Guns 'n' Roses To Tour Australia

Axl Rose is returning to Australia for the first time in 14 years with his new incarnation of Guns 'n' Roses.

Promoter Paul Dainty has scored the coup for Australia.

The G 'n' R Chinese Democracy tour will play Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth in June.

The tour is hopefully going to mark the release of the long-awaited 'Chinese Democracy' album which is already 8 years overdue. The only track to officially surface from the album was 'End of Days' on the 1999 soundtrack to 'End of Days'.

The Guns 'n' Roses line-up is W. Axl Rose on vocals, guitarists Robin Finck and Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal and Richard Fortus, bass player Tommy Stinson, keyboard players Dizzy Reed and Chris Pittman and drummer Frank Ferrer.

Rose has had a revolving door of players for this version of Guns 'n' Roses ever since the original band broke up. Most are know known as Velvet Revolver.

The Australian tour will be a spectacular in its own right with Skid Row's Sebastian Bach and Australia's rock legends Rose Tattoo performing as special guests.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday April 26th.

Most international bands don't charge anything below $100, so I guess that would be a good starting point.
And bands that I've seen previously at Acer Arena (Motley Crue, Foo Fighters) have all been over $100, and being that this is GUNS N' FUCKING ROSES, I'd say prices would be even higher.

Exactly. While GN'R may have toured the US several times playing the same/similar setlists, we haven't had GN'R in this part of the world since 1993, so I'm not fussed if the setlist is the same again.

I can't believe they are actually coming to Perth as well.  Even so I think I will still fly East to catch another couple of shows as well.  It's a pretty rare event to have GN'R in Oz - better make the most of it!!!!

This is great for the people down there!  Maybe after they get done with Japan and Africa on May 1st they will come back to the US to do some press for the Album before going down to Australia in Early June?  Its possible, but we would probably have to hear about it in the next week or so.

Since GNR refuses to play Texas, I guess I have to go to Australia to see them. Oh well, I've  always wanted  to see  the great  down under.  ;D

Because he is happy to do it, and you'd have to think that the line of opening bands we would actually like to see that are knocking down Axl's door to have the job is non-existant. Opening for Guns is not the gig it used to be, and given how fickle a GNR crowd can be it might not be worth it to alot of bands.

93 Calder park was the last time I got to see Guns play and hearing people complain their asses off about the same set list all the time this past year pissed me off. Guns can come to Australia and Rip it up with whatever songs they choose and we are gunna show our appreciation and rock the house down with them just as hard.
  Now who the fuck is organising the before and after party's for all us members to meet up.

It's been a long time between visits. After 14 years, Guns 'n' Roses are heading back to Australian shores for their Chinese Democracy world tour.

Once arguably the biggest rock band in the world, Gunners last toured here on the back of their worldwide hit November Rain, and near pandemonium followed their sold out show at Calder Park, in Melbourne's west.

Back then, the long-haired, bandanna-clad rockers, who traded glam metal for their unique style of "sleaze rock", sold 71,000 tickets to their concert at Sydney's Eastern Creek and 66,000 for Melbourne's Calder Park gig.

Supporting them is former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach, who was also on the bill with his former bandmates on Guns 'n' Roses' last Aussie tour.

Australian rockers Rose Tattoo will join as special guests for the Australian leg only.

Fans will certainly find a new-look band - only lead singer Axl Rose still remains after artistic differences led many of his former bandmates, including flamboyant guitarist Slash, to move on to other projects, such as rival outfit Velvet Revolver.

Rose, with guitarists Robin Finck, Ron Thal and Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboard players Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman and drummer Frank Ferrer, will return for dates around the country in June.

Guns N Roses classic anthems including Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Sweet Child O' Mine and Paradise City have all contributed to the group selling in excess of 90 million albums worldwide.

