they are really milking comic book adaptations.

This one looks awesome!!! Who's better than Robert Downey Jr.? (That wasn't sarcasm, I was serious  ;D)

I love how they look the Adi Granov design  :D

they are really milking comic book adaptations.

under Article 1 of the Hollywood constitution all films must satisfy atleast one of the following criteria:

be a sequal, remake or 'reboot' to a previous film

be based on a toy, game or theme park ride

have been written by Frank Miller or Tarantino

include atleast 1 Marvel or DC character - in the event all the major characters have sequals pending, keep digging deeper for increasingly obscure characters

think about it, damn near 99% of Hollywood films meet atleast one of these criteria....

At least one, and one other; Must entice Izzy to a viewing on opening day and crush his poor little heart.

I have a feeling that Iron Man will sink without trace. All of the internet buzz is positive and even the whiny comic book fanboys seem to like what they've seen so far which points to only one outcome; complete disaster.

now thats funny.

Izzy, all jokes aside, why don't you start a movie review website.  i think it'd be hysterical.

...it would be hysterical if i ran a website?

Geez, i had no idea Ben Stiller has so corrupted modern notions of 'comedy'

Guys, I was never into comic books as a kid, but I swear I remember Iron Man being a different color.  Was he a different color???

Holy whistlin' fuck...

I swear, the simpler the topic, the more gratuitous cynicism you throw on top of it... :hihi:

Maybe you should aim for something more constructive, something more along the lines of starting a thread discussing the more...artistic problems of the movie business en masse. Maybe then we could look forward to a real revelation, because Hollywood being all about the dollar just ain't it.

To conclude, there's a good market for comic book adaptations right now, and anyone who can is cashing in. And that about covers it.

Looks cool. To Axl4Prez, yea thats the original colors of Iron Man. Maybe you're thinking of War Machine who was all silver and grey?

That is the stupidist thing I've ever heard... "have been written by Frank Miller or Tarantino"... There are only like 10 between the two of them... Where does Fight Club, Snatch, American Psycho, Total Recall, Closer, Casablanca, Godfather, Citizen Kane, City Lights.......................................... fit in???

Such bullshit

interesting...maybe I'm nuts but I remember a reddish-orange, and yellow action figure.

On an unrelated note, I also had a blue and white, possibly silver? action figure that came with some sort of blue coffin/sarcophagus.  This had to be early '80's and I have no idea what the hell it was!  The back of the figure had a circular hole that clipped the figure into the sarcophagus/coffin...anybody know what the hell that was???

A Masters of the Universe action figure perhaps.

I'm fairly certain it was from before Masters of the Universe (He-Man, Skeletor, etc.)
Maybe it was some cheap star wars/battlestar galactica rip-off.  the think had hinged elbows, wrists, hands, knees, hips, etc....and that blue sarcophagus that had an Egyptian pharaoh type design on it's outside.

Oh well!

Thanks for the tries anyway.

great suit and great casting in robert downey jr.

also the director, jon favreau, surely he's gonna want to make a better superhero movie after starring in the quite disappointing daredevil (he played murdochs partner).

in reply to a previous question.  whilst these are the colour most associated with iron man he did start out life in a grey suit, much clunkier to the design we know now. from pics i have seen we get to see this suit also during the film.

hopefully, this should be a cracker.

I may be wrong here but I'm pretty sure that the grey armor was in just one issue before being changed to gold, which lasted a handful of issues before being changed to the red/gold design.

i'm not sure on the amount of issues the grey suit appeared, all i know is that he started with it (so thanks for that info, cheers).

i think its great the new film features this and it seems like favreau is gonna stick to the original as much as possible (but obviously that can all change).

Iron Man started with a tin can silver design... Changed to yellow and red... Then, an artist and colorist changed it to Red and Gold (it's the same to the character) just to make it look cooler and more 3-D/real... So, they used that design... it would look a little stupid in yellow and red regular...

And there's a silver and black one worn by War Machine...
