I saw them twice last summer.
I love Hanoi Rocks, so it was great to see them playing. They were messing around a lot on stage, though. At first, when Andy came on stage playing his guitar, he felt down at his knees and had difficulties to get up.. After that, Mike did some tricks with his microphone and then lost it, it just flight somewhere, nobody knew where, so he had to use Andys mike for a while. Oh, and Andys guitar was way too loud, it?s almost impossible to hear the other guitar..

Hmmyeah, I'm not the biggest Hanoi Rocks fan, but they're definitely an interesting band to see live. I've seen 'em three times.

I've got the vids for Tragedy, Million Miles Away, Oriental Beat, People Like Me & A Day Late A Dollar Short.  The Million Miles Away one is class it's a live one which they dedicate to Razzle saying he only died a few weeks ago it's an awesome performance very heartfelt.  Tragedy & Oriental Beat are pretty much the same very old school just performed in the studio proper awesome Michael Monroe looks on top form very feminine but it's all good and the band is so into the music you can see how great an act they were together.  The other 2 vids off the last album are also quite good i love all the skating stuff in A Day Late A Dollar Short great modern feel to the song and video.  People Like Me also does a great job of combining live performance with studio clips showing the band working together and seemingly getting on great, what's good about the vids in the fact that they stick with simplicity and it works.

Finnish rockers HANOI ROCKS have confirmed more Scandinavian live dates in support of their latest album, Another Hostile Takeover. Confirmed dates are as follows: December 7 - Stockholm, Sweden at Mondo 8 - Gavle, Sweden at Monster 9 - Sala, Sweden at Rockland 10 - Malmo, Sweden at KB 11 - Goteborg, Sweden at Tradgarn 14 - Oslo, Norway at John Dee 15 - Borlange, Sweden at Bolanche 16 - Kalmar, Sweden at Palace.

Finally heard the new album (had to download it...) and it's pretty good, doesn't seem to of been any promotion for it here in the UK which is a shame.  Fave track Center of my Universe : ok:

It has been over 20 years now since Vince Neils drunk driving accident killed Hanoi Rocks drummer Razzle.

I have posted up some new video today
including the Hanoi perfromance of "Million Miles Away"
dedicated to Razzle in the aftermath,
during their failed attempt to continue
with Tery Chimes from The Clash on drums.

I love the old stuff. Just listen to the Bangkok Shocks Saigon Shakes Hanoi Rocks album.. Amazing! Also songs like Tootin' Bec Wreck, Oriental Beat, Law And Order etc. gets me rockin'. It's sad what happened to the band. But it think that without Hanoi Rocks, rock n roll would be different these days. As Izzy said, in the early days of Gn'R they wanted to look like Hanoi, and sound like Hanoi. Andy McCoy is very talented guitarist, and he also saved Axl's wife life after Adler almost killed her :hihi:

Listening to bands like Rolling Stones and Aerosmith can be an interesting thing to GNR maniacs - because you find so much on their music that was used by GNR.

Hanoi Rocks was another band that had some influence on GNR. And it is cool to know that they have a song called "Underwater" that has a chorus like this:

Welcome to the ocean
Welcome to the sea
Welcome to the jungle
Deep inside of me
I lay you wide open
For all teh world to see

And it is funny to notice that the song has verses like...

"In the tunnels underground the subway rats run all around"

...and...

"In my swamp underground the quicksand slowly sucks you down / Down here I call the shots, like it or not"

No, the song doesn't sound like Welcome to the Jungle at all, and the lyrics are not similar at all. But it has some resemblances, and that's cool.

Wanna listen to the song? You can download it here: http://www.glampunk.org/media/13_Underwater%20World%20(live%20BBC)_Hanoi%20Rocks_Tracks%20from%20a%20Broken%20Dream.mp3

AEROSMITH-WelcomtotheJungle riff 13yrs before GN'R
? Thread Started on Mar 18, 2006, 4:59pm ?? ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1974 "Sweet Pandora" from the CD Get Your Wings
listen to the end of the song. almost the same riff as the intro off the Guns N Roses song "welcome to the jungle"(1987),
In concert GNR close JUNGLE with this riff also, even further copying A-SMITH

HANOI ROCKS IS BACK-
STRONGER THAN EVER AND READY FOR NEW ADVENTURES
A NEW, LONG-AWAITED HANOI ROCKS SINGLE "FASHION" IS RELEASED IN EUROPE 16TH OF MAY AND IN JAPAN 21ST OF JUNE 2007

One of the most legendary and colourful rock’n’roll bands in history, Finland’s national treasure Hanoi Rocks, is currently recording a new album in Helsinki, Seawolf Studios. The album will be released in September 2007 in Finland by WolfGang Records, in Europe by U.K. based Demolition Records and in Japan by Victor Entertainment/JVC Music.

The first single ”Fashion” is a strong proof of what the new Hanoi Rocks lineup is capable of. Guitarist Andy McCoy says: ”It was very easy to choose the first single. All the songs on the album are great single material. Fashion just happened to be the first song that we had ready.”(http://www.hanoirocks.info/myspace/fashion_cover_web.jpg)

The founding members of Hanoi Rocks, Andy McCoy and singer Michael Monroe have finally found the perfect musicians, who bring their characteristic touch to the inimitable Hanoi Rocks sound, and can meet Hanoi Rocks’ sometimes tough demands.

Swedish rock stars, guitarist Conny Bloom and bassist Andy ”A.C.” Christell have known each other since their childhood and they have been playing together in Roadrats, Rolene and Electric Boys. Hanoi Rocks’ trusted drummer Lacu has kept his precise beat steady from year 2001, when Hanoi Rocks did their first comeback.

