Title: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: greendog on June 30, 2007, 12:18:32 PM Thought Id make a thread about the bonus tracks, b-sides etc etc.
From the bonus tracks I've heard (Messages and $ Laugh) Im kinda glad they didnt make the album. The reason is because they are so fucking cool. I love the Libertad album, its great. All the songs flow nice and its just a great listen with nice production, nice melodies, riffs, solos and beats. Basically, its solid. However, had tracks like Messages and $ Laugh been included, they would have made other songs feel like filler. Basically what im saying is Libertad is fucking great but the bonus tracks are even better. It would be cool to have an album with songs of this seemingly higher quality material. Especially since Slash is in full swing on Messages. So yeah... umm... discuss. Bonus Tracks: Messages Gas and A Dollar Laugh Don't Drop That Dime (hidden album track) Psycho Killer (Talking Heads cover, can be found on the EP) *Don't do PM requests for links. Its annoying, use your head.* Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: mrlee on June 30, 2007, 12:40:34 PM the b-sides were better they should have made the album n the shit songs off libertad made into b-sides
Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: greendog on June 30, 2007, 12:44:51 PM Yeah.
I think that B-sides / bonus tracks should be great songs that are cool extras that arent really needed on an album. Not songs that are better than whats already on an album. Although im more than happy to have libertad as an album :) I just hope this is a glimps of whats to come in the future. :) Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Who puts there best song as a b-side. Maybe the fan response will cause a reprint Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: BillBailey on June 30, 2007, 02:04:54 PM "Gas & A Dollar Laugh" is really growing on me.? Ya I just heard it. Its a good track Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: greendog on June 30, 2007, 02:05:11 PM Maybe the fan response will cause a reprint hehe, I seriously doubt that would happen ?;Datleast it shows the potential within the band for different styles to come in the future. :) i cant wait for the next album. but il let the guys tour and rest for a little bit ?: ok: as much as the wait is gonna be so hard. Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: Jackamo! on June 30, 2007, 02:36:11 PM Spay & For A Brother should have been the B sides.
These belong on the album. Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: Jizzo on June 30, 2007, 03:12:55 PM i havent been able to find $ laugh

messages is awesome. great leads deep lyrics love it Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: Top-Hatted One on June 30, 2007, 04:50:12 PM how did you hear
meassages? other than in the vlog? Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: Wheres Izzy on June 30, 2007, 06:23:10 PM Been listening to messages since last night and I have listened to gas and a dollar laugh a few times. I think libertad is a great album. If those two songs replaced For a Brother and SBQM it would be a classic. I think those two songs (especially messages) would have made this their benchmark. What they would be aiming to do as well as or out-do on all future records.
Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: D on June 30, 2007, 09:54:24 PM I am seriously pissed off.
The fact that the world won't hear "messages' This song is unbelievable. Scott's vocals are the greatest I've heard from him ever and Slash's guitar finally has the GNR flavor. DAMN I dont know whether to love them or hate them now. Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: Jim Bob on June 30, 2007, 09:58:36 PM I am seriously pissed off. Its a shame he doesn't show us that guy more often and I have no idea why they didn't put the song on the album. Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: D on June 30, 2007, 10:00:57 PM HOLY FUCK
Even jim Bob likes this song? U know the shit is great if Jim Bob Likes it. :hihi: : ok: Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: Jim Bob on June 30, 2007, 10:04:56 PM But see this is why everyone thinks I rag on VR. Its beacuse I know they have the talent to put out some amazing stuff, but both Libertad and Contraband fall short of those expectations. This is the kind of song I expected from the Slash/Scott Weiland pairing when I first heard about Scott joining VR.
Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: 1badapple on July 01, 2007, 01:08:43 AM Wait about 6-12 months and they'll re-issue Libertad with "Messages", "Gas & A Dollar Laugh", and maybe 1 or 2 more "unreleased" songs in an effort to sell even more copies. It kinda pisses me off when bands do that.
I keep in regular contact with a local radio station program director, and i'm going to do the best i can to convince him to put "Messages" on the air- atleast 1 time. Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: Ali on July 01, 2007, 01:38:41 AM I don't think the issue with "Messages" making the album has to do with quality so much as it has to do with having too many ballads on the album. I think it would be a mistake to take off a rocker and replace it with this song.

