Title: Question About Fixing Rust/Chips on Vehicles Post by: Malcolm on August 31, 2007, 12:46:40 PM K well I just recently got my moms van from her, 2000 Chevy Venture and we want to fixup the rust spots underneath the doors that were started from rock chips...Now my Grandpa told me not to sand it because within a year it will be rusted twice as bad...So I took a picture of it and was hoping someone on here could give me a few hints or tell me what to do...Thanks in advance

It looks like it hasn't gone through, if so, grind to metal and fill with glazing.

I'd browse through some car forums and look for the body work section(s.) They can be very informative and helpful. Then use some body filler.

How long do you want it to last anyway? Change the oil, hot and often, keep a good eye on the fluids and so on.
