GUNS N' ROSES WORLD TOUR TO START IN MEXICO

Guns N' Roses have announced that their 2007 World Tour will begin June 2 in Monterrey, Mexico.

The tour had been delayed because of an injury to bassist Tommy Stinson's left wrist, but the sprain is healing nicely and the band will be back in action soon. Unfortunately, GN'R will no longer be appearing as part of the MyCoke Festival in South Africa.

June will see GN'R perform three concerts in Mexico before heading to Australia and New Zealand. It's been 15 years since GN'R last performed in Mexico, Australia or New Zealand, and the anticipation is beyond belief.

July has GN'R traveling to Japan for a series of rescheduled concerts. Fans can expect to hear GN'R classics such as "Welcome To the Jungle," "November Rain," "Patience" and "Sweet Child O' Mine" along with blistering new songs from the band's forthcoming Chinese Democracy album, including "Madagascar," "IRS," and "Better."

The list of shows is missing the third Tokyo and and the second Sydney and Melbourne shows....I wonder if this statement was written days ago but just didn't make it on the web site on time for various reasons.

nice too see some info again, 2007 could be another good one, too bad they're in the wrong aprt of the world when our beloved summer festivals get of here in Scandinavia.

Since we have an official update on the site AND the tour starts in Mexico AND I'll be in Las Vegas about a week before it starts, I'll begin to hope for a Vegas warm up show.

Either way, nice to see an update and some acknowledgement about the cancelled MyCoke shows just in the nick of time.

Even something more "news" ; I registered (again) and this time I got an official confirmation .....(for what it's worth...)

Just noticed that they completely deleted the prior story about the Japan shows...you know, the one that mentions that they will be honoring the MyCoke Festival.  Smart, IMO.

What a substantial piece of news, no wonder it took so long to be posted, think of all the work that must have gone into putting this together ... I'm just beside myself.  Chinese Democracy starts now!

Also, I would like to give some props to Jarmo here. ?He waited untill GNR updated their site to put "cancelled" in the upcoming shows log on the main page. ?Seriously, I see that as proof that he's not a lapdog for GNR.

Maybe the wait was because of confirmation on the Japanese dates. No need to slag the gnr.com crew in this matter.

Still no word about the two extra Aussie dates, tho. Maybe they'll put it later with the sold out stories. :)

That reasoning doesn't really make much sense, because they could always have just added another update with more dates, as the current update makes it clear they intend to do anyway.

And then we would have people complaining about a supposedly canceled dates in Japan. :P

It's always better to put some good news along with the bad ones.

Im glad they come to my country finally!!!

I have my mty ticket but i wonder when they will be selling tickets for Mexico City and Guadalajara ? Also the promoter for thoses cities is different from Monterrey so i hope tickets arent expensive as they usually did and we have a field area no seats please!!

does no one think that the timing of the rescheduled dates is a bit....well, suspect.

if you follow the original tour dates, japan, south africa, mexico, back to australia then NZ.....

why did they book japan first? its right next to Oz and NZ, seems like a bit of a logistical nightmare?

the way the dates now go, Mexico, Oz, NZ, then japan makes much more sense.

i dunno it just seems a bit unorganised, whoever is accepting bookings for the band or organising gis for the band?

but hey at least the web site is updated and the Japan gigs are rescheduled :peace:

This is great news, i for one am pretty psyched about this considering all the uncertainty recently!

As for the scheduling of the tour, who knows but it is really complicated and I've seen several other bands take strange routes and schedules on tour.  it can't be easy with all the different sporting events and what not going on to schedule a big tour.

However personally, being an eternal optimist where this band is concerned, the sight of the updated page and especially the "more dates to be announced", fills me with excitement and the belief that the album will be out this year and that they'll be back in Europe before the year's out too.  Better get that passport renewed...

I've only been to a few stadium shows in my time and the three that were in "domes" has terrible sound, so I'd tend to agree with that guess.

I think its the opposite.  I saw them at Hammerstein and MSG in 06.  I much rather prefer the Hammerstein show, because its smaller and the band and audience feed off each other, the energy in the place is un real.
