"Mac" McKAGAN b. March 20, 1924. Dad served with the Army Air Corps in Wash. D.C. during WWII as a radioman. He entered the Seattle Fire Department after his wartime service and retired as a lieutenant after 26 years. These were years that he often reflected back upon with much gusto and color. Married Marie Harrington in 1943 and their union created 8 children over the following 20 years. He lived the second half of his life very happily married to Mel (Bloom) McKagan. "Mac" worked for Group Health as a transportation supervisor after his retirement from the Fire Dept. and enjoyed 12 yrs. of dutiful service. Dad was a lover of nature, music, animals, and people. He is survived by his 8 children, Jon, Carol Charles, Mark, Bruce, Claudia Christianson, Joan Baker, Matt, and Duff, Mel's daughter,Laurie Thomas, and 2 brothers, Barton and Gene. Dad also left 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His last words were, " I'm goin' home ". Published in print on 7/12/2007. So it must have happened a few weeks ago. RIP.
