Guns N? Roses Announce Their Only NZ Date
Thursday, 5 April 2007, 2:40 pm
Press Release: Touring Musicians

Believe the hype. Guns N? Roses are back. The Chinese Democracy World Tour and another awesome moment in musical history is upon us. Sit down, strap in and hold on? it?s gonna be one hell of a ride.

After 14 years, the biggest and baddest band in the world, the rock?n?roll machine known as Guns N? Roses, is set to return to New Zealand shores in June as part of their mammoth Chinese Democracy World Tour.

This will be the first time New Zealand audiences have seen the band since their legendary 1993 performances at Mt Smart Stadium (52,000 tickets sold). Guns N? Roses will play just one show in Auckland on Friday 29 June at the new Vector Arena; there will be no other New Zealand dates. Tickets go on sale Monday 30 April.

2006 saw Guns N? Roses perform over 70 concerts all over the world to rave reviews. With the release of the highly anticipated and long awaited Chinese Democracy album imminent, 2007 promises to be the time that Guns N? Roses reclaim their throne as the world?s most dangerous band. Lead vocalist W. Axl Rose, guitarists Robin Finck, Ron ?Bumblefoot? Thal and Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboard players Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman, and drummer Frank Ferrer are a rock n? roll spectacular that have to be experienced to be believed.

Guns N? Roses special guests for the show will be none other than former Skid Row singer, the irrepressible SEBASTIAN BACH and Australia?s ROSE TATTOO.

Skid Row were the main support act for the legendary Mt Smart performance, and since then Bach has remained in the public eye through a series of acclaimed musical roles, a part in the popular television series Gilmore Girls, and more recently, his controversial appearances in the reality TV show Supergroup. The vocalist did a world tour last year to packed out shows, and with his new band in tow, Bach promises to deliver the goods all over again.

ROSE TATTOO fronted by legendary Aussie Rocker ?Angry Anderson? are back after recently finishing their sell-out ?BLOOD BROTHERS? tour of Europe. The Tatts are set to rip it up onstage once again.

No way!

U2's biggest time without album was 4 years (twice)

between ''Zooropa'' and ''Pop'' (1993-1997) and between ''All That You Cant Leave Behind'' and ''How To...'' (2000-2004)

However, new zealand accents aren't , because the maurie and non maurie people all have similar accents,
where us australians don't really have an accent,
look at nicole kidman for instance,
does she speak like that ?

LOL haha no you do have an accent and I did find it annoying( but Im kiwi so Im expected to think this? :P). I just spent 3 months in Queensland. All the guys knew I was a kiwi instantly but the girls thought I had a South African accent (!?) On two occasions, a woman even thought I was Canadian or Irish...

Anyway, I cant wait for this gig!

Thankyou babydolls! Kind words! Your right though, when I was in Auckland for a year in 1997 a lot of the clubs I went to played good rock music! And the country as a whole is mindblowing! I would emigrate tomorrow like a shot! I imagine that the gig will be amazing! I have a friend who is going to get tickets and he will be taking plenty of photos for me to post on here! Hey did you know that the majority of the earliest settlers on the South Island of NZ were from Scotland babydolls?

I gathered that from when I was travelling there - so many people were originally from Glasgow in particular - it was great!  never been to a country so awesome in my life in terms of people, atmos, views (oh my god the views and landscapes!).

I know one person going and she is rallying the troops.  This gig is going to have amazing atmosphere!

Don't know if anybody else noticed, but this press release reffers to the tour as 'Chinese Democracy World Tour' as opposed to 'Guns N' Roses World Tour' in April/May.

Probably not of any significance, but anyway...

i scratch my head as to why anyone would by tickets to a show where they aren't at least somewhat familiar with the band.    If you just buy concert tickets randomly without knowing anything, then do you really care what members are up on that stage?    They are playing a lot of the classic songs and you have Axl singing them and the rest of the band plays all the material extremely well.   Its Guns N' Roses playing Guns N' Roses songs.   This is 2007, I think most people are aware that Guns N 'Roses has gone thru some lineup changes, its no secret.

the commericals airing in australia all featured current bandmembers.

I notice all the websites are just quoting Newswire, and I think Newswire have since taken down their article.

