Title: Psycho Killer
Post by: Smoking Guns on June 11, 2007, 10:03:11 PM
Didn't see a thread, so started one.    I have not heard the studio, but this song at the download is so sick.     I mean, this shows me what VR is capable of.  Though just a cover, you can see how much better VR has gotten over the years.  Simply amazing.  Weiland is perfect for this song.  The whole band played their part perfect.  Blown away is all I can say!! Check it out!

I'm from the U.S. and have the studio version and it is unreal.  Scott's vocal range is awsome and I wish it was there on more Contraband songs.  After hearing this and Just Sixteen along w/ SBQM, I have extremely high hopes for Libertad and believe it will indeed be the guitar album of the year.  Slash's slide guitar throughout all of Psycho Killer remind us all of how truly talented of a guitarist he is.  There are not too many guitarists these days who can play slide with the elegance and proficiency that Slash uses.  The first time I heard their cover of this song, was the first time that I have heard it and I was totally floored.  Everything about his technique on this song is such a step above everything else that is on the radio/cd right now.
I really have the feeling that there is going to be a huge shift in musical appreciation in this country; people will remember how to appreciate the guitar afficionado, especially with the recent release of mainstream albums by Ozzy, Rush, and Linkin Park.  People can sh*t on LP all they want but they went in a new direction with Minutes to Midnight and put together and amazing ROCK album.

I really loved that song when I was flirting with the punk scene in the late 70s . VR fucking ROCKS it .

The song was always cool, but - I agree - VR really kicked it up a notch. I listened to it about 5 times in a row on my way to work.

Its really amazing..    This band is so versatile.  Dave and Slash are complementing each other well as well.

When I got the ep i wasnt that into it, just thought it had a catchy chorus but not necessarily a gd choice for VR. But after seeing it from down front at download i fuckin love it lol