Besides the brand new song ”Fashion”, the new single release includes Hanoi Rocks version of Billy Bremner hit ”Trouble Boys” and two new videos. ”Fashion” video is directed by Kusti and Jaakko Manninen. Live video of Hanoi Rocks’ classic song ”Boulevard Of Broken Dreams” was recorded in Nosturi, Helsinki, Finland 3rd of March 2007.

WickedInfo.com just finished up an interview with Andy McCoy, guitarist in the band Hanoi Rocks. Some of you may recall that the original Gn'R lineup cited Hanoi Rocks as being a major influence to their music. You can read our interview with Andy at http://www.wickedinfo.com/content/view/125/1/

Hanoi Rocks kicks ass, now and forever. One of my favorite albums I keep on vinyl is still Two Steps from the Move. Oh, and "Fashion" is a badass tune, too. One of my all time favorite bands.

On a more positive note than the above post. I hade the great fortune to see two gigs with Hanoi Rocks over the weekend. Friday june 29th 2007 they performed their first ever acoustig gig in a small intimate envoirment at the Peace& Love festival in Borl?nge, Sweden. The gig was awsome, they performed many of their own classics aswell as some covers. Memorable was the back to back perfomande of Rolling Stones "Wild Horses" and Johnny Thunders "You can't put your arms around a memory". After the acoustic gig they had a meet n greet for fans to take pictures and sign stuff but I had a friend who is not at a fan with me so I felt stressed about waiting in line so we left.

We went to a nearby hotel to have drinks in the lobby and didn't really consider the posibillity that the group might be staying there. ?But after a while suddenly Mike Monroe and Andy McCoy were by the elevators. I went apesjit of course and rushed to them. I was drunk out of my ass and kept rambling on to them about what songs they should have played *haha* Of course I thanked them for an awesome gig. And they were really nice to me and had no problems with taking a picture or two. ?Maybe they were amused with my ramblings because they seemed happy.

Anyway they went up the elevators and I returned to drinking as much as I could in the lobby. And a while later Conny Bloom and A.C walked in! I couldn't belive my luck and approaced them aswell. Really nice and cool guys, ?they did not mind a little chat and have a picture taken.

I said goodbye to them and went for a smoke, and there was my friend chatting with Andys wife ?Angela Nicoletti! Wow! I had to rant and rave about "River of Dreams" being a song I listen to all the time now, wich is true. She sure was nice to and we just hang there for a while and she even game her beer! and some photos were taken here too.

What a gig and what a night! I was stoked!

Next day saturday 30th june 2007 Peace & Love festival. Hanoi Rocks played their full show. And man they totally blew me away! They all are great performers and musicians. They played flawlessly and the sound was perfect! I could here all intstruments at all times. Mike Monroe and Andy McCoy are true legends and they should everyone how a good rockshow should be! They've got such energy and charisma on stage! M?tley Cr?e have something to learn here. I saw them in Stockholm some weeks ago and they sucked totally, it was terrible! Anyway, Hanoi played so many great songs, both classics and their new single "Fashion" What a weekend, it made me really happy!

Legendary Finnish rockers HANOI ROCKS have set "Street Poetry" as the title of their new album, due on September 5 in Finland by WolfGang Records and in Europe by U.K.-based Demolition Records. The Japanese pressing via Victor Entertainment/JVC Music will contain bonus tracks. The special edition will include a bonus skull bandana and three-fold box design.

HANOI ROCKS' new CD was recorded at Helsinki's Seawolf Studios. It will be preceded by a new single in early August.

HANOI ROCKS' most recent single, "Fashion", entered the Finnish chart at No. 1 back in May. The promotional video for "Fashion" has been posted online here. The clip was directed by Kusti and Jaakko Manninen.

The "Fashion" single was released on May 16 in Europe and June 21 in Japan. It also includes HANOI ROCKS' version of the BILLY BREMNER hit "Trouble Boys" (which will not be on the forthcoming album), the promo video for "Fashion" plus a live video, "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams", from HANOI's gig at Nosturi in Helsinki this past March.

Hanoi Rocks have decided to break up by the end of the year 2008. Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy feel that they've taken the band as far as it can go and now wish to go their separate ways.

Hm what would you think if Mike Monroe joined VR? Wouldt it be something f**kin amazing or what u think?

d.d.

ps I feel really sad for this cos newst Hanoi Rocks cd Street Peotry was just amazing. Makes me only wonder how Hanoi fans in US feel since seems like they never got a change to see band live  :-\

Why does something like this always happen to me? My two favorite bands, Hanoi and GnR... One is breaking up, and the other announces THE new album. All this within, what, two days?

It almost seems as if it had something to do with karma or something. Can't have 'em both, huh?

I'll go for

1-Two Steps From The Move (1984)
2-Oriental Beat (1982)
3-Back To The Mystery City (1983)

Haven't heard too much the new material but I prefer the original line-up (n' also think that was their best moment...)

Hanoi Rocks frontman strikes again

Monday, March 15, 2010

On the big-name collaborations: Slash is one of my favorite guitar players. He's a great guitar player, and he plays the right kind of guitar. He was a great pleasure to work with. The Guns 'N Roses sessions were great fun. With Axl we had some magical moments, doing that cover of the Dead Boys song "Ain't It Fun," and Little Steven. I think the best songs I've written for my solo stuff have been with [him], like "Dead, Jail or Rock 'n' Roll" [featuring Axl Rose]. He's a true rocker.
