Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Ok what better way to top off the weekend.

First my footy team won, second the other local footy time (that I hate) lost by one point.

Then I went to the GN'R concert on Sunday night.

Perfect weekend!!!

Well it just got waaaay better last night.

A mate and I managed to meet Axl and get a photo and a couple of autographs!!!!? We also met the rest of the band through the course of the night.

I managed to get Axl to autograph my sealed copy of Live Like a Suicide.

I also managed to get a drum head signed by Axl, Robin, Dizzy, Tommy, Richard.? I missed out on BBF even though he was right there, we were a little star struck with Axl and they had walked off before - before we realised what had happened.? I felt like a bit of a dick for not asking BBF.

Basically, Axl turned up with BBF, Beta, Vanessa and a couple of other people.? So we got the autograph and photo then let them go then realised we hadn't asked BBF - damn!? Saw Del James there too and also met Fernando.

We sat chatting to their two drivers for a couple of hours about various stuff while we had a few drinks (not the drivers) and waited for band members to come past so we could get a quick autograph.? The drivers told us a bit of stuff (although they were professional and didn't reveal anything personal) just some general stuff about what they had been doing etc.? Apparently Del did mentioned the new album to one of them.

Anyhow, I was wrapped with how obliging Axl was.? He was very humble and very softly spoken he also cracked a couple of jokes.? I am about 6 foot tall and my mate is about 6" 4'.? When I was taking the photo of those two, Axl joked that we need to get Angry Anderson here because at least Axl is taller than Angry.

My mate says to Axl "I have been waiting 20 years for this moment" - lol

We obviously complimented them on what a great time we had and how good the show was.? Axl laughed and said it wasn't too bad for a band that hadn't released an album and a singer that can't sing.? My mate said how crap the Burswood Dome was for holding concerts and how the pressurised interior of the Dome causes problems, Axl said he hadn't realised until afterwards that it was pressurised.? He mentioned that it was causing him some problems while singing so he was fiddling with his earpiece trying to work out what was going on.

My mate also cheekily said "whats the deal, you didn't play Rocket Queen last night".? Axl just laughed.

Anyhow, that's about it.? Enjoy the pics, I can't wait for the 2 Melbourne concerts now I fly over there tomorrow.

We only spoke to Axl for a couple of minutes, we didn't want to impose too much.

We saw the other band members individually throughout the night, we didn't ask them for photos just an autograph and a quick chat about what they had been doing while they were in Perth.  We didn't want to bale them up for ages.

Robin was on his way out to a friends house and he had his guitar case with him.  he said he went up to Kings Park during the day and fell asleep in the sun.  Richard had been for a run around the river during the day and up to Kings Park as well - he said you have a very beautiful city.  I think a couple of them including Axl went to the zoo.

One driver did say that a couple of days ago they went and saw some Kangaroos.  He said one Kangaroo turned and started coming towards them and apparently Bubbles just about shat himself.

Yeah we actually briefly said hello to him when he came down to talk to one of the drivers as he was heading out.  He seemed like a nice guy.  He went out of his way to introduce himself to us too which I though was nice of him.

On a seperate note I wish that I had the camera setting correct to start with for my photo - if anyone is good at touching up photos let me know coz I wouldn't mind getting it blown up to put on the wall at home, but would like to fix it up a bit first.

WilliamBailey...actually, the way the pic is kind of blurred makes it look pretty cool.  If you could blur a bit more of the surrounding portion, it would appear almost abstract and give the appearance of a dream sequence type deal you'd see in a movie.  Hell, I'm still amazed.  That is so friggin cool.   :peace:

We went where we had a fair hunch that the band might be when I had heard that they were still in Perth and not leaving until the following afternoon.

So I cracked out the LLAS from its protective cover and threw it in a bag.   I also threw in one of my other LLAS's - unsealed for my friend, he brought the drum skins along for each of us and we headed down there. We had been there for less than 10 mins when Axl turned up.  Talk about perfect timing.

BBF goes - wow a Live Like a Suicide when he saw it.

Oh HELL YEAH! Well in son ... fuckin well in!

On a side note ... what was on the back of Axl's jacket, cause it sure looks fuckin sweet!

For all the annoying stuff that can go with being a fan of GNR these days, if you get the chance to talk to Axl for five minutes, you can immediately remember everything that's so amazingly awesome about the guy.

Everyone in the world meets Axl but me! Haha.... I'm happy for ya though.

I believe Vanessa is Beta's daughter and Fernando is a son.  I'm sure someone will correct me if that's wrong.

Yeah probably a bit.  Although I got him to put my name on it when he was signing it.  If I was doing it purely to sell it, you probably wouldn't do it, but I collect GN'R stuff not for investment, but purely for my own pleasure.  This stuff would never be sold.

Also, given how many fake signatures are available every day on ebay for like 30 or 40 bucks, i think having my name on it helps to authenticate it.  I mean nobody is going to sign it themselves and put someones name on it, purely if they were looking to sell.  They would just fake Axl's signature and leave it generic.

I think I will get it framed and put it up on the wall somewhere.

This is quite awesome, I mean we've seen other fans with the rest of the band, but for you to meet Axl and have a split second, let alone a few minutes, let alone an autograph and picture is a true rarity. Congrats to you, and that thing about him saying "Not bad for a band that hasn't released an album and a singer that can't sing" just proves that HE REALLY DOES KNOW what's been said and what we've been waiting for.   

if your camara has the night portrait setting it probably has the automatic estabilisation (sp?) thing, its the little hand symbol, you put it and even if you move your hands the pic its without movement, like you said if you put some night portrait or something that leaves the shutter open for to much you need to put the camara in someplace or the pic wont be perfect .   but your pic is pretty cool , and congrats for your good weekend.