YEAH!!!!!  I've been messaging all my Guns friends in Adelaide and they are SO fkn up for this! Great news! So pleased that they are playing there.  I've seen a few bands at that venue in Adelaide (entertainment centre), the sound is good, its got a nice feel to it and I dont think GnR will have a prob selling it out!

damn i wanna go!  I will try and find out what kind of promotion is going on in Adelaide, posters, announcements etc.  God I love this part, the anticipation! Cannot wait to hear reviews of the shows - i just love hearing how blown away people are after seeing them live!

Guns N'Roses have not released a studio album since 1991.

The saga around Chinese Democracy continued when Rose missed yet another scheduled release date last month.

He described the making of the album as an "unbearably long and incomprehensible journey".

This is great news. I knew it was on the agenda to happen, however until it was confirmed you never really know for sure.

Thanks a heap to the band and all involved in making this happen.

Australia will often miss out when it comes to world tours due to our location and the costs involved in staging such a tour and the fact that the band want to recognise their fan base down here rather than taking the easy dollar option by touring area's such as the US and Europe again is really pleasing.

This is going to be huge.

And after a good 8 years solid of daily checking this website.....finally I have read what I have been wanting to read. This is awesome.

HARD rock band Guns N'Roses will tour Australia for the first time in 14 years in June.

The band, featuring singer Axl Rose as the only original member, will play Rod Laver Arena on June 15. Tickets go on sale on April 26.

Guns N'Roses' last Australian tour was 1993 when they played at Calder Park, causing a traffic jam 30km from the city.

Promoter Paul Dainty said the band would play a 2 1/2 hour set featuring new material and greatest hits.

"They're not taking the full show everywhere, but for Australia and New Zealand we get the entire Chinese Democracy production, with video wall, full set, the whole enchilada," he said.

The still-unreleased Chinese Democracy album is reportedly the most expensive ever made, with $13 million spent over 10 years of recording sessions.

Supports acts for the June tour will be Rose Tattoo and ex-Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach.

Guns N'Roses have not released a studio album since 1991.

The saga around Chinese Democracy continued when Rose missed yet another scheduled release date last month.

He described the making of the album as an "unbearably long and incomprehensible journey".

Nah. On Sebastian's myspace it has the Burswood Dome listed. I'm fairly certain it will be there. Not heading to Perth myself cos I'm saving for an apartment and have to draw the line. I'm going to do Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane though - and will go to any extra dates they add on to those locations.

Well, VR did cancel Perth. Personally, I think Perth and Adelaide shows may always be at risk at being canned - no disrespect intended for people there.

Have you bought plane tix already? Don't forget when buying tix that the dates allow for extras to be added. GN'R are actually down under for almost 2 weeks in total I think!

Taking a risk doing it that way, usually the servers of the ticket agencies crash or are very slow.  I tried to buy tickets to Tool later last year, within 10 mins of the tickets going on sale there were some being advertised on ebay !!!!  The biggest problem is that all the shows go on sale at the same time, so it's not just 17000 tickets you are competing for, its more like 80000 to 100000 tickets that will be sold across the country.  Pre-Sale may be the only way working people will have a chance of a good seat, other wise you will be up in the nose bleeds. 

I hope to god i get good seats for this.

There is a pub called The Brewery I think it is, at Olympic Park. Personally, I'd rather head to the city. I remember after Motley Crue, loads of fans were in town. I recommend an establishment called Pure Platinum, the drinks cost a bit, but the scenery is excellent  ;)

It looks great, but I wish it said a bit more than what it does, because anyone out of the loop might think it's the old lineup touring...

GA Means no seats, if it doesnt say GA then that usually means its seated.  I live in Perth and I just know Burswood Dome will ruin it like they do every other concert by only having a seats with no GA.  Every concert I have been to there, e.g. Pearl Jam, ACDC, Kiss, U2 - every single one of those has been seated.  It's really fucked too because they have it all sectioned off in little areas/blocks with security and refuse to let you move out of the little block of say 50 seats.  It just ruins it.

That's why when you click on the burswood link there is only one price for one type of seat.

