Title: Blake's American Idol Butcher...
Post by: Thorned Rose on May 02, 2007, 07:41:50 AM
Did anyone else see that last night? OMG

I know D must of been croaking. He so screwed "You Give Love A Bad Name" up. Jon was very skeptical of it to begin with.

I know Blake puts his own spin on stuff, and it's ok with me, but the "Lo- Love, L-ove" rapping style, and the beat box in the middle was a joke.

Blake is talented, but he needs to keep away from that stuff, dance and maybe put your own twist on the song, but don't beat box in the middle of a classic. I liked him before this, now I don't like him at all.

What a joke.

The thing is, it's hard to make any Bon Jovi song you do come off like anything other than a bad Chinese Resturant Kareoke performance. Also it is American Idol, not a Rock competition... the only thing a Male winner of that show is going to be good for is a b-level Justin Timberlake ripoff.

I wouldn't let it bother you that he did that... Also You Give Love a Bad Name isn't exactly Stairway to Heaven, I think you may have been a little loosey goosey with the term "Classic."

you give love a bad name is a well known and popular rock song, known by people who arnt  just hardcore fans of rock music like us, but people who just listen to radio n shit, so id say it was a classic, just like sweet child o mine and paradise city are.

Yeah, I didn't like it. The idea of having these genres is to see who can diversify, not to change classics into whatever the contestants are able to sing.

So are "Ice Ice Baby" and "The Humpty Dance" classics?

He did a pretty good job singing "Imagine" IMO.
