The band will appear this Wednesday, May 23, on Fuse.tv's live show 'The Sauce'. It is unclear at this point if the band will perform or do an interview, but it is expected that Fuse will premiere the band's brand new video for 'She Builds Quick Machines'. The Sauce starts at 6PM ET

I love the song but I dont know what the fuck they were thinking with this video.

Yeah, I just watched it and I'm not sure what to think of it really... :nervous:

There's some nice explosions and action scenes, but these guys shouldn't try to act, it just comes across so cheesy. They should just stick to playing music.

I have been hating on Every fuckin body lately but this is an honest opinion.

I absolutely love Velvet Revolver but this video is embarrassing.

The main thing wrong with it is they mouth the words to the song in the video, and not just Scott.

THE SONG HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHATS GOING ON IN THE VIDEO!!!

I laughed when they were looking at the fallen angel and Duff mouths, " she used to keep her motor clean" ?What the fuck?

   It's litterally SO lame that it actually makes it kind of cool. I'm dying over here.... it's such a joke. The video is so random, and just so....

Pretty lame, I would think it was done with a wink and a nod if Weiland hadn't said that it couldn't turn out cheesy and that it came out badass

All their videos to this point were pretty good I thought, aside from Scott shimmying around in those shiny silver pants in Slither :hihi:

VR managed to make a more ridiculous video clip than Dirty Little Thing... applause  :hihi:

But like someone said, it is so ridiculous that it actually makes it kinda cool

Very, VERY funny shit

Theres nothing rock n roll about this, but despite how bad of a music video it is, its entertaining as hell :hihi:

What the hell were they all on when they thought it would be a good idea to have this as their video? That was beyond crappy.

I'm a big VR fan, but for the most part the band just look out of place trying to act. Even in Slash's scenes it looks as though he knows it's cheese... and they should've kept the camera on him for the whole solo!

Eh, I don't think it was that bad.

Scott looks like he's never held a gun in his life. ?

Whats with all the eyeliner?

Slash playing in the middle of a gunfight? ?:hihi:

It's funny.. Obviously I agree with the fact that it's a bit lame, but hey, look at the bright side,, it's funny as hell.. and there's more action than in a die hard movie
BTW That Sauce program was booooring... I almost fell asleep while waiting for VR.. too bad Duff wasnt there.. I kind of wanted to hear what he had to say about touring with AIC,,  : ok:

You can download the video HERE:

http://rapidshare.com/files/33050445/She_Build_Quick_Machines_VID.rar

The RAR file has the original captured ASF file, and the same file but converted to AVI DivX

17 megabytes in total. They look very good.

Ok I have watched it a few times now.

IF the video is intentionally suppose to be funny and a little corny, its a great video, If its suppose to be a serious video then its extremely bad.

either way if u cant tell that usually means a video is pretty bad.

Title: Re: SBQM video premiere tonight.. hopefully
Post by: jabba2 on May 24, 2007, 01:54:40 AM
The camara work was poorly done but otherwise i think its ok. It was only meant to be a fun idea probably so the band could laugh at each other. Nothing serious/

Agreed. Its something like the Pink video clip ''Stupid Girl'' in my opinion.

That video is cool because we all know that pink tries to look ridiculous, tries to be funny, and tries to look as pathetic as possible. A parody. The vid wanted to provoke these sensations since the begining.

But I am not sure if this was the intention of the VR members/director... if it was intentionally supposed to be ridiculous, if the video wanted to give the impression of a bunch of major rock artists looking like fools, then the video might be ok, or even very good.

If this video is supposed to be serious, then its the worst piece of shit I've seen in years. The director's words are what confuses me... this was supposed (by Slash) to be greater than NR and Estranged...

Hold on now Estebanf

Where did Slash ever state that it was better than NR or Estranged.

Im gonna call bullshit until I see some proof of that.

If u show me proof I will apologize and stand corrected.

that is the most amazing cheese since estranged!!!

the bit of the woman falling through the sky was just bad.

so

in the middle of a random desert solo
on top of a cliff edge after sending a car off the it
a moving walk way
coming out of water
and now
in the middle of a destroyed war zone with a man alive on fire running around

VINTAGE SLASH

It's ok-it's hard to make a memorable video anymore, I would have liked more of a performance shot of the band maybe in the second half-I just seen Ozzy's video on VH1 which was nothing special-it's ok, I read the comments by Slash and Scott yesterday and was expecting something better. It is a bit cheesy

i did like the part with the fire though and slashs solo was funny with the man on fire behind him!

