Here Today... Gone To Hell!

New York City is the love of my life and I'm sad to be leaving, but alas I must.
I'm moving to L.A. in a few months. Anyone have any suggestions, warnings, things of note to tell me?

Stay in NYC!

Will you be living in the Westside?  You shouldnt have any problems there - it's a well-to-do area.  But you'll have to get used to not having a cool public transit system like New York has, so get a car for sure.  Just cross your fingers there wont be any earthquakes while you're here  ;)

well,,my dream is 1 month touring in us.
well,i have plans that next year come to US,and take acar and than driving from ny (east coast) to la (west coast),and especially i like small cities in us (about 50000 people),i think that towns have their own lives.

Road trips are great.  I'd travel in an ice cream truck if I could  ;D

It all depends on what part of town you're going to settle in...

Compton and Long Beach are really nice, so I hear.

LA definitely depends on what area you will be in.  do you know that or still deciding?

hopefully you have a job lined up otherwise its tough.

without more info i can't tell you much, but i HIGHLY recommend living near where you work since driving can be a nightmare. i'm lucky to take the bus so i have much less headaches and hassle plus i get to listen to music uninterrupted or sleep on the commute, which basically rules! plus its a lot cheaper too!!!

about LA... as long as you're not allergic to plastic, you'll be fine

And I lived in cali when goin to University there. I prefer places like orange county.. Laguna Beach.. and stuff!

i think it would be pretty cool to see the change in life, from east to west, and i think youll get warmer weather there, be warned of earth quakes that side though?

one of the coolest things about LA is the Rainbow Bar & Grill, never a dull moment there and its a good spot for celebrity and people watching.  80s metal lives!!!!!

Hey Good luck out there. I hear LA can be rough.? Are you moving out with anyone or alone? Rents are real expensive..well you know..like NY. Remember..there's no place like NY... snow, rain, transportation, trees..are you sure you really want to go? Good luck on your move if you go through with it. We'll think of you next GnR show!!

Try to move somewhere either on the Westside/Santa Monica, in Hollywood, or in the Valley just over the hill from the Westside/Beverly Hills/Hollywood, like Encino/Sherman Oaks//Studio City/Burbank/Toluca Lake and so on.  These are for the most part decent parts of town, and you won't have too much trouble getting where you want to go as long as you can stay off the freeways as much as possible  :hihi:  They're also reasonably affordable, relatively speaking of course.  But coming from New York you won't be surprised at the cost of living anyway

I don't know what your financial constraints are, but you don't want to live too far out in the sticks because it's damn hard to get around if you have to use the freeways too much.  There are some nice areas like Thousand Oaks and Agoura Hills but they're way out away from where all the night life and cool shit is. 

Nice place to visit, would not want to live  there.
For some killer hot  dogs, go to Pinks. Not Nathan's, but close.

If not this year, then most definately the next, I too shall be re-locating to California :)

My advice to you is start drinking heavily............ then move again to San Diego. Tell the truth. You are leaving NY because mikeguiliani hasnt left you from the second you walked into Mustang Harrys last May 12th.
