrics are superb, but even though i knew the words of the song by heart, it appears I didn't KNOW them if ye get what I'm trying to say. Title: Re: Breakdown Post by: Lisa on October 28, 2007, 05:34:26 PM That happens to me almost everytime I hear it...I forget what a truely amazing song it really is.
Title: Re: Breakdown Post by: estebanf on October 28, 2007, 07:20:03 PM Breakdown is, believe it or not, included in my all time top 5 GNR songs. Definitely a masterpiece.
Title: Re: Breakdown Post by: isa on October 28, 2007, 07:30:10 PM Amazing song! : ok:
Title: Re: Breakdown Post by: Irish gunner II on October 28, 2007, 11:06:09 PM We all come in from the cold
We come down from the wire An everybody warms themselves to a different fire When sometimes we get burned You'd think sometime we'd learn The one you love is the one That should take you higher You ain't got no one You better go back out and find her Just like children hidin' in a closet Can't tell what's goin' on outside Sometimes we're so far off the beaten track We'll get taken for a ride By a parlor trick or some words of wit A hidden hand up a sleeve To think the one you love Could hurt you now Is a little hard to believe But everybody darlin' sometimes Bites the hand that feeds When I look around Everybody always brings me down Well is it them or me Well I just can't see But there ain't no peace to found But if someone really cared Well they'd take the time to spare A moment to try and understand Another one's despair Remember in this game we call life That no one said it's fair Breakdown Let me hear it now Breakdown Let me hear it now Yeah Breakdown Let me hear it now Breakdown Let me hear it now Get down with yo' bad self Alright I've come to know the cold I think of it as home When there ain't enough of me To go around I'd rather be left alone But if I call you out of habit I'm out of love and I gotta have it Would you give it to me If I fit you needs Like when we both knew we had it But now the damage's done And we're back out on the run Fun how everything was Roses When we held on to the Guns Just because you're winnin' Don't mean you're the lucky ones Breakdown Let me hear it now Breakdown Yeah Breakdown Breakdown Let me hear it now "There goes the challenger being chased By the blue blue meanies on wheels The vicious traffic squad cars are After our lone driver The last American hero The-the electric sintar The demi-god, The super driver of the golden west! Two nasty Nazi cars are close behind The beautiful lone driver The police cars are getting closer-closer... Closer to our soul hero in his soul mobile- Yeah baby! They about to strike, They gonna get him, SMASH! RAPE! The last beautiful free soul on this planet But...it is writen if the Evil Spirit Arms the Tiger with claws Brahman provided wings for the Dove Thus spake the Super Guru" * "Did you hear that" Great lyrics I think youll agree. It's a lot different from most songs - definitely one of my favorites of all time.
The lyrics are really inspiring. It's a great song to refer back to when you're feeling defeated by love or life in general. It reminds you of the emotional strength you're capable of. Title: Re: Breakdown Post by: Mr. Dick Purple on November 08, 2007, 10:35:48 PM Irish Gunner II those are my favorites quotes of the song. And look my top 5 songs I like of GNR

Title: Re: Breakdown Post by: faldor on November 08, 2007, 11:32:50 PM Fantastic song. #2 on my list behind "Rocket Queen". It seems like it's a cult favorite of GNR fans, but I highly doubt anyone outside the circle would even recognize the song. Too bad it didn't get more exposure.
Title: Re: Breakdown Post by: CryGirl on November 15, 2007, 08:39:37 PM One of my fav lyrics of all time. Always in my mp3. :D

My only complaint is that the spoken word stuff at the end covers up some killer guitar work. But it's still a stellar song.

My only complaint is that the spoken word stuff at the end covers up some killer guitar work.? But it's still a stellar song.? I like the instrumental version - you get to hear the guitar work at the end nice and cleanly! Title: Re: Breakdown Post by: Olorin on December 20, 2007, 11:23:44 AM I'm loving this song at the moment, its telling me everything I'm feeling but just cant express.
Dont like that speech at the end though, it robs the song of a more fitting end. Title: Re: Breakdown Post by: isa on December 20, 2007, 07:34:47 PM Is dedicated this song to somebody? ???

Even though AFD will get all the credit, I think UYI 2 is GNR's best CD.
I mean Civil War, Breakdown, Locomotive, and Estranged. Wow. Title: Re: Breakdown Post by: teamaxl on January 17, 2008, 09:25:53 PM I used to like this song a lot as a kid. I cranked it up the other day for the first time in quite awhile and was pretty blown away. And I hear ya mrbucketfoot. If I had to pick just one GNR album I think I'd still go with AFD as I did in the poll thread. It's just such a classic at this point. It can't be denied. UYI2 has always been a personal favorite of mine though. Sure, there's some damn good tunes on UYI1 but UYI2 features a handful of fuckin' masterpieces! :)
