I think it's such an amazing touching song that should get spread around.. Who really even knows it exists?/ Just embed it in a bulletin and say repost, I truly love this song..

Not picking on you mikeg, but am I the only one who thinks people are going a little overboard with Messages? It's cool, and a good song... but it's just a song I would EXPECT from the band. It shouldn't be that hard for VR to make an album with a song like Messages being an average track...

I guess, but I do like other songs as much as messages, but I am also not trying to sell the album.. I just wanted people to hear a good song with special video along with it.. I like songs like ygnr, slither dlt,let it roll, as much as an example, it's just this one touches me a bit.. I guess it's the video along with the words and remembering that day...

tbh i think the fan made videos are a lil much.    i really don't care to be reminded of that horrible day.

its a good song but its not what some make it out to be.

i agree.. before i thought it was a great great song.. but now i think it's because it was so hyped.. first when we heard a tiny bit on the vlog.. then we found out it wasn't on libertad and people were a bit dissapointed, then we got it and we all overrated it :hihi: yeah it's among slash's best since UYI's but the lyrics are pretty much just ok.. i still like the song very much but it's not as great as i thought at first.

Its a fantastic song but the fan made video is horrible. I dont see the point in all the different angles of the plane hitting the towers... its far too much. (and no, im not an over exagerating american) It just lacks power.

The video didnt even need to have footage like that... the song isnt obviously about 9/11, even if thats what its about. Thats the good thing about it is that its not ramming the events of 9/11 down people throats. You could listen to the song and hear that its a sad song and figure out that its about a plane crashing, but nothing specific to that day.

Thats why I like the song so much, because its an effective and moving song wether or not you know what its about.

I agree.  It's a good track.  It may even be their best track.  But they fail to live up to expectations so consistently that, when they do record a strong song, we hail it as the second coming of John Lennon.   ::)

I think people are happy to hear Slash make his guitar cry again  ;D

Truly though, Messages is a good song but after repeat listens I don't even think it's the best Velvet Revolver song.  I still think Loving The Alien is better and YGNR at least as good if not better, the may not be as dramatic musically but they're just as good if you understand me

Because I think that the lyrics in those songs are much better and more personal.  Messages evokes emotion musically, but lyrically it depends on the "concept" of 9/11 to evoke emotions rather than the lyrics themselves take the easiest route possible and don't offer up any real insight or depth.  But that's just me

Yea Messages is cool because of Slash's tone and playing, its reminiscent of his UYI days and he doesn't do that much lately.. so any GnR fan is going to like hearing that.

but beyond that, its pretty average.  Even corny and cheezy in some areas especially in the second verse and the last half of the chorus.   I like You Got No Right better and my fav track out of Libertad is Let It Roll.

the whole hype around this song, is that it isnt on the album, cause VR were retarded.
