Title: axl was on a steve jones solo album?
Post by: mrlee on June 23, 2007, 06:53:07 AM
steve jones re-works "did you no wrong" forgive me if im wrong but it sounds a hell of alot like axls singing also o nthis song, even the way the ending has a "ohhhh yeahh" sounds just like the way axl does the ending of you could be mine.

i think its off the fire and gasoline album.

I saw Neurotic Outsiders in a small far from sold out club in NYC. Duff played rhythm guitar and was talking to girls in the front row for most of the show. Steve jones made a comment about Duff's other band and an album they were working on. He was hard to understand, english accent, acoustics etc..

Sex Pistols were a huge influence on GNR, mostly Duff I think

Yeah, Axl's vocals on "Did you no wrong" sound great. I can't remember which Steve Jones album it was though. Either "Fire and Gasoline" or "Mercy"? Sex Pistols forever..

Wrong to the nth degree, I can just imagine the look on Jonesy's face when they rolled out the piano.

There is a Black Label Society song on the Mafia album that I would bet the house that it was Axl talking.? Maybe he did it as a favor for Zakk when they were getting along.? Oh well.

Zakk Wylde's band, Black Label Society's album titled Mafia, has a track on it I am convinced has Axl doing his Coma voice on it.  Is anyone familiar with BLS?  Or more specifically the Mafia album?

All I could find was this little nugget... Cheap John, listen to validate my claim.

In the winter of 1999/2000, Zakk and Philth headed to the studio in California to cut their sophmore effort "Stronger Than Death." Mike Piazza, catcher for the NY Mets was hanging with them in the studio, and recorded backing vocals/growls on the title track. Axl Rose was actually in the studio next to theirs and hung out with them on several occasions, but no collaboration occured. Phil did all of the artwork yet again on the album. Stronger Than Death was released in Japan on March 8th 2000, and in the United States on April 18th 2000. J.D. decided to leave the band to persue other interests, and he was replaced by Steve "S.O.B." Gibb, son of Berry Gibb from the BeeGees. Black Label Society kicked off the Penchant For Violence tour in Japan on June 14th, 2000. The band was playing new songs from Stronger Than Death, songs from Sonic Brew, and an amazing cover of Ozzy's "Demon Alcohol."

The Under My wheels track from Decline of the Western Civilization with axl and alice cooper is another good treasuer...

As is the Don Henley track...I Will Not go quietly (although axl is barely used)

Yeah, Axl is only used in the chorus deep down in the mix.. I have that album on vinyl back in the UK (I still haven't gotten round to bringing the rest of my collection over yet... and I don't trust the mail with my precious :P )
