Title: Original New Band Vs Current New Band
Post by: GnR-NOW on May 11, 2007, 02:08:07 PM
2001 Tour band:                            2006/7 Tour Band:
Axl Rose                                         Axl Rose
Robin Finck                                     Robin Finck
Buckethead                                    Ron Thal
Paul Tobais                                    Richard Fortus
Tommy Stinson                              Tommy Stinson
Brain                                              Frank - most of 2006
Dizzy                                             Dizzy
Pittman                                         Pittman

I'd take Brain over Frank - nothing personal.  Fortus over Tobais, Ron over Buckethead - although Buckethead can play.......
Any thoughs ?

Um, the 'original' band were much earlier than 2001.  I think you mean 'the next line up'.

There is no such thing as the original new band...

Jeez, you all understood the point of his post... stop nitpicking one small inaccuracy  :-\

I would take the 2006 lineup. Based purely on the live performances, I thought the 06 lineup was much tighter. I was also pissed that Bucket just stood in the same place for the whole show, had absolutely no stage presence at all.

When Izzy stood in the shadows it was cool. When Bucket did it he looked like a complete mongoose  :hihi:

I'd easily take the 2006 lineup over the 2001-02 lineup too.

These guys look and sound like they can stand very well behind the brand: Guns N' Fucking Roses! : ok:

From the shows I've heard I'll take the 06 lineup.   :)

By original new band, Im refering to the band that played 01/01/01.  That was the new GNR that was introduced to the public live.

can't say much about the 01/01/01 band but I'm still attached to the striking individuality of the 2002 lineup while loving the tight chemistry among the 2006 guns.

The 2001 band is the band Axl wanted, and the one with the most talent.

Agree. Ron is great and super fan friendly.. Frank seems cool and to like being in the band where I think Brain was just about cash.. Bucket and Brain are some seriously talented musicians and Chinese Democracy will better if they still show up on it. All that said , Ron and Frank are awesome and I hope they do it justice

Talk about a double standard! At least you admit to it.

2001 lineup, for the reasons listed. Bucket over Ron, for sure. Brain is light-years ahead of Frank.
