Title: The Garden of Unearthly Delights Post by: stolat on August 20, 2007, 09:52:58 AM In the 'George Carlin' thread I've made reference to the Adelaide Fringe Festival. It is a yearly event where 'fringe' artists/comedians from all over the world can try out their acts. Adelaide is surrounded by beautiful parklands and one park is transformed into "The Garden of Unearthly Delights".
Imagine a balmy summer night, fairy lights in the trees, the smell of roasting corn, you are sitting atop the ferris wheel laughing at the punters trying to swing on a trapeze, you can hear a band coming from somewhere in the garden..... There are different sized tents about the place, each promoting bizzare and wonderful acts. About 50 of us were crammed into a small tent to see an amazing 10 year old from Russia perform mind tricks. I was picked from the audience to take part. I was asked to hold out my hand palm up and hold out my index and middle fingers. A stick of wood was placed horizonatlly along these two fingers. I was told to stay as still as possible. The ten yr old started to concentrate on the stick. Gradually, I could feel a slight buzzing coming from the stick and in about 3-4 minutes, the stick upended and fell onto the ground! I did not do a thing to aid this! She then did two other tricks: 1) She held her hand over a tray of wood shavings that eventually flew all over the place. 2) Her father held up an unlit light globe (that had been switched on briefly). She concentrated on the globe which eventually burst. Amazing or not? Looks like my innocent thread about an arts festival and mind magic trick is turning blue! Genesis!........ :P Seriously, the 10 year old was able to use her mind powers to make the 'water' in the stick move. It's all to do with transferring energy.