Every band re-releases their CDs 6 months down the line anymore. It kind of sucks, to be honest. "Dollar Laugh" is the Japanese bonus track - I might just import it instead of buying the domestic version. Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: greendog on July 01, 2007, 01:52:31 PM Please dont ask for links to the songs in this discussion... its annoying trying to discuss something followed by a million people obviously hinting for a link. just PM someone about it who appears online who has clearly heard the track. If they can help you out, they will.

Or they could've done away with Can't Get It Out Of My Head. No reason to include a decent cover song over one of your originals that's much better Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: DemocracyRose on July 01, 2007, 02:54:08 PM Why doesnt VR do more of this?? (Messages)
With this song on Libertad, it would be a better album... Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: BurningHills on July 01, 2007, 05:33:19 PM Just ordered the Japanese version with Gas And A Dollar Laugh on it! : ok:
Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: acompleteunknown on July 05, 2007, 12:42:08 PM Don't Drop that Dime isn't a B-side since it's on the album.
Is this the official VR B-Side tally at the moment? I can't believe they're only a couple of B-Sides short of a full album of material! 1. Message (LT itunes Bonus track) 2. Psycho Killer (LT iTunes Bonus Track) 3. Gas And A $ Laugh (Japanese Bonus Track) 4. Come On Come In (Fantastic Four soundtrack) 5. Negative Creep (Slither CD single) 6. Bodies - live (Slither CD single) 7. Surrender (Fall To Pieces single) 8. No More, No More (CB Special Edition) 9. Money (The Italian Job) Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. I classed it as a B-side because its a hidden track... its not listen on the track listing. So its kinda a like a b-side... but anyway... with it been a bonus extra track it still fits within my bonus / b-side list. so......... :) Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: oldredcow on July 06, 2007, 10:05:07 PM i bought messages off itunes and its beautiful...but WHERE did you guys get Gas and a Dollar Laugh???
im not asking for a link i just want to know where i can find it without buying the japanese version because i already bought the regular. please? Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: faldor on July 07, 2007, 12:16:44 AM Availability :
This title will be released on July 10, 2007. You may order it now and we will ship it to you when it arrives. Limited Edition International two disc (CD + NTSC/Region 0 DVD) pressing of the 2007 sophomore album from Velvet Revolver contains two bonus tracks ('Don't Drop That Dime' and 'Re-Evolution') plus a bonus DVD featuring a documentary on the making of the album. Produced by Brendan O'Brien, Libertad is the follow-up to Contraband, VR's debut album, released in June 2004, which earned three million in sales worldwide, debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #1 and was awarded a Grammy. 15 tracks including the first single 'She Builds Quick Machines'. Looks like Libertad + one extra track (Re-Evolution), along with DDTD of course, and a DVD. Is it the same DVD BestBuy offers with the disc for $14.99? If so, Target's pretty much charging $5 more for one song? Can anyone make sense of this? Anyone heard of Re-Evolution? Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: acompleteunknown on July 07, 2007, 12:26:17 AM I think "Re-Evolution" is a the enhanced CD content. The $15 version comes with a DVD.
Title: Re: The Bonus / B-Sides discussion thread. Post by: D on July 07, 2007, 02:40:25 AM I let a friend hear "Messages" tonight
He doesnt even know who Velvet Revolver are and I caught him singing that song all night long as he absolutely loved it. I didnt have the heart to tell him that the band didnt put the song on the record. This is where VR are idiots A song like YGNR makes new fans Messages united GNR and VR fans for a brief moment and it would've earned them tons of new respect and fans but they fucked it up and didnt put it on there cause their "PRODUCER" who isnt even in the fuckin band wanted a stupid ass cover song. I've seen the Fantastic Four soundtrack for like $3 at a couple of used CD stores. You can buy the bonus CD from Contraband (with the Nirvana, Aerosmith, and Cheap Trick Cover) on ebay for like $4. http://cgi.ebay.com/Velvet-Revolver-BONUS-CD-Nirvana-Aerosmith-Cheap-Trick_W0QQitemZ320133598286QQihZ011QQcategoryZ307QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I don't have the other two myself...but at least that a start. Anyone confirm that you can buy it off there?
