Title: Slash Returns Stolen Guitar
Post by: Eazy E on July 23, 2007, 11:31:53 AM
Officials at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas got quite the surprise during a recent ceremony honoring Velvet Revolver (and former Guns ?N Roses) guitarist Slash. At the event on July 14, Slash presented the Hard Rock with a guitar he had taken from its Florida cafe years ago explaining, ?I stole that from the Hard Rock in Orlando. It was in the dressing room. I didn?t know what it was doing there, so I took it. . . So I?ve had it all these years and been playing it.? What prompted him to finally ?fess up? ?I thought what better way to honor the Hard Rock for honoring me than to give it back, sort of,? Slash said. Coming clean didn?t affect why he was being honored in the first place - the permanent memorabilia case of all things Slash still stands at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas.

Looks like he is really working on his sobriety.

Step 8: Made a list of all persons we had wronged, and became willing to make amends to them all.

I'm not here to cause rumblings, but how does that fit into this subject?

"The Most Dangerous Band In The World" is probably the most washed-out line in Rock history, so why even take it seriously?

Hell, even I'm more dangerous than any rockstar! On topic: Funny story.

If only he was as pure as Saint Axl then mabye he could escape your sanctimonious spiteful comments. We know you fully support the latest line up in Guns N' Roses, we understand, really. Why dont you just disable this section if past members are so beneath you.

Was your bike ever stolen?

Would you have sympathy for the guy who stole it and would ask for your help in finding his own stolen goods?

I dunno, to me there's a difference between a guitar being left in his dressing room and someone forcefully breaking into his house to steal stuff.

What the hell has this got to do with Axl?!
Answer: nothing - so why do some people insist on trying to reflect Slash's negative traits back onto Axl.? ?>:(

Would Slash have returned the guitar in other circumstances - who knows?? In my opinion, this is just another example of Slash knowing a media opportunity when it presents itself and making the most of it.? So in that case, it would appear that job done!

I'm sorry but I clicked on the link you provided and the webpages refer to the one same article. I have clicked on the top ten links provided from your search and none of them specifically mention Axl and shoplifiting in any credible way, shape or form. They are all the same article.

All these links provide are snippets of disjointed information and stuff posted on forums.

When will people learn that you cannot believe everything posted on the net! And that claims must be backed up with credible sources.

Just because Slash, a grown up rock star with plenty of money to buy a guitar steals a guitar, you have to try to make it about Axl.

Just admit it already. What Slash did was very stupid.

Somebody who's had his own gear stolen goes out to steal a guitar. That's just stupid.

To me, that says something about the person.

Just like it does when a millionaire doesn't tip the waiter.

MOVE TO THE CITY: 1984-1986

Born on February 6, 1962, in Lafayette, Indiana, W. Axl Rose is raised as Bill Bailey, the oldest of three children in a strict Pentacostal family that forbids him to listen to rock music. At 17, Rose discovers that his stepdad, L. Stephen Bailey, isn't his biological father; William Rose, his real father, had walked out on the family when Axl was two. A former choirboy, Rose begins to get into trouble with the law as a teenager, mostly for public intoxication. In 1980, Rose-who, Lafayette legend has it, took his adopted first name from the wheel axl of his skateboard-hitchhikes to Los Angeles and hooks up with Lafayette buddy Izzy Stradlin (n? Jeff Isabelle).

JIM PASDACH: Axl couldn't get a job at the mall stores because they had all caught him shoplifting-I always had to watch him when he came in. The last memory I have of him is when he came into the store and told me he was going out to L.A. to become a rock star. I was, like, "Yeah, right."

I was just wondering if Jarmo held everybody so harshly for stealing. Axl included.

And I am def not a Slashite. Lol. I love Axl, and if I had to choose between Axl and Slash I would definitely choose Axl. However when it comes to who I'm going to "defend" I'm an equalite. I would defend anybody against what I feel is an unwarrented attack. I don't understand why someone needs to chime in when someone does something bad. Everyone does something bad. I don't understand why Jarmo, or anyone else needed to add a sarcastic, degrading comment towards Slash. We've all done things in our life we aren't proud of.. or don't realize had negative effects.

We don't know Slash, we've never met the guy, and I'm certainly not going to pretend I do and have some vendetta against him. Everyone has done bad things in their life.

And for the record, I'm not attacking Jarmo, or anybody. Seriously, I'm asking questions and trying to make a point. You guys are bashing a guy you don't even know for something he did years ago, that hurt no one, and that he attempted to right. Sounds like you're mad at Slash about something else to me. And if you are, that's cool. But why make it seem like you really care about some event that doesn't effect you at all?

Jim Bob, can you not see the connection? This is a GnR board, therefore most people here if not all are Axl fans. ?When someone attacks the person they are a fan of, its only natural to bring up the person the other guy idolizes for comparison sake. If someone starts attacking someone you are a fan of, the first question that arises is "Oh yeah? well who are you a fan of that is so great?", well guess what? they already have that information, so they use it to put things into perspective that not everyone is perfect. ?It is you who appears ridiculous for being shocked and even so humorously riled up about it.

Jack, iPod.  :hihi:

On topic though, I can't believe someone as wealthy as Slash would steal a guitar.  He has like 3 million guitars at home.

Kinda glad that he returned it though.  Maybe his conscience kicked in.

Or he is using this as an opportunity to strum up some publicity for his new album.

I can understand if you shoplift when you're like 13 years old and your friends pressure you to do it.
