Title: stage presence??? Post by: FIZ GRAFITI on June 23, 2007, 02:39:32 AM Was wondering if I'm the only one who found these new guys to lack some what the stage presence of the old guys? I could be way off because i've only ever seen the new band. I was totally blown away when Axl came out on stage but not so much with the rest of the lads. I felt if Slash and the other boys were there i would have been blown away even more. Of course could just be due to the fact that those old guys have been around so much longer there for have more star power and perhaps stage presence. Of course I enjoyed the show like crazy, i take nothing from these new guys, but would like anyone here who has seen both bands to comment....perhaps if I go see Velvet Revolver i mite get more of a clue???

They're like a rock show on steroids. Title: Re: stage presence??? Post by: cfcsfc on June 23, 2007, 03:00:31 AM haha, are you kidding me?? ?:hihi: They're like a rock show on steroids. Yeah. As far as I've seen in videos the band looks awesome- everyone dominating the stage... And I'll be able to witness it tonight- gotta get ready for the show? :peace: Title: Re: stage presence??? Post by: anythinggoes on June 23, 2007, 04:13:51 AM Nope the new guys have plenty of presence there is no doubt in my mind about that, yes the old guys had presence too and plenty of it, but the new guys are certainly not lacking.
Title: Re: stage presence??? Post by: monkeychow on June 23, 2007, 04:29:47 AM I hope this doesnt turn into VR vs Axl etc
However...just so you know...your not the only one that feels it. I think the 'new' guys are incredible musicians, virtuosos in some cases, amazingly talented and deliver a first class and wonderful rock show experience. However, Axl has a certain aura to him, when in the room with him you know your in the presence of someone truely unsual. While the new guys are great, to me they don't have that extra kinda alure that axl as. Its almost like a sexiness even though i'm definately a straight man.... I think slash also has that certain vibe to him. Its hard to define...its more than just the talent...its a presence. So for me, seeing GNR used to be seeing two people like that, and now it is seeing one. Your welcome to see VR live too...but to me thats the same issue, one major presence in the room. Anyway...dont take my post as disrespectful to the new guys, they're great...I just felt I had to agree with the poster to an extent for the reasons stated above. Maybe i'm just mad though. Title: Re: stage presence??? Post by: FIZ GRAFITI on June 23, 2007, 06:57:47 AM The point of that post was not to slag the new guys, i think they were fucking brilliant. However they didn't excite the croud like axl, of course that is a huge expectation. I guess I was just wondering, to those of you who have seen both the new and old band, did Slash and Duff for example excite and wind the croud up as much as Axl? Once again, i loved the show put on by the new guys, fantastic musicians.
I think the only thing I missed form the new guitarists that Slash bought to the band was the blues style guitar work. What do you guys think? Agree or think i'm crazy? Title: Re: stage presence??? Well most aren't familiar with the rest of the guys in the band, and everyone knows Axl so he's obviously the one the crowd gets most excited about. But no doubt these guys have all proven they are amazing musicans and each of them have great presence on stage.Quote I think the only thing I missed form the new guitarists that Slash bought to the band was the blues style guitar work. What do you guys think? Agree or think i'm crazy? you are crazy. Robin brings all that and more. Slash who?Title: Re: stage presence??? Try 1998 and counting. And if you object to that date, try 2000 or 2001. So no surprises here. Does anyone realize that the new band has been together as long or even longer than the old band was? Quite the observation. And still, no album.... |