Personally, Im gonna take my chances and quwuw up when tickets go on sale to the public to try and get better seats at the front.  But Im also flying to Melbourne, so will be purchasing GA thru the Visa presale - Im ready to rock!!!!

Sydney took me a bit of time. At 1st it said I couldn't get tix because it may have sold out or I've try to buy to many tix. I was trying to get 2. So I changed it to 1 ticket and it was fine then I bought it seperately.
Also got tix for Melbourne and Brissy. Waiting for W.A and S.A to go on sale. Wish it would hurry up.
Are W.A 3 hours behind N.S.W? Whats the time difference in S.A?

I got SG A1 tickets for perth, anyone know if they are standing or seated?

Im pretty sure that means standing.  SGA1, I think that stands for Section General Admin 1.  Which if you look at the photo of the map for burswood on the ticketek site, it means the front Gold section General Admin - which means standing, thats why there is no block numbers like the ones on the side.

Mind you - this would be the first time that I can remember Burswood not having seating in that area - usually they fuck up the whole atmosphere by having seating there, but it seems like they have changed it for this concert.

Thats where my tickets are so it bloody better be that way!

My Melbourne floor tickets say SGA2 also, I couldn't work that out based upon the picture of the venue.  I hope it's not split down the middle on the night and that means we are further to the back of the floor section.

Split down the middle is actually ok, thats why I liked the look of Brissy. I have a feeling Melbourne is sectioned and that its not on the chart.

The T section means that less people can push forward onto you and also means you arent pushed off to the side when everyone makes u push forward and to the side when people barge in and make u sway to the side.

I don't think it's illegal, it happens all the time when big concerts go on sale.  What that twit doesn't realise is that the tickets for the general public go on sale next week.  There is still Gold tickets left, it was a Visa presale, not Gold tickets pre sale.  All of us who purchased tickets from the pre-sale paid an extra $20 to ensure we have tickets and not risk the crazy "tickets now on sale" day when the servers generally crash.

I tried to get Tool tickets late last year.  It took me 15 minutes to even get the site to load, by then it was sold out and tickets were on ebay about 5 minutes before I could even load the bloody ticketmaster site.  I sent them a few nasty emails accusing them of selling the tickets themselves on ebay and taking the extra profits   :hihi:  They denied this, but said once the tickets were sold, there was nothing they could do to stop tickets being sold on ebay.

No it's not illegal, but Ticketek have the right to cancel any tickets that they know have been sold for a profit. So the best bet would be to get their details and report them to Ticketek. I don't think ebay give a shit.

Just hope no one buys them, as Yibbida said more tickets will be available next week.

Guns 'n Roses have announced that they have postponed the start of their world tour due to an injury to bassist Tommy Stinson.

Stinson recently sprained his left wrist in a fall and the injury has not yet healed. As a result, Guns 'n Roses will not make their two scheduled performances at My Coke Fest in South Africa at the end of the month. All other scheduled GN'R concerts (Australia, New Zealand and Japan) have also been postponed indefinitely.

"I feel so bad right now," explains bassist Tommy Stinson. "I accidentally fell down a flight of stairs. I put my hand down to break my fall and heard a loud 'pop.' The next morning I went to see my doctor, and the bad is news is it's severely sprained and I may have done some ligament damage. I feel horrible?. "We'd like to apologize to our fans that were looking forward to seeing us and know that we will we see you all soon. Again, we'd like to sincerely thank our fans worldwide for their patience and support."

The good news is?. The 12-hour, adrenalin filled My Coke Fest continues with an exciting mix of SA talent and international music heavyweights. The impressive line-up includes Hoobastank, Staind, 3 Doors Down, Evanescence, The Springbok Nude Girls, The Parlotones, Evolver (JHB only), Cassette (JHB only), J (JHB only), The Dirty Skirts (CT only), Love Jones (JHB only), and Taxi Violence(JHB only).

