But in, say, 14 years time, will there still be a demand for Manson to tour/put out a CD? That's the test.....

well, he makes albums pretty often and has more catalogue, axls promised this legendary album which hasnt seen the light of day thats the only reason people are still holding onto him in such a big way, everyone wants to hear it, fan or not.

plus theres generations of people who got into them who didnt get the chance to see them in there glory days, so its always cool to jump around to some of the older tunes with axl actually singing them!

i know i had fun when i went haha, jungle was the most mad song the crowd went to, everyone jumping in unison, it owned.

But a good rock star becomes a part of the total culture. When G N' R broke in the 80s, they were on everybody's lips whether you loved the music or hated it. Fashion trends were started overnight.........

I guess Marilyn Manson also got people talking, but on the large scale that G N R seemed to affect the mid to late 80s.
It was getting towards the end of a very decadent decade......

I'm not saying Guns N' Roses were a bad part of the 80s - they tapped right into the vibe of the popular culture at the time.......just like Dylan did......

That's pretty funny man.  Those guys look so stupid.  There are waaaaay too young bands around who are trying to copy the trashy image of the 80's LA bands that need to realise that it was genuine back then - it was a scene and now it just doesn't work cause it's so false and contrived.

Well... Gerard Way is clearly a raving lesbian. But I think that a lot of new bands copy the 80's image. You don't have to look/play like Motley Crue wannabe's to be 80's. It's all about how you live your life. GN'R were hardly the archetypal 80's band on Appetite... But now they seem to define that Era.

To be honest, I'd rather there were new bands playing that kind of music that I can at least listen to and enjoy even if the solo is just 'Eruption' backwards... Back in the day there were hundreds more 'copycat' bands that were put together by record companies, enterprising club owners, etc.

Today, it's all too easy for a talentless band *cough* arctic monkeys *cough*  to get real famous, and force their small dicks down everyone's throat. These new bands should at least be given the chance to blossom... Some of them will grow and by their 2nd/3rd album they will have matured as a band and started playing more their own style.

A good example of a new, contrived band that fell by the wayside are Roadstar, formerly known as Hurricane Party. Good band, good looks, but everything about them was under their manager's thumb.

If you want to check out  real, genuine new hard rock band, you could do worse than Silvertide. Their debut album Show and Tell really kicks some fucking ass, and they're not pretending to be anything more than they are.

Haha, someone else has heard of them. I think when they put out their first album in August, it'll be one of the best rock albums of the year. I wouldn't say they're emo, if anything they're glam.

Exactly, i have their EP, I wanted them to get big so they could sign it then I'dve been minted lol.

But they're still young so we'll prolly see 'em resurface.
