Title: Buns
Post by: GeraldFord on June 21, 2007, 01:57:55 PM
When you eat a sandwich what kind of roll do you like? I don't care for buns with seeds and I don't like the generic mass produced buns. I like full, natural buns. Sweet buns are also nice, but I don't get that too often.

While I'm slightly disappointed that this isn't a thread dedicated to fine asses, I'm quite enthused to talk about my favorite sandwich roll:  the poppyseed!

I really like a good poppyseed roll, when having a sausage (preferably a Chicago Dog, at Wrigley Field).  I think the poppy seeds add a nice little crunch to it, making a two dimensional texture (soft bread; dense sausage) three dimensional.

Unfortunately, they're really hard to find in most grocery stores, so I rarely get them.  I'm sure if I went to a baker, they'd be more prevalent.

When I die, I want to be ground into a man-sized sausage, placed in an enormous poppy seed roll, and buried in center field.  Then, they can have a contest, where the fattest fan in attendance can dig me up and eat me.

Ok...the last part's BS, but I really do love poppyseed rolls and their counterpart, the lemon-poppyseed muffin.

I'll be back to post again when after this thread inevitably turns dirty.

I saw a lot of great buns today at the supermarket. Some were big, some small, some were black and some were white, but most of the buns looked alright.

Don't forget buns with jam or custard or cream!

You can lick out the inside and pop open a seam......

I have to disagree with you. Quiznos has the best bread.

But "Italian Herp & Cheese" from subway is awsome

No matter how moist or soft buns are, they aren't very nice tasting when there is nasty stuff in the middle.

Italian Semolina Bread dipped in Marinara or white wine, garlic and clam sauce.
German Black Bread warm with homemade butter.

Lets get shovels and bury Freedom 78 in Wrigley's centerfield because I'm getting hungry.  We'll wash him down with a tasty cool Bud afterwards.

Nothing better than a lightly toasted seseme seed bagel or bun, weather it be made into a sandwich or just butter or creamcheese.  I love all breads and buns with the exception of rye, or pumpernickel type breads I strongly dislike those flavors.  I try not to have them to often as carbs are the enemy, yet I endulged in them quite frequently in Lisbon until I got the hang of the food situation there. :)

My fav buns are those that are somewhat firm but still have just enough softness to melt in your mouth. I also like a little bit of a milkshake when consuming buns.

I had a burger at red robin yesterday.. it was very pricey, but it had like onion bread... and it kinda made the flavor of the burger overkill and too tasy

HAH, yesterday I was sittin here with my girlfriend and all of a sudden had the biggest urge for Red Robin....hell yeah it's expensive, it was 50 bucks for the two of us. I had the Prime Rib dip, while the bun was good and flavorful, it was a bit too hard for my liking.