Paul Cashmere of Undercover News reports that reports that the Australian leg of the GUNS N' ROSES tour has been indefinitely postponed are incorrect according to promoter Paul Dainty.

Dainty has once again confirmed to Undercover News that reports emanating out of South Africa last night that the Australia and New Zealand GUNS N' ROSES shows have been postponed following yesterday's decision by the band to pull out of South Africa have not been confirmed.

"I spoke with them last night and they did not tell me that," Dainty told Undercover.

Earlier, Japanese dates were postponed after bass player Tommy Stinson fell down a flight of stairs. GUNS N' ROSES postponed their Japanese dates because of the injury and yesterday also put South Africa on hold.

What door number does your ticket say to enter through.

Mine is door 16. Maybe that is where the sga1/sga2 confusion is because i have called ticketek
and there assuring me that it is just one big general admission area and it will avoid 4000 people all
going through the same doorway.

I spoke to someone at Ticketek too, they said it's only going to one big area.  They said that they can't charge the same price for Gold GA and have one area closer than the other, if they did this the ones further back would have to be silver tickets. 
She said it's just a different code on the system - presumably if they wanted to make it gold and silver in the GA then they could and the different codes would be applicable, but in this case it's irrelevant.

jarmo. ive been on your board for 10 years. im a long time die hard fan since 86. spent tens of thousands of dollars travelling to the shows and have been burned many times by the band...st louis-i was there, philadelphia-i was there, the cancelled euro tour in 2001-ate my hotel, tix, etc, portland-i was there. my comments are not spam, man. its the truth. i dont get why you dont see this....

If the Australian leg of the tour goes ahead will you then be able to acknowledge that your perceptions and objective reality are two separate entities? You've said more than once that it's not going to happen or that people have tickets "to a show featuring 'The Nothing',"  so if the shows go ahead as planned you will have been proven wrong, yes? In which case can we all look forward to the end of you equating your opinion with "the truth"?

hey man. i have not stated opinion. i have just stated the facts of the situation, thats it...first i said the s.africa tour would not happen and everyone jumped down my back. its off. then the AU shows were cancelled with no word from the band. thats all i said. i also said all this misinformation out there and confusion needs to be cleared up by the band so promoters and fans can actually trust that a show is going to happen. without that trust, no promoter will underwrite the band and no fans will buy tix because they fear its not going to happen. thats pretty much what i said. the facts, the reality of what has happened and what is happening...its not my opinion....also, if the AU shows are on, the band should come out right now and tell the fans that its happening...the fans have no clue if its gonna happen or not. i mean is that too much to ask a band to say they are going to play a show for AU fans after they ask them to pony up their hard earned money on tickets? i think not...when i comes to a band touring and announcing a tour, the  fans shouldnt be asking themselves, as you put it, "IF" the tour is gonna happen. the fans should actually have the  right to know that it will happen so they can decide to buy tickets...why would any promoter underwrite a gnr show if the the fans have to ask themselves "IF" the tour is gonna happen.....

Who said they were canceled? Other than the inclusion in the original report about the cokefest cancellation and the subsequent reporting on that story there has been no mention of the AU shows being canceled. The promoter certainly believes they're going ahead - as do the band according to Robin's update which mentions only Japan and SA dates being either postponed or canceled. It seems fair to deduce that the inclusion of AU in the cokefest report, failing any legitimate corroboration, was erroneous. 

But if you really do feel that you have to question the band's intent to play those shows you should try to find a better way of expressing that than repeatedly posting "it's not going to happen" in thread after thread. That gets old really, really fast.

Guns N' Roses have announced that their 2007 World Tour will begin on June 2nd in Monterrey Mexico. The tour had been delayed due to an injury to bassist Tommy Stinson's left wrist. Fortunately, the sprain is healing nicely and soon the band will be ready to rock like only they can.

June will see GN'R perform three concerts in Mexico before heading to Australia and New Zealand. Guns 'n Roses Sell-out Australia

The Australian leg of the Guns n' Roses world tour got off to a great start this morning when shows in Sydney and Melbourne sold out within 30 minutes.

