I know "You Could Be Mine" was written before Steven Adler left the band, but was it ever confirmed that he came up with the intos drumline?

the credits say Stradlin and Rose.

credits doesnt include arrangements
but i read that duff came up with the intro...

those drums don't sound very Adler......

They actually do sound kinda McKagan, though, if you've ever heard some of the stuff on his "Believe In Me" CD.

no idea mate, sorry. it was an article from ages ago. If I remember/find it - I'll re-post.  Maybe someone else here knows (chances are!)

Obviously they didn't come up with the drum intro lol. Drums are never credited in songwriting. I think Duff too, I'll try to find the source.

Duff has been credited with alot of writing or filler that worked perfectly.  Remember he wasn't only a bass man.  He has a knack for polishing a tune or writing something off the cuff that fit in with what was going on at the time.  Great rhythm bass player.

All of Duff's bass lines are brilliant.

It couldn't have been Adler, there's no cowbell in it! LOL

imo, these drums are the best of any gn'r song! lots of rhytm changes and nice fills. love to play that song!

well it was written before AFD.. just not recorded (probably) and yeah like evrybody is saying i've also read that duff came up with the intro..

axl was working on November rain since when Tracii guns was in the band

Duff is awesome, and if he really did write the drum intro for YCBM - That's even more pwn going for him.

i dont wanna go too much off topic... but axl wrote the meldoy... yeah, on piano, but the guitar and bass have to follow that. That is why he can take the credit.

I read in some mag. that Steve did play the intro on YCBM n then on internet in some page 'bout GN'R songs, as for the cowbell, Civil War didn't have it neither.

But just Steve can say it, or any of them.

I would think, if you're adding your own bit (a guitar solo, a bass line, a drum intro) you should get SOME credit... so how does it work ?!

Well, that wouldn't work too well, would it? Every band member adds to the song if you go into detail. Credits are given to the ones that wrote the song, meaning the basic structure, melody and lyrics. If you were to credit like, Duff for coming up with that amazing bassline starting at 01:22 into the song, most CD booklets would be books.

cant remember precisely, but the credits system for the band was worked out by slash. it mostly consisted of who made up the riff and who made up the lyrics. someone far harder working that i will dig out the article (from RS i seem to remember) that explains it.

It's also explained in "A band that time forgot" by Paul Stenning but I can't find it right now.