Aw man.  I live in Christchurch, and have already paid for my show ticket and $200 return flight to Auckland.  At least Vector Arena will be a bit flasher than Westpac Arena.

Former SKID ROW vocalist Sebastian Bach has issued the following update:

"We are beyond stoked to play Christchurch, New Zealand for the first time ever!! Cannot wait to explore this exotic locale with GUNS N' ROSES and ROSE TATTOO! See ya live in Christchurch, NZ July 3rd! Also, due to Bach-ular demand, we are returning to Istanbul, Turkey on July 14 ! We will play Masstival with AVRIL LAVIGNE and SUM 41! Peterborough, Napanee, and Tweed all in the house in Istanbul! I partied with Derrick from SUM 41 in L.A. at Hyde Bar and he told me he grew up in Tweed, Ontario, a stone's throw from Peterborough, where I grew up. Avril is from just down the road from that, Napanee, Ontario. Wild!

"Stay tuned for imminent news on: New drummer! New record deal! All this info comin' yer way SOON!"

Public transport best way to get to Guns N? Roses

Wednesday, 27 June 2007, 5:19 pm
Press Release: Auckland Regional Transport Authority
27 June 2007

Guns N? Roses fans heading to Vector Arena on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 June can leave their car locked in the garage, as public transport services will have them arriving right at the door.

The Auckland Regional Transport Authority's (ARTA) General Manager, Customer Services, Mark Lambert says, "Offering frequent services to big events such as the Guns N? Roses concert is part of ARTA's commitment to encouraging more Aucklanders to use public transport for work, school and leisure activities.

?More and more people are now using public transport to special events, and we are constantly refining our services for such events as well as for day-to-day travel on Auckland?s developing passenger transport network.?

The best way to get to the concert is taking The Link bus, which stops on Beach Road close to Vector Arena. Passengers can catch The Link from various locations around the CBD, Parnell, Newmarket, Karangahape Road and Ponsonby. The cash fare is $1.60 one way.

Vector Arena is approximately 10 minutes? walk from Britomart Transport Centre. A regular timetable will be operating for all buses, trains and ferries travelling to Britomart, and normal fares will apply.

?We would advise fans to allow plenty of time to get to the arena in time for the concert,? says Mr Lambert.

Rock fans planning to stay out late in Auckland's CBD can take advantage of special buses heading back into town after the concert finishes. The buses will take passengers to the CBD?s bars and clubs, or connect them to the NiteRider buses at the St James and Civic which travel to most parts of Auckland. The special buses leave Quay Street (by the pedestrian railway overbridge), travelling to Queen Street and Karangahape Road. The cash fare is $0.50 per person.

Additional train services will depart Britomart on both Friday and Saturday night after the concert. On the Southern and Eastern lines, a train will depart for Otahuhu (via Newmarket) at 1.50am and for Papakura (via Glen Innes) at 2am. On Friday night, a train will depart for Waitakere at 2.05am and on Saturday night a train for Henderson will leave Britomart at 1.55am. Concertgoers living further out west can then take the transfer bus from Henderson to Waitakere.

Fans heading home to the North Shore can catch a special ferry to Devonport at 1.30am.

Passengers planning to use public transport to and from the Guns N? Roses concert can get more information from MAXX on (09) 366 6400 or visit www.maxx.co.nz

If you're going to GNR you'll need a little patience

5:00AM Thursday June 28, 2007

Get ready for a late one Gunners fans, because Axl is in the house and he ain't hitting the stage until at least 10.30pm.

Yes, the Guns N' Roses frontman, and only remaining member of the original band, is a confirmed nightowl and looks set to gyrate those hips and rock Auckland's Vector Arena until around 1am this weekend.

Being a modern, new-age venue, there are apparently no noise control issues with a late finish at Vector for the band's two shows tomorrow night and Saturday.

Aussie rockers Rose Tattoo kick off at 8.30pm, followed by former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, and then the Gunners.

The first show in Auckland is sold out but there are still tickets left to Saturday's gig, however organisers expect it to sell out too.

So go get your hair braided people, jump aboard that Night Train, and get on down to Paradise City (That's really quite enough - Ed).
