With all respect to GNR, which company would want to pony up the cash with such content, let alone the chances of a show getting cancelled. Sponsorship would only go to more 'safer' type bands and tours. Or Hip-Hop. Metal is DEAD on Madison Avenue.
Especially in this day in age, corporations will want to do a commercial campaign tie-in, thus some quid pro quo from the artist(s). Like when you see Sheryl Crow in a hair color product campaign, or Fall Out Boy for a car company, T.I. for a car company, Stones for a financial company. There's appearances in the commercials and use of their music. If gnr were to have corporate sponsorship you would see lets just say for the sake of argument, walmart all over their tour ads. or axl wearing a walmart shirt...etc.. you get the hint.