Made me laugh.? I had fun for four minutes.

What more could I want from a rock song or a video?

When rockstars try to do something significant with a music video, I think they end up looking silly.? Dolphins, people.

This was just silly fun.? Don't take yourself too seriously.? Otherwise you'll spend a generation working on a concept album about an ex-girlfriend.

Totally agree with you.

Doesn't anyone think this video is all a bit tongue in cheek? Its supposed to be funny. Cmon its like a cross between the A Team and a Spaghetti Western. Its a bit of fun!!

Great song, great video. Nuff said. Hope this does hugely well.

Most of you guys would worship and proclaim it the best video ever it if it was another band.

The video is corny.  Weiland's quote about it said that he didn't want it to come out cheesy and that it's "badass".  So he apparently took it somewhat seriously, I don't think they would care if it was a bit cheesy if it was tongue in cheek.  But it was cheesy.  You can throw it in the so bad it's good category though

SLASH WROTE- Its been very busy out here on tour, but I just had to let u know how fuckin' great the video is, not that I ever had a doubt, u were so committed to this project, but it really surpasses the standard by which the music video medium is currently dictated. I'm thankful that we chose u to help us realize the "vision" that we had, I don't think anybody else could have come close to accomplishing what u accomplished. Its the best video I've ever been involved with, for sure. Its as good or better than any of those epic GnR videos at half the cost in half the time. Not really ANY comments from me for change, it all works the way it is, I don't want to fuck it up. There is a couple shots of me during the spyglass section in the beginning that are a little lackluster, but everything else, the solo, the van, the fight scenes are killer!

SCOTT WEILAND WROTE- You guys are fucking geniuses. You made our vision come alive, but more than that, you took it to another level. I'm more pleased and more proud of this video than any other video I've worked on in the past. I guess the best compliment that I could give to both of you is simply to say that I have absolutely no comments and no requests for changes to be made (this has never happened).

Err, what was that you were saying about "...just silly fun.? Don't take yourself too seriously".? I think perhaps you were directing your comments at the wrong person.

The video is funny because it's so cheesy, but acccording to at least one bandmember they didn't want it to be cheesy.  It doesn't seem intentional.  The video doesn't have anything to do with the song either so it loses points for that too

Eh, their goal was to make a fun video.

I think they did it. ?I think their comments about being pleased with the video are meant as in relation to those goals... fun video.

When they say "bad ass," I think it's meant more subtley than Axl would. ?Look at the Darkness videos. ?They're silly too, but in a more over-the-top way. ?

You guys seriously need to relax. ?I know you're frustrated that Axl can't seem to make music or videos anymore. ?But trashing VR for having a good time won't get Axl any closer to releasing music of his own.

I don't think it's a "great" video.  But I don't think it's a "great" song either.  Just good fun.  Meant to put a simle on your face.  If you want humorless self-importance, go listen to the Blues.

Of course the video is cheesy, so what?! Have you got the article or whatever it is where the bandmember says they didn't want it to be cheesy? I'd like to read that if you could.

Cheers.

its a video not an oscar nominated movie for christ sakes ::)

it has a hot girl, explosions, guns, laughs, a classic slash guitar solo scene....what more could you want in a rock video. geez give it a rest

Everything a good video should have!!!

What I really love about it is that it's so true to the spirit of Slash. ?It's really easy to imagine a fifteen year old Slash liking this video for the same reasons that adult Slash does -- car chases, snakes, guns, molotov cocktails, hot chicks, a guy on fire...

Compare that to Axl -- who's idea of cool changes pretty regularly. ?Now it's kilts... now it's biker shorts... now it's ten minute epics... now ?it's dolphins...

It's interesting, because when Axl was on Eddie Trunk, he seemed to be embarrassed by the dolphin years and the Estranged video. ?He seemed to acknowledge that it was all pretty silly, even if it was ambitious and expensive and had never been done before. ?

-the car race scene with slash smoking a cigarette (same car @ DC vid?)

Dont Cry

-SLash plays a solo while the car is on fire and explodes
-Axl fights with stephanie over a Gun

Agreed, if people don't want to see Slash tearing out an amazing solo next to a guy who's on fire after driving a truck Mr T style through a barricade then that's just sad and plain weird. Rock N Roll is fun, its not about being so serious, who cares if someone's girlfriend left them 15 years ago? Big deal. Just get out there and rock....