A second show for Melbourne has now been put on sale for Saturday June 16 and a second Sydney show will happened at Acer Arena on June 24. These are the final shows for Australia.

Despite a false start to the world tour following an accident by band member Tommy Stinson, the Aussie fans opened their wallets as a sign of the faith that the show will go on.

Promoter Paul Dainty told Undercover that he expects Brisbane and Adelaide to sell-out today but there will be no more shows.

Dainty also reports there will be no issues with Tommy Stinson by the time the tour is due in Australia. "I've had a medical certificate from the doctor. He will be fine," Paul tells Undercover News. "There was a concern at one stage but he will definitely be okay by the time the Australian tour rolls around".

"It is all systems go," he says. "Stand by for an awesome tour".

I checked Ticketek a lil while ago, and of the four sections available for the 1st Melbourne show, 2 said "available", and 2 said "single seats only", so there are definitely tickets left still.

Australia's The Daily Telegraph reports that tickets for the Sydney show of the upcoming GUNS N' ROSES "Chinese Democracy World Tour" sold out in 30 minutes when tickets went on sale Thursday morning (April 26).

With 14,000 tickets snapped up within half an hour, a second show was added shortly after for June 24 at Acer Arena.

"The interest has been phenomenal,'' said promoter Paul Dainty, Chairman of Dainty Entertainment, adding that the Melbourne and Brisbane dates had sold out as well.

"We think when we look back on 2007 it will be a real rock n' roll highlight.''

After a 14-year break from Australia, GN'R will be back on local soil when they arrive in Perth on June 10 and will travel the country until June 25 ? whereupon they will head to New Zealand.

I drove 2 hours to see them the first time last year, and it was soooo good that I drove even further to Baltimore MD for another show.

"Sorry about the confusion over the dates ? the Australian dates and the Japanese dates. What happened was my drummer, Bobby Jarzombek [HALFORD, ex-ICED EARTH, RIOT], broke his wrist. I've played with Bobby for years and years now, and he is the greatest drummer that I've ever played with. My immediate thought was that I cannot do the dates in July. But over the past two days I have found out that there are a couple of drummers who might be up to the challenge. I look forward to trying out a couple of guys this week that I know are professionals [from] big bands. It's gonan be exciting. But the point of all this is to let you guys all know that the show will go on. Yes, we are coming to Japan; yes, we are coming to Australia. There was a lot of confusion over the Australian dates with GUNS N' ROSES, so I decided to cut out the middle man and text Axl Rose, and the answer that he gave me last night was, yes, 100%, we are going to Australia with ROSE TATTOO.  And I could not be more excited."

That's awesome that Bach is still coming. Would have been very dissapointed if he had to pull out. And of course, great to get word from Axl (all be it through Bach).
This June can't come fast enough- going to both Sydney shows- a weekend of Bach and Guns N' f'n Roses!
Will be my first time seeing the Gunners, and I'm pretty lucky to have my second time being just a day later.
I feel all the frustrations that come with being a Gunners fan will be liffted as soon as the opening notes of WTTJ ring out. Can't wait.

It's also stretching the truth cause Melbourne isn't even sold out yet. Logged in there half an hour or so ago, and there are tickets left, although to their credit it's very close.

At the time of those reports though, there were two sections fully available, while two were limited availability.

Hopefully this will get the radio stations off their arse and realise people in Australia love the Gunners, and for a band they refuse to play virtually at all, tickets are going like Grandma Myrtles hot scones at the local weekend market.

We might hear Sweet Child or November Rain once a week on the MMM's and very very rarely they might play KOHD.
Pathetic. Haven't heard anything else in years, expect for YCBM once about 3 months ago and I'd reckon the 1st time in over 5 years that was.

Our radio stations suck here (actually our only rock station has turned into a 1970's middle of the road station? :'( , refusing to play Gunners, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Faith No More or anything that remotely rocks).

