Title: UYI songs in concert Post by: bodine on May 05, 2007, 12:23:23 AM I'm sure it's been talked about (but at this point what hasn't been? ::) ), but in '02 and '06 they played very few songs from the UYI albums.? Why do you think that is?? My guess is to leave something 'untouched' just in case he ever played with the old band again, or at least it would be cool if that were the reason.? Do you think that will change at all this year?? What song did you miss the most last year? It'd sure been cool to see Izzy do Dust N Bones when he joined in!
Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: Rocker_GNR on May 05, 2007, 12:59:33 AM If Axl played more UYI's song in the shows, we would have less Appetite's songs, so the question is, What do you prefer?, more Appetite song or more UYI song, I prefer the firt opcion.
Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: bodine on May 05, 2007, 01:10:47 AM Well if we can't cut some of the many solos shorter to 'squeeze in' an extra song or two then I guess I'd honestly say leave out the new songs till there's an album? :o? but that's a whole different discussion.

I hope God is listening you or checking this forum (and Axl too) , Finck' solos are too Buring...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz the Slash and Gilby's solos in 90' were so emotive and charming, but today, the Finck' s solo make me?asking, What the hell Finck wants express? ??? ??? ??? Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: bodine on May 05, 2007, 01:41:09 AM solos are necesary to axl Then screw it they can play a little longer. ?He makes the fans wait till after midnight so that seems fair and reasonable. ? Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: estebanf on May 05, 2007, 01:44:59 AM The solos are necesary for Axl to rest between songs, and to my ears, most of those guitar solos are awesome.
Robin's solo at Inland Invasion was magical. Thank god Robin Finck is the current Guns N' Roses lead guitarist. So fuck off and stop your complaining!

Good point, I presume the reasons may be legal or Axl's dislike of the material. I personally think that they should play at least 3 off every album and then some unreleased stuff like Crash Diet, SOYL although it was on vinyl years back think it was "It's So Easy" B-Side. Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: MikeD on May 05, 2007, 05:57:09 PM I hear this complaint constantly but if you really look at a set list it's the UYI and Apetite songs are not that disproportionate (if you count the covers on UYI). I think it's like a 2:1 ratio with one Lies song and three CD
For example October 24th, 2006 - Sunrise, FL @ BankAtlantic Center Setlist: Welcome To The Jungle, It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Live And Let Die, Robin Guitar Solo, Sweet Child O' Mine, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, You Could Be Mine, Piano Jam, Dizzy Piano Solo, The Blues, Band Introductions, Richard Guitar Solo, Out Ta Get Me, Better, Piano Moving Jam, November Rain, IRS, Ron Guitar Solo (Don't Cry), My Michelle (with Sebastian Bach), Patience, Nightrain Encores: Chinese Democracy, Paradise City Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: bodine on May 06, 2007, 08:47:15 AM I hear this complaint constantly but if you really look at a set list it's the UYI and Apetite songs are not that disproportionate (if you count the covers on UYI). Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: jarmo on May 06, 2007, 12:09:06 PM Somebody will always miss some song at the shows.
It's impossible to play a set that pleases 100% of the audience. /jarmo Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: Fingers on May 06, 2007, 02:06:38 PM Axl said in the Kurt Loder interview he wasn't happy with the way a lot of UYI came out-I think that's why a lot of it is not played-I tend to agree with him looking back-would like to hear Estranged, Don't Cry, but I'm happy with his setlists the last few tours
Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: Jay Tea on May 06, 2007, 02:38:39 PM i think some songs are being saved for future tours. so the setlist won't be exactly the same next time you see them.
As a person who likes UYI far more than Appetite it upsets me alot that I don't get to hear my favorite songs live... even when I see tribute bands. I was jumping for joy when I saw a trib band play Don't Damn Me and Perfect Crime. Now I just wish I could see GNR play them. If I had a say I would push for Estranged to be in every set. but maybe they feel "The Blues" fullfills that slot. Why do people on here always gotta act like someone's bitching just cause there's stuff we miss hearing live? In your case it might not be a complaint, but trust me, there are a lot of complainers that mention this. Personally, I would love to hear the UYI stuff (and not the songs they do play), but I think the majority of non-Internet fans don't. Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: big_machine on May 07, 2007, 12:31:41 PM don`t be stupid people .......the illusion are much better than appetite.....!!!!!!!!!!!!
more musical than just distortion and guitar....sometimes i get bored... appetite is awesome.....but illusion are master pieces so THE FUCKING REASON AXL PLAYS APPETITE THE MOST IS THAT EVERYBODY SAYS THAT APPETITE WAS THEIR BEST ALBUM.....so for axl should say fuck off....i`ll play more illusions Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: god of thunder on May 07, 2007, 01:13:20 PM Someone once said that there are unresolved copyright issues with the UYI songs that prevent them from playing more songs from UYI.... Dunno if that is true though.
Personally I`d like to hear civil war and estranged, m8b a version with vocals of don`t cry Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: stolat on May 07, 2007, 01:49:25 PM Yeh, civil war stirs me to the core!
Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: Jay Tea on May 07, 2007, 02:06:23 PM Shotgun Blues
Breakdown Estranged My World Dead Horse these are all songs written solely by Axl that have not been played live since the turn of the century. I would bank on Estranged and Dead Horse one day making a come back. Not expecting (or longing) to hear My World or Shotgun Blues. Wouldn't it be amazing if they played Breakdown? One of my favorites and wasn't even played on UYI tours. Dunno if that is true though. Personally I`d like to hear civil war and estranged, m8b a version with vocals of don`t cry bands can play whatever songs they want live regardless of any copyright issue. You don't have to pay royalties to the author either because all venues pay dues to BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC for the use of published materials for live performance or to play the recordings on the sound system. It's ony an issue if the performance is recorded and sold for money. Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: Demon Wolf on May 07, 2007, 04:02:06 PM Exactly. Or there would be no cover bands in the world whatsoever.
Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: St_Jimmyuk on May 07, 2007, 04:21:42 PM guns n roses play long sets as it is so it would come down to chosing the songs people (and the band) would most like to hear (and play) and i think more appitite songs suits that especially as at the moment its their first major tours in a long time. maybe they would add more in the future but they would probably replace other uyi songs as i don't see them dropping the current songs they have from appitite (unless to add more brand new stuff).
Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: bodine on May 07, 2007, 04:26:50 PM Wouldn't it be amazing if they played Breakdown? One of my favorites and wasn't even played on UYI tours. Was it the Paris PPV where Jeff Beck was going to be a guest performer for Locomotive but had to fly back home sick? I would have loved to hear that. Anyone know if they ever did it Live? Title: Re: UYI songs in concert Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on May 07, 2007, 04:28:11 PM There's footage of the whole band (minus Axl) rehearsing Locomotive with Mr. Beck.
