Title: The lag between the 6/30 show and the 7/14 show Post by: ibelieveinaxl on May 18, 2007, 04:00:05 PM doesnt makde much sense to me. after new zealand, they play japan on the 14th of july. it seems that it would make sense to fill that gap with some more shows. two weeks seems to be too much downtime for a world tour...especially being all the way over on the other side of the world. i mean 2 weeks vacation over there sounds nice, but i think they have had enough down time.....
Title: Re: The lag between the 6/30 show and the 7/14 show Post by: chineseblues on May 18, 2007, 04:02:04 PM Maybe they are going to be playing the Live Earth Japan show on the 7th? Or the one in China...

It would be great if they'd do the Live Earth in The Cradle of Humankind, near Johannesburg. A nice pay-off for the South African fans after MyCoke Fest. Title: Re: The lag between the 6/30 show and the 7/14 show Post by: Gunner_Rose on May 18, 2007, 04:47:02 PM I think that they're gonna to have a rest between these days.
Title: Re: The lag between the 6/30 show and the 7/14 show Post by: Chief on May 18, 2007, 05:15:16 PM well we don't really know, they could be planning some other gigs during that time which haven't been finalized yet (contracts, etc.).
Title: Re: The lag between the 6/30 show and the 7/14 show Post by: jarmo on May 18, 2007, 05:24:10 PM Well, where could they play in that space?
Maybe shipping the gear across the planet would be a bad idea... As far as I know, there's not really that many places bands play in Asia besides Japan. I assume setting up concerts in China isn't as easy as say playing in Japan.... /jarmo Title: Re: The lag between the 6/30 show and the 7/14 show Post by: BlowUpYourVideo on May 18, 2007, 05:30:16 PM Maybe the Chinese government took exception to the album title.
Title: Re: The lag between the 6/30 show and the 7/14 show Post by: Chief on May 18, 2007, 05:31:04 PM perhaps they can play in thailand, indonesia, india, malaysia, taiwan, maybe even russia? who knows! if they get some really good offers any of these are possible, to me.

Despite Axl's 20 years experience in the industry, there is obviously value to be gained here ?:P Title: Re: The lag between the 6/30 show and the 7/14 show Post by: Mysteron on May 18, 2007, 05:34:55 PM perhaps they can play in thailand, indonesia, india, malaysia, taiwan, maybe even russia? who knows! if they get some really good offers any of these are possible, to me. Many big tours skip those countries. I checked U2 and Rolling Stones. Those two bands had huge tours but they "only" played the same places GN'R are doing. The Stones played one date in China though... Playing in Russia would mean GN'R would be in Europe. The cities bands visit there are Moscow and St Petersburg. Both are in Europe. /jarmo Title: Re: The lag between the 6/30 show and the 7/14 show Post by: gmGnR on May 18, 2007, 07:15:11 PM doesnt makde much sense to me. after new zealand, they play japan on the 14th of july. it seems? that it would make sense to fill that gap with some more shows. two weeks seems to be too much downtime for a world tour...especially being all the way over on the other side of the world. i mean 2 weeks vacation over there sounds nice, but i think they have had enough down time..... Is Russia not Europe? Geographically speaking, Russia lies in both Europe and Asia. The dividing points are the Ural and Caucasus Mts. The Asian area contains much more land, while the European section has a much greater population. For this reason, Russia can be considered more "European" than "Asian". If you're speaking in terms of cultural realms, Russia is its own entity. The reason I know this is because I just finished a geography class that dealt with these kinds of subjects. IMHO Axl has ALWAYS seemed to resent the pressures of touring when the shows are packed too closely together... seems to lead to cancellations, etc.... a little time off (i.e. 7-10 days off here and there) is probably a wise idea at this point and should be replicated on future tours...
