Title: The films you've walked out of thread
Post by: Izzy on July 09, 2007, 05:52:45 PM
Greetings friends

Having just endured Die Hard 4 and priding myself on once again never actually having walked out of a film despite sooo much provocation... (Clive Owens' King Arthur and Hott Fuzz had me almost transfixed by the green glow of the emergency exit signs)...i thought i'd start a thread for all those folks that have saved themselves from some silver screen sinning by walking out

Was it Episode 1esque storyline that had you running, or perhaps a Brett Ratner fueled assualt, maybe an Adam Sandler ''comedy'' or a George Clooney ''indy'' film - what films did you escape from and why......

I've never walked out of a movie. For $10, I'll be there 'til after the credits, whether it's agonizing or not :hihi:

Back in high school, me and my buddies walked out of Point Break.

Also, if I had seen The Apostle or Master and Commander in a theater, I'd have been to the door in less than 45 minutes.  : ok:

To be fair, maybe we didn't give Point Break enough time, we were idiot kids.  The Apostle on the other hand?  Holy hell I couldn't stand it.  I still can't believe it was critically acclaimed.   :hihi:

i can remember walking out on two movies.

1. thin red line. boring as hell. and long. i didn't know it was a 3-hour movie going in, and can remember thinking "i've made it 2 hours, it has to be over soon." i lasted another 20 minutes and had to bolt.

2. the english patient. elaine on seinfeld captured my feelings perfectly.

Coming to America - my Dad was/( is still but not as over-zealous) a big born again Christian and the "penis cleaning" scene offended him.  As a 13 year old I thought it was funny as hell!

when i was like 5 years old the movie "The Land Before Time" made me sad and i started crying in the theatre-- so i left with my mom.

i've never walked out on a movie,  but felt like it with these ones (off the top of my head.. more will come later)

The Aristrocrats - LAME,  all the critics talked about how good it was,  they would'nt let anyone finish the joke from start to finish-  to edit crazy
GrindHouse - DeathProof is so damn boring when kurt russel is'nt killing someone,
Date Movie - nuff said

Never walked out of one and never will. My policy is - you're paying for it anyway, might as well see the whole damn thing. I was really tempted during 'The Hulk' and 'HellBoy' though. Two utter pieces of crap.

Yep, I have to see a film to the end no matter how bad it is. Who knows, it could improve......

Jacob's Ladder, about 30-45 minutes in.   I ended up watching it again on DVD about 10 years later and regretted walking out, it's a good fucking movie.   I also learned after the fact that the director used some shooting techniques designed to subliminally create a sense of fear and panic in the viewer.  That might be why I walked out.

When I was like 9 or 10 years old ... "I was a teenage werewolf" with Michael Landon? ?:hihi:

It was part of a triple horror feature and if you were able to sit through all three flicks then you won a prize.? I don't recall what the prize was or what the other two flicks were but the first two were so not scary that I convinced myself in my own mind that the third was gonna be the most scariest movie ever made in the history of scary movies ..... so right after the opening credits I booked!!!?

I don't know if it's based on the length of the movie but I think there's some kinda law nowadays that if you walk out within the first 45 minutes, you can get your money back.

Hellboy's an enjoyable fantasy/b-movie, anyone who didn't know what to expect from a Guillermo del Toro movie by the time that one came out deserved whatever disappointment their 'Splosion-addled expectations dictated.

I've never yet walked out of a movie (though I took a long cigarette break about 45 minutes into TROY.) But I don't go running out to the cinema every weekend. I'll usually only pay the ridiculous prices and endure the ignorant patrons if I know that the movie, by virtue of its pedigree, will be something I'll enjoy or find interesting.

My mother and I walked out of Gus van Sant's shot-for-shot remake of Psycho.  Half the theater got up and left, as there were only 4 of us in there.

I fell asleep during Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls when I was younger.  I woke up and the credits were rolling away.  I literally fell asleep five minutes into the movie.  Years later I would see this again...and the hour of sleep I got that night was far greater than sitting through that movie awake.

I can't remember  the last  movie  I walked  out on, but then again, I don't even remember the last  film I saw in a  theater, so what  do I know? (Rhetorical  question, no need to reply, just in case).

Never walked out of a movie in a theater.  I have a pretty good sense for what I will like and what I won't, and avoid seeing those that I probably won't enjoy.  Rarely I'll end up seeing a movie I thought would be good that turns out to be a piece of shit, but I've always stayed to the end

More and more I just wait for stuff to come out on DVD or even cable  :-X  especially if it is trashed by critics and the public...
like the DaVinci Code...   I know a lot of people hate when someone complains about the book being better blah blah blah... but I got this home on DVD and couldn't sit through it at home even!

House of the Dead was the absolute worst movie I've ever seen next to Date Movie.  I was at my friend's house and he was stoked to rent it because he was a huge fan of the video game.  I literally wanted to kill myself after about 15 minutes of the movie not going anywhere.  I couldn't even fall asleep on it because it pissed me off greatly from being so bad.  I wanted to punch my friend in the face in response to making me sit and watch that thing, but I refrained.

Date Movie was another story.  I went to the theater with a friend I hadn't seen in a while.  That fucking movie was brutal.  It made me think that some moron somewhere probably spent a budget of about $20-30 million or more on this crapfest.  Imagine how many homeless people that could have fed.  Two worst films EVER!