It sucks how many are on ebay right now. Some are selling like 10 or 20 at a time :(

Triple M in Adelaide, South Australia plays AC/DC every hour, somtimes even back to back. Led Zep also get heaps o air play. Triple M has a music jury where you can vote for the songs that you want to hear - its catch phrase is "Triple M rocks Adelaide"......

They play 70s and 80s pop rubbish.

All Tickets did not sell in 30 minutes on Thursday, when they had a week and halfs worth of internet presales leading up to the 26th... :yes:

Melbourne should sell out over the next day or two by the look of it.

GUNS N' ROSES: Sydney Concert Sells Out In 30 Minutes

Australia's The Daily Telegraph reports that tickets for the Sydney show of the upcoming GUNS N' ROSES "Chinese Democracy World Tour" sold out in 30 minutes when tickets went on sale Thursday morning (April 26).

With 14,000 tickets snapped up within half an hour, a second show was added shortly after for June 24 at Acer Arena.

"The interest has been phenomenal,'' said promoter Paul Dainty, Chairman of Dainty Entertainment, adding that the Melbourne and Brisbane dates had sold out as well.

"We think when we look back on 2007 it will be a real rock n' roll highlight.''

After a 14-year break from Australia, GN'R will be back on local soil when they arrive in Perth on June 10 and will travel the country until June 25 ? whereupon they will head to New Zealand.

Well considering they had two presales, one for VISA card owners on the 16th, and another open to ticketek members on the 23rd , I'd say at least half of the 14,000 that eventually went on sale on the 26th.

So if 7,000 tickets sold in half an hour is impressive, well, so be it... : ok:

Australia loves gunsnroses

dont know if this has been posted but in the daily telegraph today dainty said they'd be playing in 9 other countries this year

^^ Thats why I held off buying tickets for Sydney, got my ticket for the first show in Melbourne and now got my ticket for the second show aswell, both gold SGA1. so that combined with accomadation(I live in regional Vic.) means that I am now broke. So I won't be able to make to the either of the Sydney shows now.

? But I will be seeing them twice in Melbourne, and it's gonna be one hell of a weekend!

PS - all you people saying that it didn't sell out in 30 minutes, consider this:

A) Not everyone knew about the presales.

B) If there were no presales, do you think the people who bought tickets in presales would just say "Oh, won't bother" and not buy tickets on the 26th? It would've sold out just as quick, cos those people would have had to buy on the day as well.

You raise some valid points, but the fact of the matter is, the tickets WERE sold over a week and a half, not ALL of them sold in 30 minutes like they are saying they did.

If there were no presales (which plenty of people would have known about - VISA card members plus ticketek club members), who knows, maybe tickets might've taken a day or a couple of days to sell.

I just don't like bullshit journalism twisting the truth. I would've prefered them to say "tickets sold quickly".

Ah they sold out huge fucking arenas.. thats all we need to know.

It's been updated to say the first show has sold out and the second and final show is on sale now. Seeing that is getting me really fuckin excited! : ok:

That doesn't change the fact that they(promoters) usually have presales for any popular act and
not every band sells out its show within 30 mins after the general sale starts.

I don't think there are THAT many people who are saying it!!

I've only ever said it about Melbourne #1. Am logged into Ticketek now, and it says there are silver tickets available for it, days after those reports that said it had sold out.

It's very close, but still not quite sold out.

I understand why promoters do that through the press, but at the same time it can possibly go against them. Years ago for Rolling Stones, my mate and I were planning on getting tickets, then heard in the press that it had sold out in minutes, and we nearly didn't bother trying for tickets based on those reports.

Luckily by chance, we did ask the ticketing agency about it, because there were indeed tickets left, and we got them for the supposedly sold out show.

It's really quite silly. The press/promotoers should just release the headline as "...nearly sold out," and it would accomplish both goals. Bragging that the band kicks ass and letting those without tickets know that there's a few left.