That is really interesting. ?And it illustrates a lot about Axl's approach vs. the old guys... It's really not that different when you look at the nuts and bolts (either music video elements or chord progressions in the music) ?It's just their aim is totally different. ?Slash and the old guys just wanted to have fun. ?Axl wanted to be very serious and prove to the world that he was a great artist.

But at the end of the day, they're all writing rock songs about chicks and making videos with chicks, guns and cars.

When rockstars try to do something significant with a music video, I think they end up looking silly.? Dolphins, people.

This was just silly fun.? Don't take yourself too seriously.? Otherwise you'll spend a generation working on a concept album about an ex-girlfriend.

I guess that you and I will have to agree to differ on this one because nowhere in the quotes I've highlighted by Slash and Scott can I see that their intention was to make a video that was "just good fun" and "silly".? I believe that they had high hopes that it would be viewed just a tad more seriously than appears to have been the case.

You guys seriously need to relax. ?I know you're frustrated that Axl can't seem to make music or videos anymore. ?But trashing VR for having a good time won't get Axl any closer to releasing music of his own.

I don't see the need to bring Axl into this discussion at this point.? However, as you have, perhaps I could respond with your own advice to the board, given yesterday on a thread on the GNR section:

"So instead of complaining about the lack of this, or the cancellation of that, maybe it would be healthy for everyone to remember why we love Axl so much in the first place."

Ok im not a fan of the song, but the video is not that bad, as long as they are not taking themselves seriously, when watching i just saw A Team at the beggining and a bit of Desperado thrown in the mix, it wont win any awards but it could of been a lot worse, and yeah slash looked well outta place, he is too Rock and Roll to be fighting they should of had him just playing Guitar, Drinking, Smoking and looking cool while everyone else acted

The shot of Slash soloing while the guy behind him was in fire was very cool. but they only showed the guy for like 1 second. Like i said earlier, bad camara work. The video could have been better.

The opening sequence certainly could have been trimmed, but its an otherwise good video - probably their best yet.  It had the Kill Bill vibe I thought it would have.

As for the negative reactions, everybodys entitled to their opinions, of course.  However, I wonder if the negative reactions to the videos treatment have shaped some opinions on the video itself.  It seems like many people were expecting it to be bad or cheesey, and thats unsurprisingly what they get from it.

It's an OK video, nothing really interesting but also nothing really annoying.
By far nothing half as epic or good the three ex-members have done so far, but still it was
some small cinema. It has its moments, some nice action (Scott shooting around looks a bit strange as if he haven't had a gun in his hands ever before, but still ok) and some other things.

All in all the clip is as good (or bad) as the song, no need to bash it or diss it and no need to start GNR vs VR discussions based on it. To me it is their best clip so far and it deserves some good airplay on MTV.

i tried to like the song, i tried to like the video, but honestly imo they're a perfect fit for each other.  thin and meaningless.  chicks, cars, and guns?  seriously?  right in my sight?  surely we can come up with something a little more original and interesting in 2007.  i'm not asking for an epic masterpiece, but even for a fun rocker song and video, this is very, very corny and exploding with cliches.  if you really want chicks, cars, and guns you could at least TRY to do it in a slightly original or interesting way.

The thing with me is, I dont kiss anybodys ass or hang off anyone's nuts.

If GNR do a song I think sucks, I will tell u it sucks

If VR do something I think sucks I will tell u

Bon Jovi

Prince

Chili's

I dont idol worship and make every mediocre thing a band does seem amazing and great.

Bon Jovi's new video sucks

Prince's last album wasnt very good

This VR video sucks

and besides Madagascar I find most of the leaks to be good but not great.

I dont bullshit or hate, I just keep an open mind and give my honest opinions.

This VR video sucks, its corny and dumb and if u check my posts uwill see what a defender of VR i am but the truth is the truth and in my view the video is very bad.

The video is no SCOM or anything.  But, I have seen worse.  I like performance videos myself, like SCOM.  But, I am mainly happy to see VR back out there having fun and making music.

I'm a big VR fan, but for the most part the band just look out of place trying to act. Even in Slash's scenes it looks as though he knows it's cheese... and they should've kept the camera on him for the whole solo!

This video is a joke  :hihi:  How lame...  :-\

i think this whole thing was a perfect example of lofty expectations. I know Slash said it was great, which is no big surprise, but when he compared it to the Guns N' Roses trilogy i think people's expectations just skyrocketed. i just watched it for what it was, a fun video for a fun and rocking song.
